In March 2020, when the cast and crew were midway through filming this episode, the City of New York had to be put into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They were expecting to resume filming in about a month, but unfortunately, the lockdown lasted longer than expected, with the first restrictions not being lifted until the end of April. Because of those difficulties, this episode became the season finale by default. Computer animation was used to make up for the unfilmed scenes, for which the cast recorded their voices at home. Brian Dennehy, who died of natural causes on April 15, 2020, was not able to complete his work on this episode. The episode was dedicated to him.
