Cool horror short
Woodyanders20 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
A young man (a solid performance by Joe Hammerstone) gets into a car accident and wakes up in a strange place that turns out to be something else besides a hospital. The creepy doctor (robustly played with lipsmacking wicked aplomb by Erik A. Williams) and sexy nurse (a nicely alluring portrayal by pretty blonde Jessica Spaid) who run the joint inform the hapless dude that they've done some extremely nasty surgery on him that's rendered the poor fellow bereft of both of this legs! Writer/director Williams uses dim lighting, spooky sound effects, and tilted camera angles to effectively create an eerie and unnerving tone. The big reveal the story works up towards might be predictable, but still packs an unsettling punch thanks to the gruesome make-up and deliciously evil histrionics provided by Spaid and Williams. Trevor Juenger's shadowy cinematography, a gnarly ending credits theme song by Cowboy X, and the tight three minute running time further enhance the sturdy quality of this nifty horror short.
