From nuns and handmaids to webslingers and oversexualized teens, Sydney Sweeney has done a fantastic job in her decade and a half of acting.
While she has been dubbed a sex symbol, that title doesn't even begin to define the actress's range of skill when it comes to dramatic roles.
Having amassed 22 awards nominations and securing three wins, primarily for her breakout role in Euphoria, the actress has become a mainstay in the entertainment industry.
Though she's been acting since 2009, it wasn't until recently that she started blowing up the news circuits with her career-defining performances.
One thing that can be said about the actress is that she takes every opportunity to elevate her characters as far as possible.
Here, we've assembled a set of Sweeney's most notable television and film roles. From comedy to horror to gritty drama, the actress is not limiting her role choices.

IATSE Local 705 struck a provisional deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Wednesday, the crew union IATSE announced Friday. Like with other recent IATSE Local tentative deals, the details of the agreement are not yet public and will be communicated with union members once a memorandum of agreement (a more detailed summary of the deal) is drawn up, the union added.
“These productive talks are a result of the leadership shown by the negotiation committees for the West Coast Studio Locals, many of whom were new to the process. We look forward to entering the next phase of this calendar,” IATSE international vp Mike Miller said in a statement.

You already know that anyone who has seen Breaking Bad has to have the crime drama as one of their top five favorite shows of all time. Bryan Cranston’s Walter White just had that effect on the viewers! Throughout the five seasons, the show was able to keep its audience invested and is now considered one of the greatest television series, as per the critics.
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in Breaking Bad
Despite filming for many years, the actors must have one scene that remains their favorite and for Bryan Cranston, it has something to do with Jesse Plemons’ Todd Alquist. The scene takes place in the fifth episode of season five which ended up making Todd one of the most hated villains of television history.

The news about a potential Call of Duty film first surfaced in 2015 when Activision Blizzard launched a production studio called Activision Blizzard Studios. Many sources confirmed at the time that the motion picture production company was working on a live-action movie based on the Call of Duty video game franchise. However, the production was shut down in 2020 as the movie was not the studios’ priority.
Henry Cavill in a still from Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
It’s been four years since the last announcement but many fans on social media are positive that Activision Blizzard will soon announce the movie. Last year, there were many debates over the film’s cast and a petition was filed that demanded that the film features actors from the game itself. The petition faced criticism as there have been rumors about Henry Cavill and Jensen Ackles joining the project.

Being one of Hollywood’s finest, English actor Christian Bale has starred in a myriad of films throughout his envious career. Collaborating with A-list actors and acclaimed filmmakers, Bale has had a truly fulfilling experience while shooting his projects. But among all of his movies, there’s this one $31M film that the actor had the most fun shooting.
Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne
While most of Christian Bale’s fans might consider the actor having the time of his life on the set of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Bale actually had a phenomenal experience while shooting Werner Herzog’s Rescue Dawn (2006). Exclusive: Sarayu Blue won her part starring alongside Nicole Kidman in Lulu Wang’s Prime Video limited series Expats at a time when she didn’t know if she “could lift the boulder back up the hill.”
In an interview with Breaking Baz, the Indian-American actress recalls how she had just gone through the jubilation of landing the lead role in Aseem Bahra’s NBC series I Feel Bad in 2018 and the devastation when it was cancelled after just one season. The episode had a real impact.
Landing the role in the Amy Poehler-executive produced comedy had been “an enormous thing,” says Blue, because it was a role that was ”never written Indian…. and I tested against three white women for it.” She instantly corrects herself by replacing the aggressive “against” with a softer “with.”

Exclusive: John Boyega is set to headline and executive produce The Book of Eli, a TV series prequel to the 2010 post-apocalyptic action film that starred Denzel Washington in the title role, Deadline has learned. Boyega will play younger version of Washington’s Eli in the project, which hails from the movie’s writer, Gary Whitta, creator/writer/executive producer of the potential series, and its directors, the Hughes brothers, who executive produce. The film’s producer Alcon Entertainment is the studio on the TV project, which is about to be taken out to select premium buyers, I hear.
The neo-Western Book of Eli movie takes place 30 years after a nuclear catastrophe caused an ecocide. It revolves around Eli (Washington), a nomad who fights his way across a ravaged, post-apocalyptic America while protecting a sacred book that holds the secrets to humanity’s salvation.

The release calendar for new movies over the next couple of weeks could best be described using an image of a tumbleweed lazily making its way across a desolate road. January has always been known as a dump month for Hollywood but this year is particularly bad as so many movies were pushed to later this year (or into 2025) due to the strikes last year. But it's not as though we have nothing coming down the pipeline. To that end, Bleecker Street is bringing an original sci-fi thriller in the form of "I.S.S." to a theater near you next weekend. Can it defy the odds and become a relatively rare original sci-fi hit?
As it stands, the film figures to have a muted debut. Box Office Pro currently has director Gabriela Cowperthwaite's latest taking in anywhere between $2 and $7 million on opening weekend. That's a pretty wide range but even...

SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July 14, 2023 after the AMPTP failed to meet their reasonable terms for a new contract. Those terms included many things like protections against studios using AI to recreate performers’ likeness in perpetuity, fees for late payments made by the studios, and increase in penalties for productions not allowing adequate meal breaks or rest periods while on set. While all of these things are important and necessary for the union to continue fighting for, one of the issues that union members have been most vocal about is the need to update the residual payment process in the streaming era.
Actors from Sean Gunn to Mandy Moore have shared the pennies in payments they’ve received in streaming residuals from their major roles in popular shows like Gilmore Girls and This is Us. Aaron Paul is the latest to make headlines for how little he’s made in residuals,...

Exclusive: Patriots, the hot new play by The Crown’s Peter Morgan, has recouped during its 12-week run in London’s West End, making a move to Broadway more than likely.
The play’s success is a remarkable achievement. Transferring the drama from the Almeida Theatre in Islington to the Noel Coward Theatre was a risky proposition to start with and it was always a gamble.
All those involved were nervous, including Morgan, I understand.
The production team wondered whether audiences would be drawn to a story about Russian oligarchs and the rise to power of Vladimir Putin. But, as producer Sonia Friedman says, the play is both “incredibly timely and relevant,” although she notes that Morgan “wrote the bulk prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

Of all the missed opportunities in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, Finn's character arc (or lack thereof) probably stings the most. He was introduced in "The Force Awakens" as the co-protagonist, someone who'd not only be sharing equal screen time with Rey (Daisy Ridley), but who would likely end up going down the Jedi path himself.
As early as "The Last Jedi," however, it became clear that the series didn't really know what to do with him. Rey and Kylo were getting the meaty storylines that took up most of the film's attention; Finn was off on go-nowhere escapades with newcomer Rose. "Rise of Skywalker" was even worse, as poor Finn was left with little more to do except scream Rey's name a bunch of times. The movie establishes that he's force positive, which could've been interesting if not for the fact that this was the last entry in the series,...

John Boyega has signed with UTA.
The Hollywood Reporter can confirm that alongside signing the British star in all areas, the talent agency has also signed Boyega’s production company UpperRoom Productions.
The deal marks Boyega’s return to Hollywood agencies after four years away, having left WME in 2019. Since then, he’s been solely repped by Femi Oguns at the U.K.’s Identity Agency Group.
Boyega — who found global fame thanks to the Star Wars trilogy sequel — has been on something of a roll recently. He landed a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for his turn in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe anthology in 2021, while last year he earned critical praise for his lead performance in Breaking — which he also exec produced — and also starred in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s historical epic The Woman King.

Plot: A series of eerie events thrusts an unlikely trio onto the trail of a nefarious government conspiracy in this pulpy mystery caper.
Review: Certain filmmakers come along that define a style of movie-making that turns their name into a descriptor. In recent years, Jordan Peele has become the benchmark against which many genre films have been compared, especially when they focus on the Black experience. Storytellers like Donald Glover and Boots Riley have come close to earning similar name recognition as Peele. Now, we can add Juel Taylor to the list. They Cloned Tyrone, Taylor’s directorial debut, is a smart science fiction tale wrapped in a comedic allegory that blends blaxploitation with a contemporary flair for a truly unique movie. With yet another stellar leading turn by John Boyega, They Cloned Tyrone showcases great turns from Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris for the weirdest movie of the summer.

Exclusive: Nicole Kidman hadn’t figured on taking an acting role in the latest entry in the Taylor Sheridan universe, Special Ops: Lioness. Then she got hooked.
“I’ve never done this,” the Oscar- and Emmy-winning star told me. “It was espionage and action,“ which was new territory for her, she explained.
Initially, Kidman had signed on as a producer, having been persuaded to do so by Chris McCarthy, president & CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, and David Glasser, CEO and co-founder of 101 Studios. They’re both in the Taylor Sheridan business, having ushered in Yellowstone, 1883, 1923 and a host of other shows for Paramount+.
Then she and Sheridan talked, then talked some more. Kidman’s an admirer of the script Sheridan penned for David Mackenzie’s beautifully realized film Hell or High Water.

Jharrel Jerome is larger than ever - in real life and on screen. The 25-year-old actor stars in Prime Video's surreal series "I'm a Virgo" as Cootie, an overgrown, 13-foot-tall sheltered teen living in Oakland, CA. It's the first time Jerome has led a project since starring in award-winning titles like Oscar best picture "Moonlight" and Ava DuVernay's true-life-inspired series "When They See Us," making it his biggest role to date - and his biggest challenge. Really, everything about "I'm a Virgo" is big. Jerome is best known for his emotional performances in the aforementioned, the latter of which he tells Popsugar "was one of the hardest things I'll ever do." But "I'm a Virgo" - which, per Prime Video, follows Cootie as he "escapes to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world" for the first time - was the ultimate acting test for him. The Boots...

Growing up in South London, “They Cloned Tyrone” star John Boyega would sit on his mattress watching Jamie Foxx act up on “The Jamie Foxx Show” or his Oscar-winning portrayal of Ray Charles in “Ray.” So, getting the opportunity to team up with Foxx for the conspiracy caper “They Cloned Tyrone,” was a dream come true.
“That’s someone that I’m very much inspired by,” Boyega told Variety on the red carpet at the American Black Film Festival, where the Netflix movie was the opening night selection. “He’s definitely been one of the major hands behind my career that helped me to get roles, get opportunities and I appreciate it.”
Of course, Boyega has come a long way from watching movies and TV in his bedroom. After breaking onto the scene in “Attack the Block” and then playing Finn in the latest “Star Wars” trilogy,” Boyega has starred...

If Netflix were a theatrical studio, we’d say that they were releasing the trailer for “They Cloned Tyrone” to be attached to opening weekend prints of “Extraction 2,” which has been in very limited theatrical release since last weekend and debuts on streaming this Friday. Offering the latest look at the next “big” Netflix original concurrently with the launch of the most recent biggie is pretty par for the course.
“They Cloned Tyrone” is the directorial debut of Juel Taylor, who previously wrote or co-wrote films like “Creed II,” “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and the recently-released (on Peacock) LeBron James biopic “Shooting Stars.” This Black List script, penned by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier (who also shares credit with Taylor on the two LeBron James-specific titles) looks to have become a peppy caper-ish genre throwback. Exclusive: Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken has a lot going for her.
For starters, says the film’s director Kirk DeMicco, “she’s a princess, a superhero” and the first female titular character for a DreamWorks Animation movie.
Of course, there have been female lead characters in DreamWorks animated pictures, “but this is the first time where we said the story really is hers,” adds co-director Faryn Pearl (Trolls World Tour). “We changed the title from The Gillmans to Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken because it felt that we really wanted to celebrate that it’s her story, it’s her journey. ‘I’m A Virgo’ Trailer: Boots Riley’s Coming-of-Age Comedy Shows Off a 13-Foot Jharrel Jerome (Video)
Amazon Prime Video released its first full trailer for its upcoming Boots Riley comedy series, “I’m a Virgo,” on Tuesday. The project stars Emmy winner Jharrell Jerome as a 13-foot-tall Black man living in Oakland, California. Set to be released in full on June 23, the series was written and directed entirely by Riley (“Sorry to Bother You”).
The trailer showcases a supersized Jerome as he leaves his childhood home and takes on the world, no matter how ill-fitted he is. And there’s more than just tiny living spaces antagonizing his day to day: Walton Goggins in full superhero getup appears to take issue with the young giant’s rising fame. Amazon describes the series as “a darkly comedic fantastical coming-of-age joyride” and a “mythical odyssey that questions the purpose of the mythical odyssey.” Check out the full trailer in the video above.

This post contains spoilers for "Barry" season 4.
As soon as "Barry" jumped ahead eight years and gave Sally and Barry a son, one thing's been made clear: Sally's not that great of a mother. She's not outright mean to him, sure, but she's definitely checked out of this relationship. Throughout "tricky legacies," it's Barry who's putting in all the effort to raise their kid, and Sally can't be bothered to step in even when Barry's parenting methods skew towards insanity.
When Barry leaves Sally alone with John in the episode "the wizard," her parenting skills are revealed to be even worse than we thought. Not only does she make him the world's worst grilled cheese sandwich, but she pours vodka into the seven-year-old's drink to calm him down.
It's hard to be too mad at her for all this. The Sally we follow throughout the second half of season 4 is...

Most true crime dramas retell stories from long enough ago that many viewers weren’t alive to hear about them the first time around, from David Tennant’s portrayal of 1980s serial killer Dennis Nilsen in Des to The Serpent, the BBC drama about 1970s murderer Charles Sobhraj. But ITV’s latest example, The Hunt for Raoul Moat, depicts a violent crime so recent that we don’t just remember hearing about it, we remember tweeting about it.
In 2010, Raoul Moat shot three people in Northumberland: his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Stobbart, was seriously injured, her partner Chris Brown died, and police officer David Rathband was blinded and later took his own life. A six-day manhunt gripped the nation, culminating in a police stand-off at a riverbank, where Moat shot himself. Dramatising such a recent tragedy has attracted criticism – including from the families of Stobbart and Rathband – and led many to wonder:...

The year 2015 was a time of great hope in the "Star Wars" fandom. The long-awaited sequel trilogy was upon us, with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford reprising their beloved characters in a galaxy far, far away. Just as exciting (if not more so) were the young heroes slated to make their debut in the film, and in doing so, usher in a more inclusive age of "Star Wars" storytelling. As played by Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), these new additions proved to be instantly lovable and buoyed by amazing screen chemistry -- so much so it had us shipping them after but a handful of scenes together.
That was before the dark times. Before the divisive fan response to "The Last Jedi" and the subsequent box office failure of "Solo" left Lucasfilm scrambling, culminating in "The Rise of Skywalker," a film that...

The ‘Star Wars’ actor John Boyega has recalled being “blown away” by the script for his social injustice bank heist film ‘Breaking’. The actor played real-life depressed US Marine Corps veteran Brian Brown-Easley in the 2022 movie, who calmly walked into a Wells Fargo branch in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2017, reports ‘Female First UK’.
He then threatened to set off the bomb that he claimed was in his backpack unless he was paid $892. He was owed in disability benefits that had been brutally cut off in a bureaucratic move which plunged him into poverty.
Boyega told NME about loving the script, co-written by the film’s first-time feature director Abi Damaris Corbin with British dramatist Kwame Kwei-Armah: “I read it; I was blown away by it. I read it as if I was watching the movie. I liked the complication and the duality of his character. So much going on: the...

John Boyega is remembering how he set out his stall at the very beginning of his career. Fresh out of drama school, he told his agent: “Don’t put me in no EastEnders, don’t put me in no The Bill, don’t put me in any of that.” He says this with force, from a room in Los Angeles, eyes steely. Distancing himself from some of the traditional routes into the industry for young actors was a mark of supreme confidence. Boyega knew the kind of projects he wanted – and didn’t want – to be associated with.
He was clear with his friend and agent Femi Oguns about the way forward. “Not to toot my own horn, but I had strict rules for Femi when I first signed with him. I want something that can be relatable, but unique. It has to have a spin on it.” So far,...

John Boyega has made peace with the role that previously caused him anguish that he made public, but now says “made a man of him.”
The star of JJ Abrams’s Star Wars reboot previously called out Disney for its treatment of his character Finn, stormtrooper turned resistance fighter.
He said in 2020 of Finn’s spotlight in The Force Awakens followed by his diminished role over the course of the franchise:
“What I would say to Disney is, ‘Do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important to the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good.’ ”
Three years later, he is more sanguine, telling The Times of London:
“For me Star Wars has made the man, in a sense… The experiences, the fun times, good times, ugly times, bad times, it makes you who you are...

There’s always a reckoning. There has to be. A studio chief tells me that next awards season they’re going to recalibrate how they screen to voters “because there are a bunch of movies that people did not bother to see. Good movies that people did not watch because they were drawn to the noise. And the noise won.”

This article contains spoilers for season 4 of "You."
Knowledge is power and in prior seasons of "You," it's also half the fun of the show. The audience has always been afforded a front-row seat to the inner workings of Joe Goldberg's (Penn Badgley) twisted mind. While everyone else is fooled by his charm, tricked by his lies, and blind to the red flags that he barely manages to hide, we get to revel in every word of his chilling narration. From start to finish, we've watched Joe formulate his fantasies and stalk his way into the hearts of unsuspecting women. We know that he haunts corners, peers through windows, and strangles enemies. We literally know where all the bodies are buried. Or so we thought.
In the second half of season 4, we learn that something has changed. Since coming to London, Joe hasn't always been honest with himself — which...

Ackerman not just because it matched his initials but also because it matched the director’s favorite big-screen subject — giant monsters — died today. He was 100. His daughter Patricia Gordon confirmed the filmmaker’s death to the New York Times.
