Langston's First Night
Langston arrives at the laboratory wearing suit and tie and a heavy suit with crime scene on his first working night. Catherine assigns Nick and him to a burglary case, where Langston feels the first difficulties to collect fingerprints from the doorknob. Nick helps him to recover the prints. When they hear an explosion, they are assigned to head to the site to investigate the case, where they find Brass. They learn that the place belongs to Don and Paulla Kingsley, and they find a charred body inside the wrecked house, and construction equipment outside. Soon Paulla arrives with her assistant at the place and Brass learn that Don was depressed and addicted in barbiturate, having an OD a few weeks before. Now they need to resolve both cases.
"The Grave Shift" is a good episode of "CSI", with the first night of Langston working as a CSI Level 1. As most rookies, he has difficulties to get basic information like fingerprints from a scene, but as an experienced man, he tries alone afterhours until he learns. The two cases are very well resolved in the end, and Langston contributes with his experience and learns unavoidable lessons. My vote is eight.
