I love the playful nature & production of this series, but...

I love the playful nature & production of this series! It's innovative in production - use of green screen and filming and Rowe's multiple ways of presenting himself in the scenes, and ..., and .... I kinda find most of the connections between points a stretch, but they're still fascinating and informative. BUT I just hate that it's sponsored by the oil & gas industry! Mike & company, please come into the 21st century. I really think you can find a more responsible sponsor.

paid for by oil
rnewfy17 March 2024
I like Mike and his shows, this show is good, but its overwhelmingly obvious that its sponsored by big oil, and every chance they get they throw in a connection to big oil. Other than the obvious pitch for big oil to maintain its status at the top of the wealth chart, its a good show. Would be better without the BIG OIL sponsorship.

I love how he connects how things are built on by previous inventions or ideas. It literally shows how all things are and can be connected to each other. The show is informative and fun to watch. You can actually learn something from the show as well. A lot of historical facts are presented that have been forgotten or not even taught.

Another Mike Rowe hit
kalibeans8 January 2021
I got Discovery+ primarily for this show and the Science Channel. Worth every penny. Mike Rowe always manages to come up with great ideas or provides that added something special even simply narrating. Add to that the fact that his shows (and podcasts and Facebook shows) are family friendly! This often means boring for adults - Mike Rowe proves again and again this doesn't have to be the case. I love the premise of this show, historical information given in an entertaining often hilarious format showing how we are all, after all, connected. I sure hope this show lasts as long as Dirty Jobs. Well done all involved! A upbeat bit of joy for the beginning of 2021.

History in a flash...
suzpom11 January 2021
I think this series was GREAT! Mike Rowe is terrific. I love that it's obviously a TV show and doesn't try to be anything else.

Many don't like that the Oil & Gas Industry (those fossil fuels you MUST HAVE but hate) is sponsoring the series, but I'm all for it. After all, solar & wind can work ONLY when the sun is out or the wind is blowing... But hey, if you really want "clean energy", NUCLEAR is the way to go.

I'm hoping that Mike will do a Second Series, and a Third and a Fourth.... There's a lot of history to explore and a lot of connections to make!

Just a great show. The connections are anything but obvious, but in the end they all come together. Well done!

Learn how great pollution is.
straggler-909644 April 2021
This garbage is provided to you by the combined Oil and Gas industry.

Feel free to watch it, but watch this with your eyes open. The show is a clear reminder that nearly everything you touch, use, or see these days is an oil product. However, it won't tell you about the terrible pollution in the U. S. and other countries left by the industry during extraction, and their reckless disregard for all of us.

Great Show to Learn History

Most history shows are boring and hard to watch. Mike Rowe makes interesting and fun to watch. I hope this show continues I learned a lot.

Rip off
ce_wyatt17 April 2021
This is a rip off on two fronts. Firstly, it rips off the far better "Connections" with James Burke. Burke's series was a breakthrough, his delivery superb. While Rowe is pleasant, he doesn't stray far from the second rip off: this is a series to promote "BIG OIL". It's paid for by the oil industry and Rowe never wastes an opportunity to show how oil is in everything and how dependant we are upon the oil industry. It becomes sickening to watch.

Genuine Entertainment for the Whole Family
missjessicabogart24 January 2021
This series is fantastic! Weaving in and out of the sets Mike narrates his way through amazing connections in our history. Its funny, relevant, and genuine. His "buddy" Chuck ( played by Charles Klausmeyer) adds delightful moments of comedy, and brings an almost "Laurel and Hardy" feel to the whole show.

Great for the whole Fam, Six Degrees is exactly what we need in entertainment right now. Refreshing and honest.

Absolutely Fantastic !!
dan-138627 January 2022
I love this show, not only for the content, but also, and probably mostly because it shows the crew at work and shows many of the "behind the scenes" ways that the show is actually made.

So much of television is about the "talent" but it's really cool to see how it's made, if only in glimpses. The green screens, cameras, props and the crew are all as, or more interesting than the show itself. The content of the show is engaging, moving quickly with lots of vignettes.

And of course, Mike Rowe is the consumate story teller.

Mike Rowe could do a show about paint drying, I'd watch it
ona8824 April 2021
Man I've missed this guy! Now he's brought his friends!! Honestly, Mike Rowe could do a show reading the instruction manual of my stove and I'd be captivated and give it a 10/10. He's good people and just that entertaining. He makes you feel smarter without feeling snobby! It's like he offers accessible class to everyone! I feel like I've gone to an Ivy League school just by listening to Mike Rowe talk to me about history! Plus it's hysterical with elevated humor. It's a symphony of intelligent chaos woven to keep you going 'wow' from start to finish! It's at times cheeky and then relevant! Another great Mike Rowe endeavor. History has now shown, we need this man! Hope we get many more seasons with the man who ages like fine wine!

Make History Learning Fun for a Change!
chuckangell-4750820 May 2021
"Six Degrees with Mike Rowe" should be required watching in every school! Best history lessons ever conceived. Young people would learn more real history and would enjoy the process.

I discovered this show accidentally and BINGE-WATCHED the entire season! "Six Degrees" is just like potato chips. Not only do you get the very best personality in television, it is exciting to see the connections in each episode.

Thank you Mike Rowe, you continue to amaze and entertain.

Copy of James Burke's Connections, but with Oil Industry Bias and Funding
pidstr6 January 2021
Mike Rowe delivers his usual amusing and easy to absorb performance, spinning tales that feel almost lifted directly from James Burke's classic series "Connections". Only in this case, there's deliberate inclusion and repeated thank you's to the Oil Industry for the sponsor ship, and even a segment 'explaining why Electric Cars rely on the Oil Industry for electricity made from Natural Gas. Regardless of biased viewpoints, the show is perhaps more interesting for it's Behind Scenes nature, showing the green screens and cameras recording historical recreations. If it wasn't for the Commercial Bias, this would be a solid 6/10 instead of the 2/10, and viewers should find 'Connections" after watching this series, to appreciate the originals ground breaking film work and hosts story telling.

Connections Meets Dirty Jobs
larsonk23 April 2021
An American version of the popular James Burke series "Connections" in my view, but with the style of Mike Rowe. Nicely done.

Loved the old Connections show, but it lacked humor, this has it all !!!
woodythesingingcowboy7 August 2021
Used to watch the old Connections TV show with James Burke. While it was informative and somewhat entertaining, it lacked personality and anything to engage and maintain attention without a certain amount of fatigue setting in during the show. 6 Degrees does not have this problem, it is formatted more like a story and engages with humor and different forms of media to recreate events important to the storyline. The interplay between Mike Rowe and those acting out the events is also fun to watch. The show has the information and story, but also the entertainment side as well. Good all around !!!
