Best episode of the season yet
guy90019 November 2008
The episode evolves around Miguel asking for Dexter's help once again to rid Miami from another Mal-doing thug, but with a twist- he wishes to do the killing himself, under Dexter's guidance.

A fantastic episode. Well written, well directed. Jimmy Smits (Miguel) delivers his most convincing act to date. The episode bounces from tension, characters developing, shocking story developing and even humor breaks (by Ritta's pregnancy hormones) gently and with efficiency.

Next episodes will have to try hard to top this one, but considering the ending of the episode, the climax is just ahead.

The Butterfly Effect

Warning: Spoilers
Miguel Prado pushes his friendship with Dexter to an unexpected situation when he shows the next potential victim, the former football player Billy Fleeter, and tells that he wants to kill the criminal. Billy has never gone pro and has become an enforcer of gamblers, using a baseball bat on the skull of the debtors. Dexter teaches the principle of his code to Miguel, observing the habits and behaviors of the victim without being noticed. George King tells that his foreman Mario Astorga is a violent man and Debra and Quinn seeks the gardener out. Meanwhile, Debra has one night stand with Anton and on the next morning she discovers that her lover has never been officially appointed by Quinn as a confidential informant. When Debra visits Anton, she does not find him at home and sees the trimmed trees. Miguel kills Billy and while Dexter is cleaning the evidences of the execution, he visits Ellen Wolf.

In this episode, Dexter has an inner fight with the teachings of Harry and his code. The consequences of his judgment will certainly be the subject of next episodes. My vote is eight.

Another Great Episode!
g-bodyl5 November 2014
This is the eighth episode of the third season of Dexter and it's one tense, moving episode. This episode clearly defines the struggles that Dexter is having with himself as he is sharing Harry's code for the first time, perhaps to some dire consequences. We can clearly see the relationship between Prado and Dexter at the highest point, but there is something in this episode that stuff is going to going down really soon.

In this episode, "The Damage a Man Can Do," Dexter and Miguel head out on their first kill together as partners. Rita's hormones are acting up and is taking it out on everyone. Debra and Anton are now together and Debra learns from Quinn that Anton was never a CI. Eventually, Anton goes missing and Miguel Prado is planning on paying his nemesis a visit.

Overall, this is a very great episode and is one of the best episodes this season. It seems like it's a gateway between the beginning of the season to the next three episodes. So like always, the end of the season is going to be a treat to watch. I rate this episode 9/10.

Dexter Morgan: We know he bludgeons people to death, so, look for something... bludgeony.
bombersflyup12 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The Damage a Man Can Do is about Dexter and Miguel gaining more trust, as Dexter shows Miguel the ropes in aiding his first kill. In turn Miguel gets to see behind the mask of Dexter Morgan.

An episode of highs and lows, all of the Dexter/Miguel stuff's gold, while the rest seems to be a bit of a soap opera. I am a big fan of Jimmy Smits, I find Miguel Prado to be one of the greatest characters and not just on Dexter. Miguel's exuberance shopping for supplies and on the pursuit, like a boy at his first video arcade. Just puts a big smile on my face. Not a big fan of the extra characters getting scene time here though. (Anton, Barbara, Ellen)

Miguel El Loco Cubano

Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with Dexter and Miguel, they are eating pizza together. Miguel wants to kill a ghost from his past: Billy Fleeter. Dexter and Miguel are on a mission to observe Billy Fleeter. Quinn tells to Debra that Anton isn't an informant. Dexter and Miguel broke in to Billy's house. Debra tells Anton that he is no longer informant for the Miami police. Debra and Joey arrested Mario Astorga. Dexter isn't gonna help Miguel to kill Fleeter. Dexter changed his plans, he poisoned Fleeter. Miguel sticks the knife right trough Billy's heart. Debra is searching for Anton, but without succes. Dexter gave the wedding rings to Rita. Nice episode of Dexter Season 3, Miguel killed the first human in his life. Will he get on with this streak?

Like Miguel said... fantastic [8.8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 3 Episode 8 ''The Damage A Man Can Do'' (S3. E8): Episode 7 was awesome and I gave it a rating of 8.8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Im so hyped for this episode. Damn, Miguel wants to be the one who does the killing? That's insane. This tree trimmer guy looks very suspicious to me. Lol the fact that Miguel and Dex go shopping together while planning the next kill is so surreal. With two people involved the whole killing thing will be harder to do. It's hard for Dex to trust Miguel and it makes sense. Dex is used to be alone and do things alone. Dex: How do you feel? Miguel: fantastic. Damn! Wow what was that ending with Miguel visiting Ellen Wolf? Is he going to kill her? Overall a great episode, my rating is 8.8/10.

Robin

Warning: Spoilers
1. Miguel is basically robin now 2. Miguel is cheating?!

3. Dexter buys ring

Ok, this season is getting slightly convoluted. It just seems absurd that the ADA has so much time to hang out with Dexter and that no one really cares about that. While it seems so out of character for Dex to let Miguel in but it also makes sense because he's always craved connection. That's why he opened up to Lila as well. I'm just a little confused with the direction of this series. The "skinner" plot is very underwhelming in comparison to previous seasons and subplots with Quinn and Anton are hardly impressive. Needs to step up real quick.
