Another Nice Film from the Lumiere
Paris Festival 1899: Parade of Flowered Automobiles (1899)
Here's another Lumiere short, which is the typical capturing of an event but with an added twist. The brothers were terrific at just setting up a camera and capturing a moment but here they are filming an automobile parade. This here is interesting enough as it gives modern viewers a look at cars from 1899 but the Lumiere's take it a step further by also filming someone else filming the event. I thought this here was a rather clever thing to do. I'm not sure if the people being filmed here knew they were being filmed or if they were hired by the brothers to stand there. Either way this is a pleasant film that is worth watching if you enjoy these early films.
