- Rape is indirectly referred to by the pirates and the scenes just before it of the pirate leader closing in on a scared woman is shown.
- Many scenes of swordfight, throat slashes, thai boxing. It's not 'gory' but it's no Jackie Chan film either.
- A village of fairly bloody dead bodies is shown.

- The a few longish disturbing intense scenes of drowning victims. The 'wizardry' around the film is heavily engaged with water and not all the characters are equally proficient in breathing it!
- There is a huge war at the end of the movie with many explosions.
