Learn more- With a double elimination on the horizon, some of the stars shined on Monday night while others faltered. Who would go home? It was time to find out on Tuesday.
Highlights from the highlight reel: Lawrence Taylor, after getting a "5" from judge Len Goodman, wondered what he's have to do to get a decent score from the judges. Gymnast Shawn Johnson wasn't fazed by Len's criticism that her routine had too many tricks and not enough dancing. She was just thrilled they got another standing ovation. And pro Cheryl Burke, celebrating the perfect "30" she and partner GillesMarini nailed, said she'd never had this kind of chemistry with a dancing partner before. He said, "Thank you, babe," and planted a big kiss on her cheek.
Play it again: Len asked for the first encore of the season from Gilles and Cheryl, who gave another rendition of their steamy Argentine Tango.

To the results: With a double elimination in the works, there would be no dance-off. Host Tom Bergeron let two couples off the hook: Gilles & Cheryl and Lawrence Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska. Then he put one couple into the bottom three: Holly Madison & Dmitry Chaplin.
'Let It Rock': Pros Julianne Hough, Chelsie Hightower and Lacey Schwimmer led an edgy and sensual group performance while Kevin Rudolph performed his hit single "Let It Rock." Later, some international champions showed how the Viennese Waltz should be done with a routine choreographed by "Dancing" pro Louis VanAmstel. Finally, Boyz II Men came out to perform a medley of classic Motown hits.
More results: The next couple set free were Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas. Later, Tom revealed that Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough were safe. But the second couple dropped into the bottom three was Steve-O & Lacey Schwimmer. Backstage, Steve-O told Samantha Harris, "I'm not used to dealing with high-pressure situations without the help of drugs and alcohol, and this is a lot of pressure. I've been under an incredible amount of stress and pressure and I've made it through, so far, without getting loaded, so I feel a complete champion." Tom said, "That may be the finest tribute to this show in eight seasons."
Judges' insight: The judges took an opportunity to fill some time -- er, give their insight on the dancers, so far. Some of the highlights: Carrie Ann and Len agreed that David Alan Grier needs to relax. Len summed it all up by saying, "Show me great dancing, I'll show you great marks."
More results: Tom revealed two more safe couples: Lil Kim & Derek Hough and Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. Later, Tom announced that Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower were safe, and put Steve Wozniak & Karina Smirnoff into the bottom three. That meant David Alan Grier & Kym Johnson were safe.
The bottom three: Holly & Dmitry, Steve-O & Lacey and Steve & Karina waited to find out which one of them would stick around and which two were going home.
The first couple out was ... Holly & Dmitry.
The next couple going home was ... Steve & Karina. That meant Steve-O & Lacey were safe and would be back next week.
