Fox News topped its rivals in the March and first-quarter 2024 ratings by a wide margin, but MSNBC and CNN showed the biggest growth versus the same period a year ago.
The past month saw major events like Super Tuesday and President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. Although the numbers aren’t giving the networks the blockbuster audiences of the 2020 cycle, the networks have for now staved off the large double-digit declines of recent years.
In primetime in March, Fox News averaged 2.14 million viewers, up 2% from the same period a year ago. MSNBC posted 1.31 million, up 15%, and CNN averaged 601,000, up 27%. In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 246,000, up less than 1% over 2023, while MSNBC averaged 133,000, up 24%, and CNN was at 124,000, up 24%.
In total day in March, Fox News topped with 1.31 million, down less than 1%, while MSNBC posted 830,000, up 18%, and CNN averaged 461,000, up 8%. In the 25-54 demo, Fox News led...

The NBC News career of Ronna McDaniel, the former head of the Republican National Committee, has been ended before it had ever truly begun.
NBC News said Tuesday that it would cut ties with McDaniel after a phalanx of popular anchors rebelled against a decision to make her a political contributor who would offer commentary through the 2024 presidential election. NBC News executives had hoped to gain new insight to the thinking of the modern Republican party, but NBC News journalists could not stomach the prospect of putting McDaniel on air after she had helped former President Donald Trump in his efforts to undermine the integrity of the 2020 election, which was won by current officeholder Joe Biden.
“There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group. After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor,...

Colin Jost and Michael Che poked fun at politics and pop culture on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” segment.
Jost dinged the story that a studio within 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where SNL is also housed, was infested with bed bugs. It was reported during the week that Studio 3A, where MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show is set, had to be evacuated due to an “unidentified insect.”
“For more on this story, everybody, look under your seat,” Jost joked.
Che went on to poke fun at Mike Tyson, saying that the boxer would have difficulty pronouncing Netflix, the place where his fight with Jake Paul will stream later this year.
Jost also didn’t pass on the opportunity to mock Republican Katie Britt following her strange State of the Union rebuttal.
“Those were all scenes from the one-woman show A Britt Much,” Jost joked. “It’s the play critics are calling,...

Fox News again topped the February ratings, while MSNBC saw double digit growth in total day and primetime.
The networks have had a mixed ratings picture so far during the election year, a time that has typically seen a large viewer uptick. But the dominance of Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the race for their parties’ nominations has likely had an impact, more than anything, on viewer interest, with much less suspense on the outcome.
That said, MSNBC did show gains. In primetime, the network averaged 1.35 million viewers, up 15% from the same period a year earlier. Fox News was still well ahead of its rivals with an average of 2.07 million, but that was down 9%. CNN posted 573,000, down 2%.
In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 231,000, down 23%, while MSNBC posted 122,000, up 3%, and CNN was at 116,000, down 5%.

Can Mondays do for the TV business what Thursdays and Sundays once did? Some of the medium’s best-known personalities are trying to figure this question out.
When Jon Stewart re-emerges Monday night as a one-night-a-week host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” he will join MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Jen Psaki in making bespoke Monday appearances for their network, part of what has become a low-key scheduling experiment that actually has high stakes: In a medium best known for offering viewers the same hosts in the same time slots five nights a week, can TV networks that thrive on news-and-talk programs generate new attention and advertising dollars by doling them out less frequently ?
“Monday is really appealing,” says Stephanie Morales, vice president of media intelligence at Magna, the Interpublic Group media-research firm. It tends to be the second-most-watched day of the week on linear TV, behind Sundays,...

Fox News and MSNBC saw slight viewership increases in primetime in the month of January as the 2024 primary season got underway, although the whole contest may be short-lived given Donald Trump’s sweep of Iowa and New Hampshire and Joe Biden’s nominal opposition.

Update: E. Jean Carroll appeared on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show on Monday night, where she said that encountering former President Donald Trump in court was like being in the presence of “nothing.”
“He is like a walrus snorting, and like a rhino flopping his hands. He is not there. That is what is the surprising thing to me,” she said.
That said, she said that she was “terrified” over the experience, which she said was the first time that she had seen him in person since 1996. That is when she claimed that he sexually assaulted her. A jury last year found Trump liable, and last week another jury ordered Trump to pay $83.3 million in a defamation verdict.
Even though she said that she was frightened when she took the stand, with Trump watching her from his seat, “Amazingly I looked out and he was nothing. He was a phantom.

E. Jean Carroll says looking at Donald Trump during his defamation trial last week was “like looking at nothing” or “an emperor without clothes.”
The author and journalist who sued the former reality star and U.S. president after he claimed that she fabricated a sexual assault allegation against him to sell a book — an allegation a Manhattan federal jury found Trump liable for last year — spoke to CNN This Morning‘s Poppy Harlow and Phil Mattingly Monday.
With the duo, Carroll discussed being terrified in the days leading up to the trial and how she felt after while hearing the multimillion dollar judgement in her favor last Friday. “He was nothing,” she said while discussing seeing Trump in-person. “He was just — no power. He was zero.”
“He’s an emperor without clothes,” she added. “It’s like looking at nothing.”

On Friday, following a contentious trial in which the disgraced former president often acted with blatant contempt of court, Trump was order to pay Caroll $83.3 million in damages for defaming her. The judgement stemmed from comments Trump made in May, during the ill-advised CNN townhall in May, 2023, that ultimately got the network’s president Chris Licht fired.

Rachel Maddow has landed a big scoop: E. Jean Carroll, who just won an $83.3 million judgment against former president Donald Trump for defamation, will join Maddow for her first TV interview since the trial ended.
Carroll will appear on Monday’s edition of MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show (9/8c), the network announced on Friday. Earlier on Friday, a Manhattan federal jury found that Trump should pay Carroll $83.3 million in damages for disparaging her and denying her allegations of rape. The total includes $18.3 million in compensatory damages and $65 million in punitive damages. Last year, a separate jury found that Trump...

On Monday, the woman who just won $83 a million judgement against Donald Trump will appear on The Rachel Maddow Show.
MSNBC announced late today that Maddow will sit down with E. Jean Carroll for her first interview since a jury ordered former President Donald Trump to hand over $83 million in damages for defaming Carroll.
Carroll will be joined by her attorneys Roberta Kaplan and Shawn Crowley for the interview to discuss the case and a potential appeal from Trump.
While not a huge dent in self-declared billionaire’s wallet, today’s verdict is still, in the words of CNN’s Jake Tapper this afternoon, “quite a chunk of change.” The judgement will be appealed, as the former president indicated today, but overturning the decision could prove difficult for Team Trump.
Fox’s Neil Cavuto made a point of remarking that it was a “unanimous jury” verdict. He also noted that...

Rachel Maddow’s next project will take her to Russia — in a sense.

Technical issues sent MSNBC on a Tuesday-morning scramble.
The NBCUniversal-backed cable news outlet was forced to run more than ten minutes of promos and ads and a snippet of a repeat from Lawrence O’Donnell’s primetime show just after 6 a.m. as engineers and staffers grappled with an as-yet-unknown glitch that kept “Morning Joe” from coming on the air at its usual time. Finally, “Morning Joe” co-anchor Mika Brzezinski surfaced on air at about 6:11 a.m. to kick off the program and apologize for the delay.
“Thanks for bearing with us, everybody,” Brzezinski. Viewers had initially seen a shot of the U.S. Capitol at the top of the hour along with some of the strains of The Who’s seminal rock song “Baba O’Riley.”
MSNBC declined to comment. Jonathan Lemire, the anchor of the 5 a.m. program, “Way Too Early,” cited “technical difficulties” via a post on the social-media platform X.

When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and California Gov. Gavin Newsom debate this evening on Fox News, it might not have a direct impact on the 2024 presidential race, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have consequences for their futures and for the network.
DeSantis is no longer the definitive Trump alternative that he was when Fox News host Sean Hannity first broached the idea last summer, and Newsom is not even a candidate, despite facing perpetual questions about his presidential aspirations.
And while the right vs. left, East vs. West, Sunshine State vs. Golden State matchup is a bit of a gimmick, it is enough to draw media attention, with the negotiations over format and setting rivaling that even of a regular primary debate.
The 90-minute “great red state vs. blue state” debate, starting at 9 p.m. Et/6 p.m. Pt, will take place in Georgia and, after some back and forth,...

In a promo, King called the show “our unfiltered take on the biggest stories of the day.”

Graphic images and videos have overtaken media coverage of the Israel-Gaza conflict that re-erupted over the weekend with Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israeli civilians, and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow questioned Monday just how to best navigate them. As the conflict in the Middle East continues, the role of mainstream and social media has become thornier.
“Since the attack on Israel started on Saturday morning, we have seen these murders and hostage takings of civilians and otherwise. We have seen them being filmed and put online for a strategic aim — to advance the purposes of the people who are doing the murdering and the hostage taking,” Maddow said, hosting “The Rachel Maddow Show.”
The journalist shared her dilemma of whether or not to air these clips and images, and expressed that they put “every social media company on Earth” and “everybody in the news business” in a difficult position.

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson wants everyone to know: she never dated Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida).
Hutchinson’s new book, Enough, was released on Tuesday. In it, she details her experiences working for the White House during Trump’s administration, including inappropriate moments with Gaetz.
One story claims that Gaetz “brushed his thumb across [her[ chin” and asked her, “Has anyone ever told you that you’re a national treasure?”
In another instance, Hutchinson recalls Gaetz allegedly knocking on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy‘s (R-California) cabin door during a Camp David retreat, looking for Hutchinson. When asked what he needed, he allegedly claimed that “he was lost and needed [Hutchinson] to escort him back to his cabin.” McCarthy told him “to get a life” before closing the door.
While discussing her new book on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, Rachel Maddow asked Hutchinson what she thought of a statement Gaetz provided the talk show host, denying the alleged incidents.

Donald Trump’s multiple indictments helped propel MSNBC to significant viewership gains during the month of August, while its rivals lost audience compared to the same period a year earlier.
Fox News still topped primetime, and it scored with last week’s coverage of the first Republican presidential debate, which drew 12.8 million viewers on the network and Fox Business. Fox News said the figure rose to 14.5 million when streaming, digital and encore airings were added. The debate was the highest rated non-sports telecast of the year in total viewers, the network said.
In primetime, Fox News averaged 2.03 million viewers, down 13% from the same month a year earlier. MSNBC averaged 1.55 million, up 19% from August, 2022. CNN averaged 723,000, down 1%.
In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 251,000, down 19%, versus MSNBC with 169,000, up 26%, and 147,000 for CNN, down 4%.

Hillary Clinton was all laughs and giggles Monday during her appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show, which coincided with a Georgia grand jury returning 10 indictments in the Trump 2020 election interference case.
“I can’t believe this,” Clinton said while she laughed as Maddow introduced her on the show.
Clinton leaned back in her chair and laughed some more as the MSNBC host said, “This is not the circumstances in which I expected to be talking to you.”
“Nor me Rachel,” Clinton added. “It’s always good to talk to you. Honestly, I didn’t think that it would be under these circumstances. Yet another set of indictments.”

Rachel Maddow, broadcast journalist known for her MSNBC slot “The Rachel Maddow Show,” says the secret to successful journalist is simple: “Life is short. Tell the truth and see how it lands. That’s it.”
This year, Maddow is being honored with the 2023 Variety and Rolling Stone Truth Seekers Award. She sat down during the Truth Seekers Summit, presented by Showtime, with Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh to talk about her extensive career, the current landscape of journalism and the very recent indictment of the 45th president.
On the heels of Donald Trump’s third indictment, Setoodeh asked Maddow to share her views on the latest loop in the former president’s political rollercoaster.
“The linchpin there is that the justice department won’t indict you while you are in office as President committing crimes, they will wait until you leave office,” she said. “But when your crime is designed...

Fox News’ retooled primetime lineup topped rivals in July, but all cable news networks saw audience erosion versus the same month a year ago.
Jesse Watters Primetime, which debuted in the 8 p.m. Et time slot on July 17, averaged 2.4 million viewers, an improvement over the temporary occupant of the period, Fox News Tonight, with its series of rotating hosts, after Tucker Carlson’s show was pulled in April. Tucker Carlson Tonight averaged 3.1 million viewers in July, 2022.
Another schedule change was the move of Greg Gutfeld up an hour to 10 p.m. Et. Gutfeld! averaged 1.98 million viewers and 252,000 in the 25-54 demo. The latter was enough to place it second in that category, to Fox News’s The Five, which averaged 254,000. The Five also was the most watched cable news show, averaging 2.59 million viewers.
Overall, though, audiences were off versus July 2022, with Fox News and CNN seeing the most significant drops.

Jesse Watters’ debut as the permanent occupant of Fox News’ 8 p.m. hour gave the network a boost in the timeslot, versus the series of replacement hosts who have filled the time period since the cancellation of Tucker Carlson’s show.
Jesse Watters Primetime averaged 2.47 million viewers during the hour. That compares to the 1.66 million that Fox News Tonight averaged in June.
Still, Watters’ audience was less than the 3.1 million viewers that Carlson averaged in the time period last July. The network is obviously aiming for Watters’ audience to grow, as Carlson’s did after he replaced Bill O’Reilly in 2017.
Watters on Monday beat cable news rivals, including an MSNBC Joe Scarborough special, which averaged 1.29 million, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, which averaged 686,000.
In the adults 25-54 demo, Watters averaged 161,000 viewers, compared to 139,000 for MSNBC’s Scarborough and 120,000 for CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360.

Kaitlan Collins will officially launch as the network’s 9 p.m. Et host on Monday with a one-hour program named The Source.
Collins already has been anchoring CNN Primetime, the show that has filled the time period since Chris Cuomo was fired in December, 2021. Collins, the former chief White House correspondent and later co-host of CNN This Morning, was announced as the permanent host in May. The network kept those plans in place after the departure of Chris Licht as chairman and CEO. A leadership team is filling his position in the interim.
The show’s time slot is one of the most competitive in cable news, with Hannity on Fox News and The Rachel Maddow Show and Alex Wagner Tonight on MSNBC. CNN Primetime averaged 548,000 viewers in the most recent quarter, according to Nielsen.

Rachel Maddow on Monday night took a moment to examine the state of the Republican Party — first through the lens of the presumed 2024 GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, and second through the lens of other leaders within the party.
Using Arkansas governor and former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as a case study, the MSNBC host of “The Rachel Maddow Show” determined that “they haven’t exactly been cleaning up on big, political-winning issues just in the current news cycle.”
Maddow took particular issue with Huckabee Sanders’ efforts to end school desegregation settlements and minimize the restrictions of child labor laws in her state.
“Don’t worry, Republicans are in control in Arkansas, and they’re on both those big problems,” Maddow said sarcastically.
Beginning her segment Monday night, Maddow gave a brief recap of how Trumpism has influenced the GOP, looking back to the party’s stuttered,...

Update: Fox News issued another statement to address potential changes to its primetime schedule, this time on the status of Laura Ingraham.
A network spokesperson said, “Reports based on various tweets by left wing activists are wildly inaccurate — Laura Ingraham, the top-rated woman in cable news, is now and will continue to be a prominent host and integral part of the Fox News lineup.”
The latest Fox News statement does not address whether she will remain in her 10 p.m. Et time period, but the network statement is a pushback on social media rumors that she is exiting.
The speculation about Ingraham started after the Drudge Report, in its main headline, reported that Fox News was about to overhaul its primetime line up, with Hannity leading the 8 p.m. hour and shows hosted by Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld taking the later slots. That left the question of what would happen to Ingraham.

“Last week, we can look at it factually, CNN had a town hall with the former president where he made a lot of allegations about the [2020] election,” Murdoch said at the MoffettNathanson Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference. “…If you believe that it was newsworthy to have a former president, also a candidate for the next presidential election, if you believe that was newsworthy in 2023, well certainly it was newsworthy in 2020 to report on similar allegations.”
Michael Nathanson, who interviewed Murdoch, had asked him whether Fox News “would do anything differently to not place shareholders in future jeopardy of more litigation.” Murdoch, though, insisted that Fox would have won the case eventually.

In her first televised interview since winning her lawsuit against Donald Trump, E. Jean Carroll and her attorney, Robbie Kaplan, appeared on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” to talk about that case. But of course Maddow brought up a related matter: CNN’s ill-advised, poorly received Trump town hall.
At one point, Maddow asked Kaplan and Carroll a question that critics of the town hall have asked since it aired — could the disparaging comments Trump made about Carroll during the event get him sued again? According to Kaplan, “definitely.”
You’ll recall that during the town hall, Trump repeatedly defamed Carroll. And of course, he did so literally one day after the jury in Carroll’s lawsuit found him liable for sexual assault and defamation.
During the interview, Maddow got to this topic first by listing things Trump said about Carroll that made him liable in her lawsuit. “Then he did it again,...

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow struggled a bit on Monday night to keep calm on-air, as she broke down the “apparent connections” between the country’s latest mass shooting, the last several that have preceded it and right-wing political messaging.
In the days following the mass shooting in Allen, Texas that left eight dead, it has been revealed that the shooter appears to have been a white supremacist, who frequently posted neo-Nazi content on social media. Of course, Maddow immediately pointed out that more and more shootings as of late have been racially motivated, most commonly carried out by white supremacists.
“All of these things have the same smell right?” Maddow said. “They don’t just happen to be connected in the news right now, they’re connected.”

When NBC News announced in January that Hallie Jackson, its senior Washington correspondent, would leave the anchoring duties she had held at MSNBC since 2016, some eyebrows rose. But NBC News was chasing something else on the rise: Digital audiences.
Since Jackson began anchoring a late-afternoon hour on NBC News Now in December 2021, a growing audience has sought her out. Viewership surged 108% over the course of a year. “You don’t see those numbers in many businesses,” says Janelle Rodriguez, the NBC News executive vice president who oversees the streaming outlet, in an interview. “When you see that level of audience increase, you know you are on to something,” On Monday, Jackson will double her time on her program, “Hallie Jackson Now,” to two hours, which means she will hold forth from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

As Black History Month comes to a close, MSNBC has continued its streak as the No. 1 most-watched cable network among Black Americans in February, a title the network has maintained for 25 consecutive months and that “The Saturday Show” and “The Sunday Show” host Jonathan Capehart attributed to the network’s diverse on-air voices and inclusive reporting.
“Black viewers can see themselves reflected back at them not just in the anchor chair when it comes to, me, Joy Reid, Reverend Al [Sharpton], Symone [Sanders-Townsend] or any of the other African American anchors, but also other anchors of color at the network,” Capehart told TheWrap. “The network covers the stories that are important to the American people at large, but stories that are of particular interest to the African American community.”

Fox News again topped the monthly ratings, as The Five topped in total viewers and Tucker Carlson Tonight won the adults 25-54 demographic in August.
The network saw a 4 rise in total-day viewership, while it said that its late-night show Gutfeld! saw its highest-rated month since its April 2021 launch, with 2.19 million viewers.
MSNBC, meanwhile, saw an uptick in its total day and primetime viewers for the month versus last year, while all the major cable news networks saw a fall-off in the demo.
One of the biggest news stories during the month was the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, driving plenty of Donald Trump commentary on Fox News and MSNBC.
The biggest debut of the month was Alex Wagner Tonight, taking over the 9 Pm Et slot from Rachel Maddow on Tuesdays through Fridays. Wagner’s show debuted with 2 million viewers on August 16, but, with a fall-off after that, ended up averaging 1.55 million viewers.

MSNBC is already feeling the loss of a five-days-a-week Rachel Maddow. The network has seen a viewership decline at the 9 p.m. Et hour since Alex Wagner took over the timeslot last week, both in overall viewership and within the advertiser-coveted age demographic of viewers aged 25 to 54.
In the week of Wagner’s debut last Tuesday, MSNBC’s total viewership for the hour dropped 15, from 2 million viewers the week prior to 1.73 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show dropped an even steeper 23 in the key news demo, from 214,000 viewers for the full week before to 164,000.
Among all the cable news networks, Wagner’s show still managed to finish second for the hour on the four nights she aired, behind Fox News’ “Hannity,” which nabbed 2.8 million total viewers. “CNN Tonight” was a distant third, with 766,000.
However, Wagner finished only slightly ahead of CNN in the key demo, drawing 164,000 compared to 162,000 for CNN.

Alex Wagner’s primetime debut on MSNBC scored 2 million total viewers on Tuesday night, which blew CNN’s 9 p.m. hour out of the water but wasn’t enough to surpass Sean Hannity on Fox News.
The show — which featured guests Mark Leibovich, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois) and Joyce Vance — managed about 183,000 viewers in the key cable news 25-54 demographic. That’s compared to “CNN Tonight,” which drew a total audience of about 866,000 and 176,000 in the key demo, according to Nielsen.
It should come as no surprise that Fox News Channel continues to dominate during primetime. In the 9 p.m. slot, “Hannity” scored about 3.1 million total viewers. Of those, 404,000 were in the demo.
“Hannity” beat MSNBC and CNN combined in both total viewers and demo viewers.

Alex Wagner’s debut as MSNBC’s Tuesday to Friday successor to Rachel Maddow drew an estimated 2 million viewers.
That was a solid number for the network, and its most watched show on Tuesday. It topped CNN Tonight, which had 866,000.
Fox News’ Hannity still handily won the timeslot with 3.1 million, a figure that was more than its two cable news rivals combined.
Wagner’s debut audience was a 27 dropoff from the 2.75 million for The Rachel Maddow Show on Monday. But that is not as big of an audience decline from MSNBC’s previous Tuesday to Friday occupant, MSNBC Prime, which featured a rotating series of hosts. Maddow has been MSNBC’s top rated show, and is the only non-Fox News show to have made it to the top five cable news shows last month.

When Alex Wagner debuts her new MSNBC show on Tuesday, she will be taking on an unusual arrangement that came about following Rachel Maddow’s contract renewal with NBCUniversal.
While Maddow, the network’s top-rated personality, will continue to host her show on Mondays, Wagner will fill the 9 p.m. Pt slot the rest of the week.
Comparisons are inevitable, but while Alex Wagner Tonight will share the same executive producer with The Rachel Maddow Show, Cory Gnazzo, and Maddow has figured in promotions for the debut, Wagner said, “This is going to be a different show.”
“We are trying to figure out the ways we can carry through some of the incredible intellectual rigor and informative analysis that Rachel has established in the 9 p.m. hour, and how we can make a through line with what we do Tuesday through Friday, and also add in some new elements that are reflective of my experience,...

The FBI raided Mar-a-Lago as it executed a search warrant on the property on Monday, Donald Trump said.
It is unclear exactly why the FBI obtained the search warrant, but The New York Times reported that it was related to an investigation of boxes of classified material that were brought to Mar-a-Lago after Trump’s presidency ended, rather than turned over the National Archives.
The raid also comes as the Justice Department has been investigating Trump’s conduct related to January 6th, The Washington Post reported last month.
The news of the search warrant on a former president, believed to be unprecedented, quickly dominated coverage on cable news. Typically, for a judge to sign off on a search warrant, there has to be probable cause that a crime was committed, senior legal analyst Elie Honig said on CNN. The network reported that the agents arrived on Monday morning and remained there for several hours.

Fox News gained in total day viewers in July in what was otherwise a ratings falloff across the board in the key cable news demographic.
Fox News was up 13 in total day viewers to an average of 1.35 million compared to the same month last year. MSNBC was down 1 to 765,000, and CNN was off by 10 to 541,000.
All major cable news networks were down in the 25-54 demographic. Fox News averaged 194,000 viewers, down 5; CNN was at 110,000, down 15 and MSNBC was at 84,000, down 19.
In primetime, Fox News averaged 2.12 million viewers, down 1; MSNBC was at 1.3 million, down 2 and CNN posted 731,000, down 15. In the 25-54 demo, Fox News was down 13 to 292,000, compared to 159,000 for CNN, down 18 and 133,000 for MSNBC, down 22.

Rachel Maddow plans to return from her MSNBC hiatus on April 11.
Maddow has been absent from her nightly The Rachel Maddow Show since early February, when she said that she was taking a break to work on a movie version of her Bag Man podcast and other projects.
