Burn the Witch
maxglen24 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is probably the most action packed and brutal episode to date. The game is revealed and it being a game of hearts, people begin to turn against each other in mere moments. The game is Witch Hunt, a girl has been murdered and someone among them is the killer, their goal? Identify the killer/Witch and throw them onto the fire. It's a simple premise but hysteria takes hold quickly. lines are drawn and sides are chosen as participants begin to drop like flies. The stakes are high, the music is great and it just feels like an event. Unfortunately I can't sing it's praises without mentioning a bit of a personal gripe and that's with the characters; in this episode, a few smaller players are brought to the forefront and given some time to shine and be they good or bad, they all are given a backstory of some kind and not all of them work. I feel their goal was to humanise these people and make them more sympathetic and make their possible deaths more meaningful but it just doesn't land that well, for a couple reasons; the first is that we just haven't spent really any time with these characters and throwing their backstories in last minute in the midst of everything else going on just kind of feels shoehorned, instead of earned. The second is one of the characters they attempt to humanise was literally about to molest one our main characters about 20 minutes prior and was gunning down countless innocents, I don't care if you got bullied in a 1 minute flashback, you're still an a**. Other than that though, the chemistry between the leads and a few of the characters that have been well developed across this season certainly pays off and from a technical standpoint, this one is pretty sound. I think it's a decent to strong 8/10 thanks for reading this LONG review!

Probably, one of the best episodes of the show
funnycommentor24 July 2022
The plot of the 7th episode was very interesting and so mysterious. The storyline was very well written. The characters were very well-developed on that episode, there were too many throwbacks on the lives of the main characters. Their backstories were very interesting and we'll explained. Overall, it was a very intense episode from start to finish. It was very bloody and there were many chase scenes. In my opinion, it was one of the best episodes of the show! The ending was so mysterious and I hope the final episode is gonna be epic!

Fantastic!

Warning: Spoilers
A fantastically suspenseful episode packed with action and murder. It has the same level of intensity as something like Miike's LESSON OF THE EVIL and is just as compelling. The nightclub fight scene is one of the best choreographed I've seen in a long time and it's nice to see all of the characters now fully coming to life in the closing stages of the story. Can't wait for the final instalment.

Will They Make It?
Littleman954 February 2021
This time they go to the ground, but the RB is immediately tackled. Now is third down, will they make it?

Another interesting episode with interesting and intriguing things, but still a little lower from the usual, there are some silly behaviours.

Episode 7.

Way out of whack now. Arisu not involved, backstory on new irrelevant characters. The world and the game becoming one.

Infuriatingly off point

Warning: Spoilers
I got The Walking Dead flashbacks from how unrelated to the plot this pointless mass murdering was. I might be a tiny bit thrown off because I enjoy the sci-fi mystery thriller parts so much more. I'll still watch the other episodes, but writing this not that serious rant helps me process.

It's a trope all survival plots eventually fall into, happily leaving their plot in the mud: Here comes "See?! Humans are the real monsters!" Did you come here for the interesting mystery? Oups. Sorry, not here - welcome to endless manslaughter because violence will sell the show. No interesting games or revelations here. Even the characters mutate into mindless story vehicles.

It takes 5 minutes to guess the twist solution of the puzzle at hand (which is supposed to be an unheard of 10 difficulty), but that doesn't matter. See, we added a few manic killers who are going to terrorize everyone for an extended period. It will feel endless and pointless to watch. Whenever something good happens, queue a bad person to ruin it. Let's have some cool duels, but everyone else just dies in really dumb, sad ways.

It eventually ends, but even that is painful. We can't just announce the solution and end the suffering there. We have to stretch it out. Let that tough one punch someone again. Ok again. Well, another time. Ok, that's enough. One more time. Have we made sure all emotions are communicated super clear yet? What if someone watches from 40ft away, will they be able to tell that all this is very, very sad? Can we kill another one? Ok, where was this going again?

Oh right! Yes, puzzle solved. Now what could give this more gravitas than people sobbing in parade watching a burning building? This is so sad, humans really are scary. Glad we made this original and interesting point.
