Half hour even that's too long
slyfox-4003221 January 2022
Jay Leno comedian ,car guy and sidekick kevin. Eubanks ask 2 contestants questions for cash & prizes..it's a half hour. Time waster anyone with half.a brain cell can or should be able to answer the questions..Jay practically gives them the not witty ,clever nor funny. Just a time waster as I said...

Having watched the original with Groucho Marx, this version totally has no comedic effect at all. What made the original great was Groucho himself with his classic quips and expressions. I like Jay Leno but this is not his kind of show. I think he is better off doing candid cameos in other shows. Sorry Jay but this version wastes your true talents.

ZZzzzzzzzzz...

I guess Jay is bored with his cars. This show worked for Groucho because Groucho was an interesting character. Jay Leno, not so much. I'll admit I went into this not a fan of the idea because the appearance of this show moved others we watch daily. I tried watching it, hoping that maybe it had some entertainment value my doubts were confirmed. Go back to your garage Jay. I realize it has a limited appeal to just us car guys and doesn't make you truckloads more cash like your time on the Tonight Show but this show has no entertainment value.

"Don't" Bet Your Life
mfreemanleadman18 September 2021
Probably the worst show to ever make it on air. Absolutely not one thing to recommend it. It exposes Leno as having not one iota of talent, let alone comedic talent. Makes one wonder how he's even sustained a career this long. But it does provide an answer to why Jay's kept his sidekick Kevin Eubanks around. He's the only man with less charisma than Jay.

Great to see Jay and Kevin together again

I enjoy this show. It's funny and nice to watch. I really enjoy seeing Jay Leno and Kevin Eubanks together again. I haven't watched late night TV since Jay Leno retired.

Like a poor rough draft
psalteress-0048719 October 2021
I really wanted to like this, but when I noticed that it only recently came out and was already on Tubi, I was suspicious. Who signed off on this yawnfest? Jay and Kevin both seem like they are just going through the motions, as if this is just a tech rehearsal. There's no energy from either of them. Some of the other reviews here are pretty harsh, and I've only watched the first episode at this point, but frankly I'm stunned that this is so boring. The contestants were likeable, thank goodness, but there seems to be no leadership from Jay, and Kevin doesn't seem to have any role at all. If I was in the studio audience, I'd just want to get up and leave.

Great show

You Bet Your Life is exactly the kind of entertainment we need to get through these tumultuous times. No politics or controversy, just trivia and funny banter with contestants. Jay also brings back some of his best bits from late night like headlines.

No money, no fun
davidzvolsky11 January 2023
Stakes are boring. Cough up some real dough Jay Leno. If the show wants to just drag people off the street and present them with nominal money, then drag in homeless and give them a chance to win a house or condo. HELL, it's California..........the State with the greatest disparity of wealth. Please make a sad show help people who are sad financially. I had to shut the lame show off and now I am trying to type enough words to give my opinion that the show is lame. Increasing the payouts is the only way to make the show interesting. $50,000 then 100,000 leading up to a million. Or maybe offering chance at a home with a consolation prize of 5yrs free rent and utilities.

Painful to watch
hexdesigninc28 September 2022
At least Groucho was entertaining - this is so horribly boring -give me commercials to watch PLEASE !! Questions are so easy -Id bet contestants are told to stretch it out and make them look hard-in the history of game shows this has to rank at the bottom sorry to see Jay Leno sink this low--Perhaps the largest segment of the public that watch are inmates-forced to watch in an effort to make them go straight. Horrible horrible horrible--did I say this is horrible !!

Awful Awful Horrible horrible horrible--did I say this is horrible !!

Talk About a Legacy Killer!
kczzrh2 March 2022
Jay, wake up! What are you doing? You couldn't be dragging yourself halfheartedly through these cringeworthy episodes for the money. You're worth half a billion. Sorry, I don't get it. A comedy legend I've admired for decades embarrassing himself and jeopardizing his legacy for no reason that I can see. It's beyond sad. It's maddening to a true fan.

A Lot Of Fun

Really enjoy this show. Not a game show viewer but there's something different about this that I like. Maybe it's the voicever in the beginning about Jay bringing people together.

Rexaxing and enjoyable comedy
jwbeller2 February 2022
If your over 60, you'll likely like this game show. It has easing going banter between Jay Leno, Kevin Eubanks and two contestants at a time. At times it's laugh out loud funny. Jay is a perfect host for this show. In addition many of the questions will be right up your alley or you'll be able to figure the answers out. If you're under 50, you may have to look elsewhere.

Horribly boring

I never write reviews, but I had to because this show is so terrible I could barely finish one episode. It's so slow, so boring, no comedic value, no entertainment.

Nostalgia
kewjr14 December 2021
Wonderful refreshing rehashing of the era of Groucho's You bet your life with Jay's spin on the game show. Sure it's cheesy and predictable, but it's a fun time for all . Hopefully it gets picked up for a second season as it has potential, he needs better advertisers like an automobile manufacturer like Groucho has Desoto Plymouth. Jay could do his own commercial for his sponsor.

Seriously?
untkay13 November 2021
Wow. Is Leno doing this for a friend? The "jokes" and other "comedy" segments seem written by Jr High kids. Not one iota of intelligent dialogue here folks. It was a bad idea to try and revive a show that was never really that interesting to begin with. Everyone tuned in to see Groucho.

Really Bad
klchu3 February 2022
Jay seems bored. I don't know why Kevin Eubanks is there. The questions are super easy and the contestants are just randos off the street. They don't even try to be funny.

I never saw the original show but it had to be better than this. Supposedly you can win prizes by just watching, but I was only able to earn 10 points from one show. It takes 1000 points to win a hat. At this rate it will take 100 shows to win a hat. Will this show even make 100 episodes?

HORRIBLE
runnermarygray9 December 2021
This show is not at all funny. The comedy bits that JL did on his talk show like headline news are not at all suited to a game show. Having Kevin there with fake laughs at all this unfunny comedy makes it even worse. On top of that, they must think America is 50% black and 50% white because every set of contestants I have seen are one black person and one white person.

More ads than show!
quockquock25 March 2022
I tried watching the other day and they had just come from a commercial break. Jay joked around a bit, asked TWO questions, and it was more commercials. Like 5 minutes! Then they came back and the show itself was plugging their own ads and sponsors. There is literally no point in watching this show. 16 minutes of show, 14 minutes of ads.

I enjoy the game
dh_thomas2 August 2022
I enjoy watching this game but I wonder why Mr Eubank can't have the same type of table as Jay Leno.

I enjoy the questions and the secret words. I also enjoy the headlines Jay uses.

Incorrect Question
i-042303 March 2022
I enjoy the show. I'm happy that Jay is doing monologues again. That gives the show more humor. However, they goofed. One question on the February 28 show was "On June 1 1865, Abraham Lincoln gave a famous speech know as?" The answer is the Gettysburg Address as a famous Lincoln speech. However, Lincoln had been dead for six weeks, as he was assassinated in April. Lincoln gave the address dedicating the battlefield in November, 1863.

I recommend for insomniacs
For the life of me, I could not focus. My mind wandered like mad. You'd think trivia would be fascinating, but You Bet Your Life is incredibly boring. Watching people engage in small talk is the dullest thing for me. And the jokes that are made during the conversations are straight up bad. The questions are easy to semi-hard. YBYL has the potential to be challenging and humorous, but it just feels so awkward. The episode I watched, Jay Leno was shaming the one contestant for riding his bike around LA as transportation. He was like 'how do you not drive, what kind of a freak are you?????' There's nothing unusual about biking to work and/or other places. It helps you save on gas. And besides, not everyone can afford a car. People do what they can to get from point A to point B. That just goes to show how out of touch celebrities are with the general public. Don't bother. If you want a real game show, watch Price is Right instead.

Love This Show!!
jmatthes-4129514 April 2022
We watch this show everyday at dinner time. It is light hearted, funny and easy to watch. Love the way Jay does everything but actually say the secret word to help the contestants say it and get the $500. Great show Jay! Keep it going!

It is a show that keeps my interest, which is getting harder to do as I age.

Warning: Spoilers
Jay is looking good and his laughs while having contestants answer trivia questions that always teach me some tidbit before they say good night. The secret words from their sponsor can add a bonus $500 to the players wallet. S back with You Bet Your Life. James Douglas Muir Leno is back!

Fun with Leno
shlbym3 August 2022
Not hard questions, more just for fun. The contestants are the stars. Jay's humility is welcome and missed. His humor is down home and puts people at ease. Reminds me of Password plus from 70's. The Co-Host is a nice balance to the younger crowd.
