Life feels very, very different for the locals, who now have to get used to living directly under German rule, to try to lighten the mood, The Mayor organises a party.
Very good once again, perhaps not the intensity of depth of the first part, but still a very, very good watch. There is a more domestic feel to this one, we see what life was like for the villagers as they try to carry on with life as normal, even though the streets are awash with Nazis.
It's so authentic, I love that it tells a somewhat different story, the only show I can think of to show French life under Nazi rule, is Allo Allo.
John Thaw is outstanding once again, that scene where he stands up to The German Police Officer (Gestapo?) Is first rate.
The story between Madeline and The German Officer is fascinating, I think because she's so frosty, so obviously (naturally) hostile. Cheryl Campbell is a class act.
Very good, 8/10.
