I like Sookie, I do, but the fact that she was thinking Sam was there, naked in her bed, because he'd done bad things to her (hmm, sounds like the theme song to the show), THEN made the leap to him being the killer - all while Sam was trying to explain himself - made me think she could've at least heard him out before jumping to the wrong conclusions. I mean, there'd been a dog lying there on the bed, then Sam was there in the same exact spot. I guess we can forgive her for not automatically twigging to the fact that the dog = Sam (since shapeshifting probably isn't what first springs to mind...even in a show about vampires). Thankfully, Sam simply *showed* her what he was/what he could do (nice morph, by the way), which Sookie replied to in the best possible way (after Sam said, "I'm a shapeshifter."): "Shut the f@#k up.". Just her delivery of that line (combined with the fact that Sookie is the one character on the show who rarely uses the F-bomb) made it that much funnier. Not to be outdone a little later, though, with her line about scratching Sam's belly (when he was in dog form) - her facial expression as she said that made the line hilarious. I was GLAD she was asking him all these questions about his ability/condition (since so many shows would usually gloss over this type of thing or not have characters smart enough to ask questions). Sookie was no fool, though. She asked everything that needed to be asked. Werewolves are real in the True Blood universe? Neato. Wonder if we'll ever get to see any on the show? Right now, though...I guess werecollie Sam will do just fine. Sure, it could've been easy for the effect of Sam changing into a dog to come off looking stupid (as could even the mere idea of having such a thing exist in the show), but they managed to pull it off well and made it look good/smooth (the morph).
I was slightly annoyed with Sookie being so mad at Sam (as I like Sam, and it's always awkward/uncomfortable when a character you like is doing something you *don't* like to another character who you like). I guess I can understand her anger somewhat, but still, I was feeling for Sam. His flashbacks were interesting (and his kid self morphing into his puppy!). I felt really bad for him, after seeing that flashback. I mean, bad enough that he was going through what looked to be a painful change...but then to be abandoned like that by the people who were supposed to take care of him? It's a miracle Sam has turned out as decent as he has. While all these other characters have issues on the show, and we're expected to forgive their bad attitudes because of what they've been through, this just shows that Sam's better than the lot of them. He's had just as much of a bad past as anybody else, but he's still a good person. Poor Sam, having to deal with Arlene and Tara treating him like crap on top of Sookie being angry at him (at least he still rescued her from the killer who almost got her in the bar). Sam really needs to find a girl who appreciates him as a person.
I wondered if Bill was going to even be in the episode, since it seemed forever until we saw him. Fang s being ripped out as punishment for that one vampire? Nasty. Things got interesting when they brought out the girl for Bill to make into a vampire. Zeljko Ivanek was really effective as the Magister (he's got that true sense of menace about him and that evil glare working for him). Nice choice of music used in those scenes as well. Should be very interesting to see where they go with this newborn vampire chick. It was nice to see Michelle Forbes in the show (albeit briefly - she was standing in the middle of the road with her pig). I've seen her in various things, I've liked her in the things I've seen her in, so hopefully she'll be as equally interesting to watch in this show.
I'm as much tired of Jason and his naivety/stupidity as I am Amy and her annoying "organic vegan" self. At least we got to see another vampire die another gruesome death...(though not to the extent that we saw the vampire die in the last episode).
This was a pretty good episode, with another fine song used over the end credits.
