The writers once again have messed up the continuity of the show . They did this with Peggy's mom .
In season 9 episode 1 "A Rover Runs Through It" Peggy's mom is changed into younger mean woman who had been estranged from her life .Even though it had been shown in the first season she was close with the hills and involved in bobby's life .Now they are doing the same thing with Luanne's backstory for no reason . It messes up what had been already established in the earlier seasons . In the pilot Luanne stays at hills residence because her parents are fighting. Her mother goes to prison for stabbing hoyt for throwing out her beer. At that time she was 19 .But here Hoyt says he hasn't seen Luanne since she was a little girl even though was it previously established he was involved with her life .
I don't understand why the writers changed this . It messes up the continuity and undoes Luanne's arc with Hank in the earlier seasons. There is more goofs and retcons in this episode. I'm not going bother talking about them . You can look them up on wiki. Overall not a good episode . I would skip it on rewatches along with A Rover Runs Through It.
