The Lanes are hosting Martin's society columnist Eloise Sutton (familiar husky, gruff character actress Reta Shaw). Her contract with the newspaper is up for renewal and he is afraid they will lose her. He asks Patty to watch after Eloise's spoiled little dog Pierre that she brings with her. Eloise bemoans having to leave Pierre in a kennel while she's away on an assignment for four days in Palm Beach. Patty takes on the responsibility, and a packet of instructions, for $10. Naturally, the experience becomes trying for everyone. Pierre can only be calmed when Martin sings "Rock-a-Bye-Baby", leading to a comically embarrassing scene where he tries to hide doing so over the phone in front of his boss. Ross' singing efforts in the backyard comically earns money thrown over by a neighbor. Soon, Pierre goes missing and the search leaves Patty stuck in a pipe. Her hopes for rescue lies in a little boy (Teddy Quinn) reluctant to help.
The plot is a bit weak and at times a bit silly, but there's laughs here.
