Unlike the past two Mézga Family series, which dealt with episodic plots with a lot of sci-fi elements, this series tells a continuous storyline and lacks fantastical elements almost entirely. Also, neighbor Máris became a main character after only showing up in minor supporting roles previously.
When the family is trekking across the Antarctic snow, the 1957 electronic song "Song of the Second Moon" can be heard. This is a reference to the Hungarian documentary series Delta that has famously used this song as its theme tune, accompanied by clips of arctic explorers. Thanks to Delta's into, many Hungarians associated this music with imagery of people walking in snow, which is what the scene in question pokes fun at.
