- This week's challenge has the ladies strut their stuff while wearing a blindfold. For the photo shoot, the girls must pose with their eyes. Plus, there's a surprise elimination.
- The girls come home to find Elina's picture on the wall. She thinks it's exciting but almost too much to take in. Meanwhile, Analeigh confides in Marjorie and Hannah that she's really scared to be in the bottom two, because "if you are in the bottom one week, you go home the next."She's really nervous about her standing here. Marjorie sympathizes with her but then Hannah blurts, "I feel like you guys are always wallowing. I'm so over the pity party."
Both Analeigh and Marjorie are shocked by her response. Marj thinks Analeigh has a right to be sad and tells Hannah she's being completely insensitive. Hannah is not fazed. She confesses, "I don't see the point in beating yourself up. You just pick up your beans and you keep on rolling."
Tyra Mail (with yet another new photo of Tyra as the mail lady) "Tomorrow your modeling dreams could end up in the gutter. Love, Tyra."
Analeigh guesses they will walking a bowling alley runway, and lo and behold, she's right. The next day, the girls head out to Lucky Strike where they meet Ms. Jay. He passes out high-heeled bowling shoes and explains that a runway walk is all about precision because models must walk on every kind of surface imaginable. He tells the girls to put on your shoes so you can slide and glide. Isis is up first. She says "Runway is the one thing I'm really confident with so I've been waiting for this day for so long." But as she steps out onto the lane, she immediately slips. But that doesn't stop her. She keeps on going. Analeigh is up next. Jay yells at her to speed it up, but she keeps her steady pace. He's not impressed with her, or with Marjorie who's up next. He tells Marj to give him a runway walk, not a shopping walk.
And then there's Hannah, who stomps down the runway with her hands on her hips. Jay makes fun of her walk and tells the girls to help Hannah when they get home. Lauren Brie and Sheena go up without a hitch. Josslyn swirls and twirls down the runway, but Jay doesn't mind and says, "she gives us the extra which is great, because we can just pull it back." Samantha is a bit bow-legged so Jay advises her to slightly cross her feet as she walks. Elina is up last and walks with steady poise, and Jay scolds her to let go of the control.
Back at the house, the girls practice their runway walk and give Hannah tips. Isis shows Hannah how to turn but confesses, "I think she needs a lot of runway training."
Tyra Mail. "You think you have this competition in the bank. You may be walking right out of it. Love, Tyra."
Lauren Brie and Clark whisper on the couch. Lauren Brie says she thinks McKey has the most "Cover Girl" face. Clark agrees and also thinks Elina has an amazing face. She says, "Oh, what I would do for those eyebrows." Clark also comments that in the real world of modeling, she doesn't see Isis as being booked because her hands and feet are still very manly. She confesses, "I think it's time for Isis to go home."
The girls head out to the challenge and meet up with Ms. Jay again. It's time for the runway challenge. The girls will be wearing designs by Jeremy Scott, one of Ms. Jay's dearest friends. Jeremy greets the girls and explains that they are in a vintage bank because the designs are inspired by opulence, wealth and glamour. The girls get fitted and go to make-up. As Samantha practices her walk, she keeps lifting her dress. Jeremy is watching on the side and is not pleased. He scolds her to stop raising her dress.
Before the show starts, Jay reveals that the girls will also be blindfolded when they go down the runway. There's also two guest judges. Mr. Jay and Ann Shoket, Editor-in-Chief of Seventeen Magazine. Anna tells the girls that the winner, along with two friends, will appear in Seventeen Magazine, in an advertorial for Kira Plastinina, a 15-year-old fashion designer from Moscow.
But Jay has some bad news too. "Tonight you have to walk as if it is your last runway show. Because for one of you girls, tonight, it will be your last challenge."
After the show, the girl with the worst walk will be asked to keep on walking. No photo shoot, no panel. Yikes!
The show begins. A man dressed in black scales down the wall and breaks into the vault. A green glow pours out, along with the girls. Elina is up first. She confesses that walking down the runway is one of the best highs you can have and "even if you suck, you feel so cool." Analeigh is next and finally gets her confidence back. Even though she was blindfolded she still smiled with her eyes. Samantha stomps out next but when she gets to end of the runway, she lifted up her skirt again and gave the front row a show of her own. Backstage, Jeremy was pissed. As Josslyn walked down, she made a conscious effort to not overdo and just keep it graceful and simple. But when Hannah stepped out, she forgot all of the advice she received. McKey's dress had a drape rod, but she worked it. Mr. Jay was impressed.
After the show, the girls are rounded up for judging and critique. Ms. Jay told Analeigh she was "fantasticles and fabulous" and Mr. Jay said it was the first time he saw "the girl from casting" step out in front of him. They told Samantha she was working her arms too much but the crowd loved Josslyn. Ann calls Josslyn "a foxy lady." They all agreed that Hannah just looked scared. And the winner is Josslyn! But Mr. Jay delivers the bad news and tells the girls, "If you don't have a good runway walk, you'll never make it as a top model."
The unlucky lady is Hannah. She's sad to go because she's afraid she might have disappointed her family. Over the montage she says, "I've learned so much about myself and about other people. I've tried my hardest and that's all you can do."
Josslyn picks Isis and Sheena to join her for the photo shoot. They meet up with Kira Plastinina. The girls are inspired by Kira's designs and the fact that she's accomplished so much by the age of 15. The shoot goes great and Josslyn jokes that she's hotter than she thought.
Tyra Mail. "This competition is deep. Some will rise above and some will go under."
The next morning, Jay wakes up the girls bright and early and tells the girls the shoot will be at the house. They head out to the pool. For the photo shoot, the girls will have to "smile with their eyes" in the pool because they will expose only from their nose to their forehead.
"Your photographer today cares more about your eyes than any other part of your body." Suddenly, a man emerges from the pool with a camera. Voila, it's Nigel. He tells the girls to be "strong, sexy, and just brilliant."
McKey is up first. Her shoot is just so-so. Josslyn is next and is nervous about being underwater. Nigel asks her to relax then she admits that she doesn't know how to swim. He says, "You don't have to know how to do everything to model, but it's worth making the photographer and the crew aware when you can't do something." Clark has no trouble underwater. Jay is impressed and she "made it come alive" but really thinks she was just flirting with Nigel. Marjorie used her body to contort in the way and looks like a sea monster. When Isis is up, she's really worried that her "tape might slip." It throws off her concentration. Analeigh is up and "finally the model comes to life" and poses with grace in the water. Jay tells Christian that sometimes it pays off to be in the final two because then you finally wake up. She leaps back to the house.
Sheena is gorgeous and graceful and Lauren Brie pulls off an amazing shoot again. Jay warns L.B. that she only has five more shots, but Nigel says she doesn't need them. When Elina gets in the pool, she gets stuck in the same poses. They try to give her tips but she just falters. Samantha made it work and used her body to come up with unique poses.
Tyra Mail. Tomorrow you will meet with the judges, only 9 of you will continue on in hopes of becoming America's Next Top Model. Love, Tyra."
Elina is worried because she didn't do so great on her photo shoot. Sheena tells her to not be discouraged. Meanwhile, Isis calls home and speaks with Tremain, her godfather. She tells him that it's getting really hard and she's nervous. He gives her a major pep talk.
"It's not what you are, it's who you are. It's not what they think you are, it's what you know you are. Let them see the goddess that you are. If you don't believe it, they won't see it." She confesses she's still worried about going home.
Time for judging. Jeremy Scott is back as the guest. Before they begin, Tyra wants to explain to the girls how she "came up with idea" for the fashion shoot. In a nutshell, when she was on vacation with a friend in Mexico, they were taking pictures of each other with only their eyes exposed and she thought it was just so "original." We get to see the ground-breaking photos from her vacation. Yawn.
Sheena's up first and they think she's intense. Josslyn is next and Tyra tells her if she had squinted and "smiled" it could have been one of the best shots. Marjorie is next and her shot scares Paulina. "It looks like the headless horseman underwater." But Nigel and Tyra disagree and say high fashion is about making people have a reaction. They think it's beautiful. Lauren Brie rocks the photo again but they don't like Isis's photo. She tries to explain that about her concerns with the bikini in the water but Nigel thinks she let her worries hamper her performance. Clark is next and they love her photo. Nigel says she not only smiled with her eyes but with her whole body. McKey is next. Tyra loves the intensity but Paulina is bothered by the placement of her hand. Jeremy raves that although he gave her the most difficult outfit in the show, she did it with great charm. When Elina come up, Nigel tells her he was really disappointed in her. Tyra gives her advice on how to hold her head to get a better shot. They love Analeigh's photo and are happy to finally see her using her ice skating skills for once. And finally, Samantha. Tyra is impressed by her unique poses but Jeremy is still pissed about her performance in the show.
"As a designer, you are representing me when you are out there. It's not your show, you're not a rock star."
Time for the decision.
Clark is called first. And then the rest: Analeigh. Lauren Brie. Sheena. McKey. Marjorie. Josslyn. Elina.
Final two: Isis and Samantha.
Isis: Tyra tells her last season she stood out in the "background" of a photo but week to week she looks sleepier and sleepier in her film. One judge thinks she's afraid to stand out.
Samantha: She takes gorgeous pictures from week to week, but the designer was so insulted by her runway show, he was disgusted. And being a top model is all about being hired by a fashion designer and not insulting them.
So who stays? Samantha.
That right, Isis is going home. Tyra tells Isis that she was the girl who supposed to go so far, but she disappeared in her pictures and in her personality. But she reminds her that's she's already an inspiration for the LGBT community.
For her final confession, Isis dons her princess tiara and gives thanks for the opportunity. "I feel like I've developed a strong backbone and real sense of character. I'm going to go out there and make my dreams come true."
