A beautiful and inspiring documentary.

I watch many nature documentaries, and this one is particularly impressive. A unique array of animals as well as unusual variations in the environment.

The photography and narration combine to give a fascinating view of the complex interaction within the natural "community," and with human actions, both pros and cons.

Introduction to the animal life of Gabon, the human factors affecting their environment, and rather encouraging details of one leader's actions to limit some of the most destructive activities.

The political side, I believe, is *not* heavy-handed. Rather, it is presented in an informative way that is thought-provoking.

I've long wondered why it isn't called "International Geographic."

"Gabon: Last Eden" is a National Geographic TV program. I was able to see it via Netflix streaming.

Gabon is a West African country that straddles the Equator. It is a diverse land with rivers, waterfalls, swamps, rain forests, plains, and an ocean on its westernmost border.

The land has such species as forest Elephants, gorillas, Mandrells, hippos, and a vast wealth of birds, insects and snakes. In essence a type of "Eden." This film focuses on a conservationist's 15-month travel, on foot, through the country and culminating at the sea. It includes many examples of threats to the life there, including poachers and exploration by a Chinese oil company.

A key result of all this has been the setting aside of a number of important tracts as national preserves in Gabon, to assure the protection of the habitats and the various species, many of which are found nowhere else.

An important and very interesting program.
