In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

While the other streaming services set up recurring franchises, Hulu has opted to get a bit more experimental with its original offerings in August 2021.
Hulu’s list of new releases this month is highlighted by three original series concepts with promise. Reservation Dogs premieres on August 9. Co-created by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), this story will follow four indigenous teenagers in Oklahoma as they stave off boredom and adulthood. Next up is Nine Perfect Strangers on August 18. This miniseries, based on a book of the same name, is produced by David E. Kelley and features staggering cast of Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Samara Weaving, and more.
Only Murders in the Building is likely the biggest thing to look forward to in August though. Premiering on August 31, this comedy stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as three true crime-obsessed friends who stumble into a true crime of their own.

Film aficionados will want to keep an eye on Amazon Prime Video in August, as the streaming giant is set to debut two Cannes Film Festival premieres: “Val,” a new documentary about Val Kilmer that uses archival footage shot by the actor himself, and “Annette,” Leos Carax award-winning musical (it won best director at Cannes) starring Adam Driver and Maron Cotillard and featuring music by Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks.
But beyond the Prime Video originals, the Amazon library content added to the service next month is vast and impressive. Among the major movies coming to Prime Video include “Aliens,” “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Jaws,” “Moneyball,” and “Predator.” Meanwhile, IMDb TV, the free service that users can access without a corresponding Amazon Prime subscription, will host “Apollo 13,” “La La Land,” and “Ghostbusters” among many other big titles.

The company image of HBO may not instantly bring to mind family films, but the streaming service has a really fun selection of movies to enjoy at home with your kids. While you’re spending more time in the house, you can check out these family-friendly features to stream on HBO.
Alpha and Omega (2010)
This animated tale of star-crossed lovers features two wolves taken from their national park by rangers to help repopulate another site. Alpha-daughter Kate is determined to get back home, where she’s supposed to marry another alpha; Humphrey, an omega wolf, puts aside his unrequited love for Kate to help her in her quest. But as the pair become closer, they realize that their growing fondness for each other will upend everything if they make it home. The film is a clever wilderness spin on some old romantic themes.

Well here we are. April is going to be a fairly sedentary and isolating month for a lot of people. At least we now thankfully have some guidance as to our entertainment options as HBO has released its new streaming releases for April 2020.
HBO’s original series premieres are pretty busy this month. The fourth season of Issa Rae’s excellent comedy Insecure arrives on April 12. That’s preceded by the fascinating docuseries Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children and followed by book adaptation I Know This Much is True.
On the film side of things there are a few exciting options. Good Boys arrives on April 4, It: Chapter Two on April 11, and Stuber on April 18. Some older movies arriving on April 1 are Team America: World Police, Die Hard, and Slumdog Millionaire.
Here is everything else coming to HBO Now and HBO Go in April 2020 via HBO PR.

So, The Lost Dimension arc, this year’s flavour of the now yearly multiple Doctors event, comes once again to a monthly book. I have said elsewhere that this year’s event, pretty much giving most of The Doctor’s incarnations their own adventures, should have taken place in their own books anyway, with a couple of Alpha and Omega bookends to tie it all up. It has ended up being a bit of a sprawling mess to be fair, lacking cohesiveness and struggling to find any sense of tension or even fun, jumping all over the place with seemingly very little payback.
For readers of the Twelfth Doctor’s book who are not following The Lost Dimension, you’ve not actually missed a great deal. A powerful force has been unleashing white holes across the universe,...

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
Presidents' Day weekend was an interesting one at the box office, and as with most holiday weekends, it was particularly difficult to figure out how things might fare, other than The Lego Batman Movie, which remained at #1 with almost $45 million over the four-day weekend. Fifty Shades Darker followed with $21.3 million, about a 50% drop. Last week, I thought that the Ice Cub comedy Fist Fight would beat The Great Wall, although it seemed like it could be a close race. Nope. Matt Damon’s action epic came in third place with $21.6 million, which is a couple million more than my original prediction, but The Fist Fight fell short of my prediction by almost $10 million, grossing $14.5 million in its first four days.

Winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Director, the Mel Gibson-starring drama follows William Wallace’s revolt against King Edward I of England after his secret bride is executed for assaulting an English soldier who tried to rape her.

Amara was the darkest, most powerful villain Supernatural has ever faced off against. She faced off against the only other of her kind, and fought him to standstill, and often had the upper hand. She was unstoppable; she was invincible; she was, or at least related to, the Alpha and Omega. So, after a season of bloodshed and loss, and of constant despair; after a season in which the most powerful foe was vanquished, Supernatural has gone darker than ever before. This opening episode, filled with the burned-out eyes of the Lucifer-hopped vessels and the exposed tendons of Sam’s blow-torched foot, is not the Supernatural that

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us today, Holly, and congratulations on the recent release of Lucifer Vol. 1: Cold Heaven. Were you a fan of this character and this world before you started working on this comic book series?
Holly Black: I’ve loved Lucifer since Sandman and through his run with Mike Carey. In fact, I am not sure any other character would have been as tempting for me. I was on the phone with Shelley Bond, who called me about potentially pitching some ideas and she casually mentioned that maybe I might be interested in Lucifer. I had a lot of projects on...

One of the most indelible images from the Death Note anime series (and the manga it’s based on) is the haunting appearance of the Shinigami Ryuk, a death god visible to Light Turner, the high school student in possession of a notebook with the power to kill. With filming now underway on Adam Wingard’s live-action Death Note movie, the voice of Ryuk has been revealed.
Mashable reports that Willem Dafoe will voice Ryuk in the live-action Death Note film. An official image of Ryuk’s appearance in the new movie has yet to be revealed (the image above is from the 2006–2007 anime adaptation), but it’s likely that we’ll see a CG creation of the curious death god with an appetite for apples.

The notebook with grave consequences is back, as filming is officially underway on Adam Wingard's Death Note movie.
Based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's popular manga (which was previously adapted as an anime series and several live-action movies), the new Death Note film stars Nat Wolff as the main character who discovers that if he writes someone's name in his newfound notebook while imagining what they look like, they will die. This otherworldly power allows Wolff's character to play God, and it's up to the mysterious "L" (Keith Stanfield) to put a stop to the bodies hitting the floor.
Death Note is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2017. Below, we have the official press release with full details, including Wingard's (The Woods, You're Next) thoughts on the project:

This otherworldly power allows Wolff's character to play God, and it's up to the mysterious "L" (Keith Stanfield) to put a stop to the bodies hitting the floor.
Death Note is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2017. Below, we have the official press release with full details, including Wingard's (The Woods, You're Next) thoughts on the project:

The cameras, they are a-rolling on the set of Death Note, Adam Wingard’s R-rated adaptation of the Japanese manga series.
Created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note is something of a cult phenomenon in the Land of the Rising Sun, spanning live-action features, TV series and even a musical. It’s now bound for a western release under the watchful eye of Wingard (The Guest), and Netflix confirmed today that principal photography is now underway.
Plans are in place to shoot across the States and Canada, with Nat Wolff (The Fault In Our Stars, Paper Towns) taking point as Light Yagami, an unassuming high school student who stumbles upon the titular, mysterious book. As Yagami-san soon realizes, anyone whose name appears in the Death Note will find that their days are numbered, and it’s up to our hero to track down the true, God-like owner of the cursed notebook.

It’s probably safe to say that the final handful of episodes of this past season of Supernatural left fans reeling and discussing what’s to come as they suffer through the summer hiatus. In many ways Season 11 felt like a spiritual sequel to Season 5, largely due to the return of characters such as Chuck/God and Lucifer. And for those wanting to revisit the season, on September 6 you can relive all 23 episodes on either Blu-Ray or DVD.
Below you will find the full press release featuring a detailed synopsis as well as a full rundown of featurettes and episodes to be included. Longtime collectors should be happy to see yet another gag reel incorporated. Whether or not Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles do “Blue Steel” remains to be seen.

Amara has shaken off the attack from the angels, demons and witches, ripped Lucifer from Cas’ body and mortally wounded Chuck. And yet God dying isn’t the only problem that the Winchesters must face. God's dying in the Supernatural season 11 finale, "Alpha and Omega," which means that if they don't want to tip the scales of light and dark, Amara has to go too. But that's easier said than done, as the plan calls for making Dean into a soul bomb to take her out. And then once God and Amara make up, there's other things to be concerned about, like the woman in the bunker sent for the brothers and the return of a long-dead family member.
Here's what led to that crazy ending of the season 11 finale.

Although last night’s episode of Supernatural could have easily functioned as a season finale, I am rather pleased that we have one more hour of reality shattering awesomeness before the summer hiatus. If next week’s episode, appropriately titled “Alpha and Omega,” can somehow top last night’s team-up that included God, Lucifer, Crowley, Rowena, as well as angels and demons, then I think we may be in for the biggest swan song since, well, “Swan Song.”
Something I’ve learned over the course of watching this show for the past eleven years is that the best laid plans don’t often come to fruition, especially this late in the season. Sure, last night’s group effort went belly up and God/Chuck is nearly dead, but I suspect that Sam and Dean will succeed in taking down Amara – only, there will be a catch.

This was a review I had elsewhere (from the 19th of this month) and brought over here, to go along with my recent take on The Valiant #4 (a game changer), for the greater glory of Valiant comics.
I’m going to begin at the end. I do so because it answers a question I posed had regarding the active integration of Divinity into the Valiant universe and does so emphatically. What seemed like a first issue that was a bit methodically paced for a four issue mini, Divinity #2 changes that and adroitly avoids a pitfall that I talked about when discussing the function of H.A.R.D. Corps. Matt Kindt and Trevor Hairsine are delivering the book that makes one most recall one of Valiant’s must enduring taglines: Time is not Absolute.
It’s only right that Divinity #2 brings us Unity.

If you're struggling to decide which version of the new Pokemon games to buy next month, Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby, then why not get both?! BestBuy is releasing an exclusive two-pack with both games and some bonus in-game items.
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire will be released on November 21st, but Best Buy will make it easier to get both. They will offer a "dual pack" that includes both games with a special bonus of a download code to get 100 potions for each game. This helps make the early game go by a littl easier and helps you get going.
That being said, there is no other benefit for it. The games will retail for $40 each, and the dual pack will cost $80 so you don't even get a discount. The deal is exclusive to BestBuy, so if you are interested in it you may want to head there.

Sporadically hilariously awful, but mostly cheap, amateurish and so distasteful it borders on the vile. Poor Nicolas Cage and his foundering career. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
At first I figured that it was only that Nicolas Cage had seen what Taken did for Liam Neeson — gave him a boost as a late-middle-aged badass action hero — and figured he’d get in on that. The premise here, after all, is this: Once-was mobster — that would be Cage’s Paul Maguire; it was the Irish mob — goes on the offensive after his teenaged daughter is kidnapped, apparently by some rival Russian mobsters he once pissed off. What could go wrong for a worn-out actor we’re all tired of seeing who is desperate to jump-start his career?

So Avril Lavigne has made a new music video, about which there are several dozen completely accurate, utterly withering comments to make. She’s trying to out-Miley Miley; she’s aiming for Gaga but barely achieving Xtina; Kesha wants her dollar sign back; this is literally just “Hollaback Girl.”
There are serious questions about whether it’s offensive (expressionless Asian dancers, Tokyo-as-prop) or offensively obvious (this one’s for you, large Japanese fanbase!). There are even more serious questions about the title, “Hello Kitty,” which is also like half of the lyrics, and which everyone agrees is a double entendre.

In 2010, Lionsgate released the animated 3D adventure, Alpha and Omega about the hierarchy of a wolf pack as Alpha Kate (Hayden Panettiere) and Omega Humphrey (Justin Long) defied pack convention to fall in love. With an all-star cast, including Danny Glover, Dennis Hopper in his last role, and Christina Ricci, the film was critically panned but commercially successful and has since spawned two sequels, with another on the way for October 2014. Alpha and Omega 3: The Great Wolf Games lacks the name talent and “pawsome” production value, making for a no-frills addition to a sustainable low-risk franchise that is available exclusively at Wal-Mart.

2013 was a good year for reading in general and horror in particular, so our current set of 365 days has some big shoes to fill. Here are a handful of titles coming out this year that I think are going to help 2014 meet those expectations.
Alien: Out of the Shadows by Tim Lebbon
January 28, 2014 - Titan Books
Tim Lebbon has a deft hand when it comes to working in established properties, having written novelizations and original books for fan favorites including 30 Days of Night, Cabin in the Woods and the Hellboy and Star Wars universes. Now he's taking on one of my favorite franchises – the Alien films. Out of the Shadows is an original novel that revisits the character of Ellen Ripley, who was of course brought to vivid life in the film series by Sigourney Weaver. It's the start of a new trilogy, the events of which lead directly...

Everyone loves the holidays, especially kids, so it’s no surprise that we’ve seen a fair share of sequels that deal with the most beloved children’s characters out there having another adventure once the weather gets cold and cheer is in the air.
2010′s Alpha and Omega brought us the story of two wolves from the opposite ends of their pack’s social order who end up falling in love after they’re thrown together in a foreign land. Now, for Alpha and Omega 2: A Howl-iday Adventure, we catch back up with Kate and Humphrey with winter just around the bend as they prepare for their first holidays with their three wolf cubs, hoping it’ll be a howlin’ good time.
The film releases October 8th, and in preparation for its release, we here at We Got This Covered have an exclusive look at the first trailer...

After being made into a pilot but never making it to series, Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez' comic book Locke & Key has been picked up by Universal for a film adaptation, with Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci producing alongside Bobby Cohen and Ted Adams. Yes, we might see Keyhouse on the big screen yet.The story, for those yet to read the comic, sees Nina Locke and her children Tyler, Kinsey and Bode move back to the family's ancestral home after a tragedy. But there the kids discover some mysterious properties in the big old house in the town of Lovecraft (yes, a very deliberate reference). The good news is that there are magical keys that, when used to unlock various doors in the house, can give you crazy adventures, turning you into a ghost or giving you wings or whatever. The bad news is that there are some...

Though it’s become less of a truism every year, relatively few movies garner enough support (read: money) to warrant development into a franchise, and the ones lucky enough to spawn a sequel usually find their success short-lived, if at all. Once the weekend box office wheat is further separated from the chaff, only the most beloved, repeatedly successful of franchises ascends to the status of cultural icon. By the time a property can claim such a title, it’s among very exclusive company, a first class-flying, summa cum laude-repping, VIP room-dwelling bunch, including the likes of Indiana Jones, James Bond, and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Marvel has released yet another mysterious title card for an upcoming Marvel Now! title, revealing only an “Xx” branding set against a DNA strand backdrop. The upcoming title is set to arrive in April and looks as though it will feature the team up of writer Brian Wood and French artist Olivier Copiel.
Many fans have already begun to speculate that the imagery on the title card appears to hint at yet another Marvel Now! X-Men series, an indulgence that Marvel has long been known for. The fact that Wood has written for Generation X, X-Men, Wolverine & the X-Men: Alpha and Omega and is currently in charge of Ultimate Comics: X-Men certainly seems to help support the notion that Marvel may tap him to head up a new X-Men book. “This is something I’ve been working on to one degree or another since last June,” says Wood.
