A refreshing season

Ok it has the same format as other shows of the DragRace family, but the queens are amazing, funny, and with passion...I can not wait to see what is comming next.

So far - so good

I have been watching RPDR since season one, when it originally aired, and watched all spinoffs and all stars. It might be the lackluster Down Under being shown in parallel that is putting ES in such a bright light, but out of all international series, España is standing out and really is showing what Spain is all about: cariño, fun, naughtiness, and warmth. After only three episodes, I am a fan, placing the first Spanish season shortly after UK's second (and if things continue, it might take the lead).

Great job so far, ¡no la caguéis!

Rest of the seasons

JUST CANNOT COMPARE.

And that's the truth whether you like it or not. As an American, even the show's references towards Spanish culture were easy to understand and definitely give this season a boost of quality since the country is so rich in it. This season appears to be so incredibly refreshing due to how spontaneous and non-filtered it is, I believe, thanks to the amazing cast. I feel like removing the overly 'family-friendly' vibe the last seasons of Drag Race have had is a big plus for Spain's format of the show. Somehow it takes much less effort to connect with each and every one of the queens as they're all likable, and you can sense there's no forced drama pushed by producers going on throughout the season. Honestly cannot wait to see who wins and I look forward to watching next seasons.

All hail Drag Race Espana!

Best international series yet!

So far I have found this season really enjoyable. Supremme is an amazing hostess! You can tell she really cares about the queens and is also really excited and enthusiastic when interacting with the guest judges. The judging panel is perfect! They are all experienced judges who are experts in the areas they are critiquing. Everything they say is supportive to the queens and they're never nasty in what they say unlike other international drag race judges. The queens are amazing and it's a really strong line up. I cannot wait to see how the whole season plays out but if it's like the first 4 episodes then I think it'll be the best season yet!

Sagittaria for the crown!

The best season of all of drag race idc
marielorax5 July 2021
This cast? So wholesome, so talented, so lovable, so unique, so charming, so funny... I loved all of them since day 1 (except for Dovima but her storyline and character growth through the show was INCREDIBLE and made me absolutely love her too in the end). They're insanely great at being hilariously shady toward one another while still being fully and genuinely supportive of each other in the most heartfelt ways. Also it's probably the most diverse cast in terms of gender identities which we love to see especially since drag race has a rather transphobic history.

The judges? So interesting, so kind, so articulate, so funny, so lovable... They all feel like professionals who know what they're talking about while also genuinely caring a lot about all the contestant. The judging has been pretty fair and consistent this season, a rare thing for international seasons especially, but also for the american ones. I found myself being very attached to each one of them which I don't think has happened for any other rpdr seasons. Supremme is so charismatic and warm, Los Javis are so funny, articulate and hum attractive fhcjcjv (also I've become particularly fascinated by them like to be a successful director/public personality with your husband...) and Ana Locking has such good and pertinent fashion critiques while also being very goofy.

The editing? So, SO good. Storylines feel so organic and natural and their payoffs... *chef kiss* Also the confessionals are always so funny chchcjv

The drama? SO GOOD!!! So much good tv and genuine, raw drama like you rarely see. Plus it's not petty, childish fights or overproduced rivalry. It's actual human drama that just feels real and entertaining and emotionally investing.

The challenges and runway? So good! I'm not Spanish and knew close to nothing about Spain's culture before watching the show, but I didn't feel a cultural clash at all. Instead, I felt so interested by all these icons, shows and references that I've never heard of before and it felt so refreshing and new. I can't believe I never had heard if the absolute legend that is Cristina La Veneno before!!! (Go watch the show "Veneno" by Los Javis if you haven't, it's great)

Conclusion: it's everything Drag race down under failed to accomplish but also what the whole Rupaul's drag race should be like; genuine emotions, unique talent and raw heartfelt humanity.

A breath of fresh air

The title of the review says it all! I think us RPDR fans have just become a little too used to producers' meddling, so it's quite nice to see an iteration of the franchise whose most striking quality is its spontaneity and the focus is on the contestants' relationships rather than simply the drama.

Warning: Spoilers
I've thoroughly enjoyed drag race Espana. It felt so genuine, and the judges give credit when credits due, unlike the other non-english speaking European franchise

if Carmen had joined the Drag Race US, she might have bombed for always giving the same look though fashionable. But in DR Espana, her hardwork was recognized and the other contestants are all so genuinely supportive of each other.

I was rooting for Carmen to win because she is so talented. She's fashion, funny, can act and ruthlessly sarcastic. In drag, she's so beautiful I'm jealous. Also like out of drag, she's so hot. Only she could made me envy to be her and desire to want her.

The rest of the drag queens are all so unique and I could remember who is who after first episode.

Supreme is also so lovable! I love how she's strict and tender at the same time, and no overly fake critiques for the sake of critiquing for rating.

Ana Locking is just so adorable. I keep replaying her laughs. So infectious!

The Jarvis.... well ... yum. Handsome and talented combo combo.

Well done!

Wow, just wow
miranbelaic17 September 2022
This series is the best one of Drag Race franchises, and I would even dare to say same or if not even better than US. The amount of talent these queens have is astonishing, they come fully prepared and make great tv on top of that with their interesting storylines and interactions.

Also, the judging feels like it's consisted of constructive criticism only, they really seem to want the best for the contestants and to do their best. Also, Supreme is such a good mentor to them, giving a warm mother energy when they need it the most during the competition.

The production is awesome as well, editing is done in a classic but fresh way that gives the whole experience amped up touch.

Well done! 👏🏻

Best drag race franchise hands down!
anthonyrau3 September 2022
There is something so simple, unpretentious, raw and powerful about Drag Race Espana. It seems to be a perfect recipe of a great cast, genuinely caring judges, great challenges (except the ridiculous acting challenge), organic editing (yes I know that's an oxymoron but it's true), and a wonderful celebration of the art of drag. I am a Drag race superfan, having watched them all, and cannot emphasize enough how good this franchise and season is in relation to others. The finalists and winner are so deserving, and yet they managed to achieve all of this without the manufactured drama, forced storylines and narratives. It gives strong Season 6 energy, with the winners of both being huge powerhouses, and the rest of the cast being the perfect blend of comedy, fashion, performers and dancers.

Warning: Spoilers
Season 3 is by far the worst season of this franchise. Not only does the favoritism continue, but it's clear who they wanted to be in the finale. The first 2 seasons were enjoyable with season 1 having favoritism clearly shown every time, but season 3 was just not enjoyable to watch at all. I was just hoping the season would end soon, that's how much I disliked season 3. Clearly when they brought back Kelly Roller I knew that Supremme just brought her back because she knew her out of the competition. This season needs to change because for being one of the best international series by other, I don't think it is in my eyes.

Arguably the best drag race international spin off
dovitaria24 August 2021
Every series / season of drag race is wonderful in their own way, but I seriously can't get over how incredible this season was. The host was phenomenal, the judging panel was perfect (seriously the best reoccurring judges even over drag race US imo), the cast was just incredible, and every challenge/runway really, really delivered in all elements. Drag race españa really knocked it out of the park and I can not wait for season 2.

Loose the Javis!
mayengerardoares27 August 2023
As a native Spanish speaker and an admirer of Spanish culture I had high expectations for DR España, which season one failed to meet. Season two led me to believe that the show had found its right path. Then season three came and just ruined everything!

The judges' favoritism towards some of the queens was obvious since day one and, far from benefitting the winner (who is an incredibly talented and intelligent Queen who could have won without any favors from the judges), it hurt her credibility. The Javis (whose omnipresence in Spanish television is soooo irritating) see themselves as more protagonists of the show than the queens, even though I have yet to understand what qualifies them to judge a Drag talent show. They have to go!

A huge disappointment after season two which gave me such high hopes!
