- Season four kicks off with tensions nearing a breaking point between Audrina and Lo.
- We'll Never Be Friends: Episode 1, Season 4
New betrayals. New rivals. Thus begins the fourth season of "The Hills." Finally moving on after Brody, Lauren reveals to Whitney that she has a date with an old high school fling, Doug.
Meanwhile, Heidi's sister Holly plans to visit, although Heidi has not notified Spencer. Heidi leaves work early to prep Spencer, but when Heidi gets home, Holly is there, making for an awkward time alone with Spencer. Heidi pleads for Spencer to be nice, while Spencer replies, "That's my middle name."
Lauren is planning a birthday bash for Audrina. Later that night on her date with Doug, they reminisce at dinner about old times; Lauren invites Doug to Audrina's party.
At Heidi and Spencer's apartment, Heidi and Holly make breakfast, but grumpy Spencer turns it down, complains about being woken up, and goes back to sleep.
Audrina's 23rd birthday party begins with cocktails, mohawks, and no Justin Bobby. Lo asks Audrina who she invited, and Audrina responds, "People, like, who I go out with whenever I'm not here." Seemingly politely, but not, Lo reflects, "We're just going to have to enjoy the company that comes." Seeing Lo's attitude toward Audrina, Lauren's mouth drops in shock.
The party continues. Justin Bobby shows up, but Lo makes no effort to socialize with guests. With this going on, Lauren feels caught in the middle and cannot pay Doug much attention. About the party, Lauren says, "This is a disaster." She wants things to be like they used to be.
Back with Heidi and Spencer, Holly is sad to leave their apartment because she had such a great time. "Maybe I should just move out here," Holly says to Heidi, while Spencer rolls his eyes and slams the car door.
Post-party, Lo pays Audrina a visit to apologize for being absent from her party. But this visit is for more than just an apology. Audrina feels the vibes, tension, and energy people give off, and she is not feeling it from Lo. Lo knows. Audrina concludes the conversation, and the episode, with, "I just don't care. We'll never be friends."
