"Hi Fi Gilligan" finds the castaways preparing for a fierce typhoon by stocking supplies in a cave, only to have the Skipper accidentally belt Gilligan, transforming his teeth into a radio receiver every time he opens his mouth! The Professor estimates that atmospheric conditions, the shape of the skull, and the metal in his fillings all combine to create a receptacle for certain sound waves. The Skipper can't wait to show him off to the girls: "wouldn't it be wonderful if our little buddy could be turned into a color TV?" Everyone in his presence wants Gilligan to provide their own station, from exercise programs to the Academy Awards (his personal choice recites fairy tales). Mr. Howell wonders how he can make a buck from teeth, while Gilligan's open mouth and constant blaring of music prevents anyone from sleeping. A second accident restores him to normal but deprives the Professor of the now damaged radio. Bob Denver's clucking chicken is simply marvelous, as Gilligan bravely prepares for the Skipper's clenched fist to turn him back into a radio (Mrs. Howell: "I just want to remember him as he was, belt him good captain!"). From beginning to end, a much loved, way out there premise that works perfectly for GILLIGAN'S ISLAND.
