Silly
kosmasp26 April 2009
There are many reasons, why I (and many others) shouldn't like the movie. It's really silly, has many cliché's and is really over the top as much as that is possible. But in all the silliness and somewhere in-between the good, the bad and the ugly (jokes), I could find myself being entertained.

And after all, this is what the movie tries to achieve. Entertain. Of course, since I do speak and understand Greek, I do get the jokes, so I can't say what experience a dubbed or subtitled version will be. Some jokes are more than only for locals. But I think the overall silliness comes across pretty clear. This is not sophisticated humor, so don't expect that.

Talking about expectation: I haven't seen the original (or it's too long since I have), that's why I can't compare the movies with each other. But another user wrote, that some lines of dialogue got used again and the overall feeling was the same. Maybe in 50 years from now, there will be the next remake ...

A disgrace
maverx18 April 2012
An unbelievably unfunny, amateurish, badly casted, acted and directed adaptation of the original. It's sad how low modern Greek cinema and television have sunk. A complete train wreck.

I wonder whether the person who wrote the 2009 review is a member of the "production" company or just has REALLY bad taste.

edit: IMDb has a 10 line minimum length for reviews, but I really don't want to waste anymore of my time writing about this abomination. The sad truth, though, is that the majority of Greek films and TV series are cringe worthy, like this movie. What's even sadder, is that there still exists an audience for stuff like this. Here's hoping for the much needed betterment of Greece's arts, culture and political life.

Not what I expected...

Warning: Spoilers
Well I watched the original (the one filmed in 1959 I think) and the next day I saw this. To be honest it didn't impressed me at all! Petros Filippidis tried a lot that's for sure but the whole movie really disappointed me... Not many funny moments, the actors seemed to be bored in many scenes and the cast wasn't the best! "O Hlias toy 16ou" with Chatzichristos (Even if I don't like this actor) was a well-constructed movie that had nothing to do with this! I would watch it on DVD but NOT in the cinema! But the film isn't as bad as it sound in my review! That's clearly my opinion and nothing more! Many people enjoyed it! Just watch it and decide! Even if I wouldn't recommend you...

Remake that fails
petroxar2 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Remake that fails a 1959 Greek classic film that offers still today the laughs. This version lacks to bring the least of the actors, the directing, and the freshness of the production year, just an modern arpachti Sometimes I wonder why all these actrors are studiyng and cant bring the 10% of the acting all these old school actors brought without acting lessons If actor Thanasis Tsaltabasis played the role of Petros Filippidis and vice versa I suppose it would achive (maybe ) the desired

A great adaptation of the play by Al.Sakellarios & Ch.Giannakopoulos. Actors Petros Filippidis,Konstadinos Apostolakis, Antonis Antoniou, Tasos Kostis, Hristos Simardanis and young Thanasis Tsaltabasis with great actresses Themis Bazaka,Iro Mane and Nena Menti create a new style of 21st Century in this play that touch your hearts with their playing. Well done, to all!! And of course, to the director Nikos Zapatinas(To Fili tis Zois,Enas & Enas, Efapax)A truly classic remake for the fans of Petros Filippidis...The old fashion Greek Cinema comebacks in our days. Totally funny!...The script of this remake will enjoyed all the ages of people because it has a lot of authentic dialogues from the original and some fresh ideas also.Well done to writer Katia Kissonergi. Alekos Sakellarios and Christos Giannakopoulos maybe was proud if they watch this new remake of their theatrical play.50 years later, he remains uncaught truly!
