Fernando Abadie directs and stars in what is a very atmospheric short film that within 20 mins succeeds in encapsulating a feeling of hopelessness and longing, while looking at the past as a broken mirror. I enjoyed the atmosphere and I found the acting really good as in my opinion passed over that feeling of longing about life and the hopelessness that surrounds death. An experimental effort is always tricky and I believe that Mr. Abadie has done a good job in overcoming most obstacles in his effort to show us the permanent condition of being stuck in a state where you are unable to enjoy life. Open to various meanings and if I may say even symbolic at times, La Permanencia deserves to be watched more than once to be fully appreciated.
