Chris Hemsworth graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue, where he revealed that he feels Marvel fans deserve another “Thor” movie after the whiff that was 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor already admitted to GQ last year that his fourth standalone “Thor” movie was “too silly” for its own good, but the misstep appears to continue to haunt him.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
While Hemsworth has always been grateful for his career-defining role as Thor, he admitted to the publication that he grew frustrated with the character while playing him in four standalone Marvel films and additional “Avengers” movies.
“Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” Hemsworth said. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff.

After the results of the first two major Oscar precursor ceremonies, this year’s Best Actor race, to many, looks to be a two-horse race: Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”) was victorious at both the Golden Globes in the comedy category and at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”) took home the Drama Globe, edging out the frontrunner, Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”). Going into the SAG Awards, Murphy still leads our odds, with six of our experts currently backing the Irishman. Giamatti follows closely behind with the support of four experts. Cooper sits on the outside right now with the support of a pair of pundits. Despite Cooper’s faltering at those precursors, he is still very much in this race. Here are five reasons why he will win the SAG Award against the odds.

Most of the buzzed-about network dramas of the 1990s have been largely forgotten these days.
ER and NYPD Blue might have been the talk of the town during the Clinton years, but in the Biden age, they're seldom discussed outside of retrospectives about what the cast members are up to these days.
Interestingly, the network shows from that era that have loomed largest in the public's memory are the ones that might broadly be described as "supernatural mysteries."
We're talking about Twin Peaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and, of course, The X-Files.
In fact, one could argue that no network drama from the past 30 years has proved as enduring and influential as the saga of Mulder and Scully.
The X-Files ran for nine seasons and inspired two feature films, a spinoff series (The Lone Gunmen), and a 2016 revival, with a second reboot rumored to be in the works courtesy of Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity banner has formed a partnership with Chris Hemsworth’s Wild State, which will see Artists Equity producing film and television projects from the Thor actor’s banner.
Wild State, which Hemsworth heads with partner Ben Grayson, was founded in 2022 and has credits that include the Hemsworth-fronted Extraction 2. A third installment of the Netflix franchise is on the way.
Outside of narrative projects, Wild State will continue its pact with National Geographic for unscripted projects, which has included Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth and Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.
Artists Equity, which was founded with backing from RedBird Capital Partners, has a focus on sharing profit participation with above and below-the-line talent based on performance-based incentives.

Sony's "Madame Web" trailer might be the most ridiculous trailer for a major studio release I've seen in a hot minute. There are just so many bizarre moments that jump out at you. Dakota Johnson playing a Manhattan paramedic who inexplicably gains clairvoyant powers that grant her visions like those from a "Final Destination" film? The way the trailer just throws a trio of female spider-heroes right at you? Johnson's Cassandra Webb magically gaining the ability to fight and drive ambulances like a seasoned pro thanks to her newfound future-seeing visions? Who is she, Bradley Cooper in "Limitless"? Sony refusing to call its latest (Peter Parker-free?) Spider-Man spinoff a superhero movie and referring to it as a "suspense-driven thriller" is merely the bow on top of this pile of nonsense.
However, there is one moment that stands out above all the others. That would be the one where Cassandra...

Helena (Daisy Ridley), the title character of “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” is a woman living what she thinks is a safe, comfortable middle-class existence — just like the heroes of “Cape Fear” or “Straw Dogs.” And like those characters, she’s ripped out of her cocoon by a man with a vengeful agenda. In this case, the self-righteous stalker-invader is her father, Jacob (Ben Mendelsohn), who raised her in a cabin in the marshland wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, teaching her how to hunt and survive. In the film’s early scenes, we might almost be watching some off-the-grid version of the Laura Ingalls Wilder story, as Helena drinks in the woodland skills taught by Jacob, with each lesson marked by a homemade tattoo (he inks a deer on her neck when she gets her first kill).

Philip Glass has been composing soundscapes of ambient intrigue for documentary filmmaker Errol Morris for decades, from the groundbreaking true-crime doc “The Thin Blue Line” to the Robert McNamara portrait “The Fog of War.” Now, the three-time Oscar-nominated modernist composer and co-writer Paul Leonard-Morgan have crafted the original score for Morris’ John le Carré documentary “The Pigeon Tunnel,” the Apple TV+ documentary that opens Friday, October 20. Also premiering that day will be the film’s original soundtrack from Platoon, and IndieWire shares an exclusive track off the album below.
“It is our pleasure to share ‘The Pigeon Tunnel’ soundtrack,” said Philip Glass and Paul Leonard-Morgan, adding that “the orchestral journey this score took us on, combing the cimbalom of ’60s espionage soundtracks with symphonic orchestral work, led to 80 minutes of score, almost the entirety of the film.”

Jay Ellis literally raced through the airport to get to Las Vegas's Jbl Fest, but once he was settled down in the club for the festival's official launch night on Sept. 22, it was impossible to describe him as anything other than chill. Even though he's a star, he had the energy of an old friend - especially when he revealed he was particularly looking forward to seeing Bruno Mars perform later that evening.
Apparently, Ellis says, he lived close to Mars when he first moved to Los Angeles. "He was my neighbor, and he doesn't know this, but he used to have parties all the time. Everybody on our street was like, who is this dude having parties? And it was Bruno," Ellis laughs, noting that at the time, he never received an invite.
If he and Mars were still neighbors today, that would probably have changed by now. The...

Nct 127 sit on the kind of colorful, hard plastic chairs you’ll find in offices or assembly halls anywhere in the world. The hair is mussed; faces are bare of makeup; their off-duty wardrobe consists of white tees, denim overshirts, jeans, and loose-fitting trousers. The bandmates — leader Taeyong, Jaehyun, Haechan, Doyoung, Mark, Johnny, Jungwoo, and Yuta (Taeil is absent due to health reasons) — are in constant motion: slouching, straightening, leaning forward and back, twisting to look at one another, arms and legs crossing and uncrossing, often unconsciously mirroring one another’s positions and expressions.

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth has overhauled his lifestyle to prioritise his brain health after learning he has an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The ‘Thor’ actor discovered through genetic testing on his ‘Limitless’ docuseries that his chances of developing the degenerative condition are eight to 10 times higher than average, and as a result he’s made a number of changes to his day-to-day life and routines.
He told America’s Men’s Health magazine: “Now, I’m incorporating more solitude into my life.”
“I’ve always been pretty consistent with my exercise commitments, but lately I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself without any outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness.”
The 40-year-old actor, who has an 11-year-old daughter India and nine-year-old twin sons Tristan and Sasha with wife Elsa Pataky, finds the time to incorporate mindfulness activities into his day, reports femalefirst.

Netflix and Amazon are currently competing for a lucrative package deal. The two streaming giants are in a bidding war over a novella by Don Winslow called Crime 101. The package includes two attached stars — Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal. It also has a director set to helm the project with Bart Layton, whose credits include the documentary The Imposter from 2012 and American Animals from 2018. The bidding war for the property may have been narrowed down to Netflix and Amazon, but Deadline is reporting that Amazon currently has the edge in the fight.
Although the actors and directors are attached, there is currently no deal in place, according to sources. Prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, both Hemsworth and Pascal were showing interest and, presumably, both had been forbidden to do any official business once the strike had taken place. At this point, it is reportedly more of a rights deal...

“The Marsh King’s Daughter” is finally headed to the big screen. The adaptation of the bestselling 2017 novel by Karen Dionne, starring Daisy Ridley, Ben Mendelsohn and Garrett Hedlund, is due in theaters on Oct. 6, and the trailer has just arrived, still wet from the swamp. Watch it above.
Ridley plays a woman who, when she was a child (Brooklynn Prince plays her as a child), was abducted by her violent father (Mendelsohn). When he escapes from prison, she is forced to confront her past, open up to her husband (Hedlund) and brace herself for her father’s return. Will she make it out alive? Or will her father, nicknamed the Marsh King, take her down, once and for all?
The project was initially developed back in 2018, with “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith penning a screenplay for “The Imitation Game” director Morten Tyldum and Alicia Vikander in the role now played by Ridley.

Nutopia, the UK production company behind Limitless with Chris Hemsworth and Queen Cleopatra, is producing the three-part series, working titled Bad Surgeon: Love Under the Knife.
The documentary will spotlight the work of Macchiarini, who set out to revolutionize regenerative medicine in 2011 by implanting plastic windpipes in patients desperate for a cure.
But Macchiarini lied about his research and three of those he treated died, while a fourth later had their artificial windpipe removed.
A Swedish appeals court convicted Macchiarini on Wednesday and sentenced him to two-and-a-half years in prison. He has denied any criminal wrongdoing.
According to Associated Press, the Svea Court of Appeal ruled that two of the three patients who died did not require emergency intervention, while the procedure...

Chris Hemsworth isn’t going anywhere.
In Entertainment Weekly‘s new cover story, the “Extraction 2” star pushes back on reports that he claimed he would be retiring after taking a break from acting.

But speaking with EW, he explained that the brief hiatus he took was because he was “exhausted, and I wanted to be home with my family.”

When you look at Chris Hemsworth, you see a picturesque view of health. The Thor actor has become a physical fitness guru as the action star regularly posts training videos, gives advice on workouts and even released a fitness app called Centr. Hemsworth would even star in a show for Disney+ that explores the boundaries that people push to access the full potential of human physicality. This show is the National Geographic series Limitless. It was also in an episode of this show that Hemsworth discovered that his bloodwork displayed the APOE4 gene, which is linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s syndrome.
Around the time of this discovery, Hemsworth also announced that he would be taking a break from acting to spend time with his family, and the Extraction 2 star now clarifies that his comments were “sort of blown out of proportion” as many took it in a more tragic context.

Chris Hemsworth is getting ready to celebrate his 40th birthday this summer, but he’s not even close to slowing down!
When the actor and his “Extraction 2” director, Sam Hargrave, sat down with Et’s Rachel Smith to promote their thrilling Netflix sequel this week, Hemsworth was quick to clarify comments that got “sort of blown out of proportion” about him taking a step back from acting.
Last fall, the “Thor” star told Vanity Fair that he planned to take some time off after promoting his unscripted Disney+ adventure series, “Limitless”. The decision, he said at the time, coincided with an episode of the show on death, as well as one in which Hemsworth agreed to take a genetic test, which ultimately revealed that his risk of developing Alzheimer’s is eight to 10 times higher than that of the general population — due to the fact that Hemsworth has two...
