Story and Look
rakibulalamdolon26 June 2022
The story of this movie was somewhat decent. I wasn't actually expecting much from this movie. Maybe That is why I'm not that much disappointed.

There is one thing that disappointed me gravely and that is the look of the Brahmadaitya, it could've been improved by giving some more time and attention.

Below average!!

Ghosts are an important part of any culture or folklore in the world. The presence of many ghosts can also be noticed in our Bengali folk tales. Especially Thakurmar Jhuli can be called a gem. However, the ghosts of their own culture have survived until now in other countries in the world. But in our culture, these ghosts are out of date now. The name of such an outdated ghost is Brahmadaitya. A web movie has recently been created based on this ghost.

Maybe Hoichoi platform producing in a lot of experimental works. Tasher Ghar and this movie is proof of that. It was very interesting for me, to brings those folklore ghosts or demons into the modern age. But looking at the story and the screenplay, it seems - a small child was playing with adult toys.

I was not scared to see the Brahmaditya ghost; but I was scared to see Sayantani's performance. Horrible acting. And did Rudronil really need to act like that? Disappointed. Continuity was so broken that I lost my temper. Such as when the iron trunk is burnt in the fire, it becomes wood! Really man? All I have to do is that I give this movie below-average ratings.

First of its kind ! Unique folk horror !
Suvodip883 October 2020
I honestly had zero expectations from this movie. Had no idea it even existed as there were zero visible promotions before release. The film completely took me by surprise. It was funny, yet creepy. Though most of the jump scares were cliched and the horror scenes are loud, some of the creepy moments are really good, which is rare for a Bengali film. The amalgamation of folk tales and mythology with horror is interesting and I couldn't help but feel nostalgic. The film has a quirky black humor throughout that keeps things entertaining. However, the execution of a couple of scenes towards the end of the film is rather amateurish. Yet, the film redeems itself with a satisfying and fiery climax, followed by a rather funny and intriguing last scene. Hope to see more such folk horror films based on supernatural legends of Bengal.

Uber disappointment

Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler alert. The attempt was nice, but there are so many flaws. Though the director was able enough to pulvarize the whole thing, however the protagonist also joined him along with her awkward acting skills & all. I mean she may suitable for typical sensual acting, romantic role. But for a horror movie?! A big no,.no!

There are so many loose ends, no continuity. Props were cheap and poorly arranged. That nose ring, metal teeth from james bond movie, that trunk( metal/wood?) That fatso cop with unconventional hair. The way the protagonist continuously asking for money like a gold digger. Just awful.

They literally messed with everything.. If you don't have the ability then plz do not ruin these precious genre, or else viewers will loose their interest. P.S. yeah, we all know you people have a drone.

A trip down the memory lane. One of the best Indian horror films.
saikatdasasansol4 February 2021
Brombhodoityo made me jump with fear in at least 3 scenes; it made me laugh out loud; it made me marvel at its uniqueness. But above everything else, it made me nostalgic about childhood summer vacations, when we would spend entire lazy afternoons reading ghost stories about supernatural legends of rural bengal. Herein lies the greatest achievement of this film. Hope they make the promised sequel featuring a Shakhchunni.

Another pleasant surprise from Bengali indie cinema !
rohitbose-487154 February 2021
I watched this one after I watched the director's earlier film, K. This one is even better than the last one. A surprise mix of horror and Bengali folktales, with a strong dose of humor thrown in. While the performances are loud and over the top and the make up of the ghost, a bit tacky, the story telling and the back ground score make this an engaging watch. Also, the sheer quirkiness of the plot and funny one liners make this a consistently entertaining watch.

Had a sleepless night after watching this !
suranganabose5 February 2021
Indian horror films are mostly possession centric and feature hackneyed exorcism scenes. This one is a breath of fresh air in that respect. The plot stems from Thakurmar Jhuli and adds a new edge online shopping twist which makes the overall story really unique, yet, relatable. A must watch. Hope a Brombhodoityo 2 happens.

10/10 for attempting to do something this unique !
surjofilmbuff4 February 2021
Yes, this is a highly flawed film. It has poor CGI, cheap ass production value and inadequate horror FX make up. Yet, it is a thoroughly entertaining watch and has it's heart in the right place. Having grown up hearing scary tales of Brombhodoityo and other supernatural legends of Bengal from my grandparents, I could relate strongly with this film. The director's intention to revamp old, forgotten legends has been clearly stated through the dialogues of a character, and this must be applauded. The story is innovative and unlike any Indian horror film I have ever seen. I hope more such films get made.

A good watch
sravanthiraj-382492 May 2021
Found this among an imdb list of folk horror films and was surprised to find a Bengali film among a list that contains films like midsomnar. No comparisons, but despite of the obvious micro budget, the film manages to be sell an innovative idea. A good watch.

A good watch

A good watch. Go in with zero expectations and do not compare with big budget hollywood films. A really good concept, let down a bit by poor effects and make up. But overall, an engrossing watch.

Do not miss this indie gem
israelmosciski2 May 2021
Do not miss this indie gem, one of the most promising horror films to have come out of India. Refreshing to see a film devoid of the usual exorcism trope.

Do not miss
schimmeliid2 May 2021
The horror effects are not great. Poor vfx and poor make up of the ghost. Performances are loud. Yet, despite of so many flaws, the film is seriously a fun ride. It has a campy 80s horror vibe. Do not miss.

Unexpectedly good movie !
nainamondol5 February 2021
I had downloaded this movie, but had refrained from watching it after seeing a couple of bad reviews. However, recently I saw it enlisted among the best Bengali films of 2020 by many critics. So, I thought I should give it a shot and went in with zero expectations. I must say I loved it. However, it is not a film for everyone. Hardcore horror fans might not like the comedy bits, especially towards the end of the film. I understand this is one the biggest aspects which has led to some bad feedback about the movie. However, I personally loved the blend of horror and comedy and the light hearted ending with a strong moral message worked well for me. Do watch.

loved it
tdrjulius2 May 2021
Had watched this earlier and found it to be confusing. It had a bad climax that did not even reveal how the girl tames the ghost. Hated it. But recently, I read in some facebook comments that the film version released initially was incomplete and missed the climax 10 minutes due to some technical glitch. Watched it again and loved it. Do watch the 84 minutes complete version.

Made me nostalgic
edwardoperry2 May 2021
Watched this on Hoichoi with zero expectations. Quite liked it. The low budget shows, but the writing is great. An innovative idea. Using the thakurmar jhuli angle was nice. Made me nostalgic.
