- Gregory Parker: [to Ed on radio] Just go careful. These guys don't have records, just sounds like they've been pushed too hard.
- Joel Graves: You know, I got two kids.
- Brian Bauman: My buddy Lorne has two kids. They went out for a drive today, cross-country, go live in a house that smells like other people. They got to watch their dad sell everything that they own for less than what you'd pay for a business brunch. So, you think about what kind of guy Lorne was before you sold out his family's future?
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Spike we've got a gentleman here releasing gasoline into an enclosed room without any ventilation. The concentration of vapors is high and growing and he's holding a lighter.
- Mike Scarlatti: [From command post] Well it's not just the lighter I'm worried about, anything sets off a spark, you got a fireball.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Firearms for instance?
- Mike Scarlatti: All firearms. Lethal, nonlethal, muzzle flash would be all it takes.
- Jules Callaghan: Okay, explain this to me. Flowers in a hospital. Wow, thanks so much. They're so pretty. Now, you get to leave and I get to sit here and watch them die.
- Sam Braddock: [smiling] It's a gesture. It's the thought.
- [throws the flowers away]
- Jules Callaghan: Huh. Short-term thought.
- Ed Lane: [looking for a temporary team replacement for Jules] Donna Sabine, you looking for a change in scenery or what?
- Donna Sabine: Change of wardrobe. Trying to get in the cool pants a long time.
- Ed Lane: Nice to meet you, Donna.
- Security Guard: Excuse me, sir?
- Brian Bauman: Hey, how're you doing?
- Security Guard: I'm... I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave.
- Brian Bauman: Oh, I... I'm sorry. Uh... uh, really, I don't want to inconvenience you, but, uh, we'll be out of your hair, but first we want to talk to Joel Graves.
- Stan Matthews: Yeah.
- [holds up a magazine with Joel's face on the cover]
- Stan Matthews: This guy.
- Brian Bauman: CEO of the year. You'd be doing us a big favor if you'd just radio that request upstairs for us, all right?
- Security Guard: Right. Right.
- Brian Bauman: Okay.
- Security Guard: [in his radio] Sector Two, I'm going to need some assistance in the uh, Media Center.
- Brian Bauman: Th... that's not code for you want to kick me and my friends out of here, is it?
- Mike Scarlatti: 11:09 a.m. Sergeant Gregory Parker initiates negotiation. Subject is level red, threatening self-immolation.
- Gregory Parker: [to Stan] All right, my name's Greg Parker. I'm with the Police Strategic Response Unit and I'm here to listen to whatever you have to say, sir. I'm here to help you.
- Stan Matthews: You got ten seconds.
- Gregory Parker: This isn't the way, Stan.
- Stan Matthews: Nine!
- Gregory Parker: It's not the way. Your friends know that!
- Stan Matthews: Eight!
- Gregory Parker: Your friends know when it's time to stop.
- Stan Matthews: You get him in here, or this ends right now.
- Gregory Parker: Everyone's a constable here. There's no rising up in the ranks. You don't make more money 'cause you risk your life every day. You make less.
- Donna Sabine: [in job interview with Parker] I've done my time behind enemy lines.
- Gregory Parker: [leans forward] Enemy?
- Donna Sabine: Sorry.
- [leans forward]
- Donna Sabine: I don't mean...
- Gregory Parker: Now, you know, the whole war zone imagery doesn't really fly around here.
- Donna Sabine: Okay. Sorry. You know what I mean, I...
- Gregory Parker: Do I?
- Donna Sabine: [pauses] It's an expression, come on!
- Gregory Parker: Oh... oh, yeah.
- [leans back in chair]
- Gregory Parker: It's a pretty revealing expression.
- [watches Donna lean back in her chair]
- Gregory Parker: You're mirroring me.
- Donna Sabine: What...
- Gregory Parker: Your body language. You're showing me me, now. Do you know you're doing that or is that just reflex by now, from all your time among "the enemy?"
- [sighs]
- Gregory Parker: Constable Sabine, you got the bonding moves down - belonging, being what someone wants to see and that's all very, very useful. But it concerns me a little when your psych eval shows inconsistencies on self-reporting. It's like you can't keep your story straight about who you are. This job, connecting to people, I need to know you've got something to draw from.
- Kira: [over P.A] Team One, suit up. Hot call. Hot call.
- Gregory Parker: [standing up] Okay, hold on.
- Kira: Gunman at large in the Commerce Tower.
- Gregory Parker: Someone to draw from. Pick this up later.
- [heads out]
- Donna Sabine: [standing up] Awesome.
- Gregory Parker: [mocking as he nods back at her] Awesome, yeah.
- Mike Scarlatti: [about Donna] She repels like a spider.
- Lewis Young: Thinks on her feet.
- Kevin 'Wordy' Wordsworth: Is it time for a vote yet or what?
- Gregory Parker: I'm thinking I need to think some more.
- Ed Lane: She's a no-brainer.
- Gregory Parker: She's got the chops, no question about it.
- Ed Lane: But?
- Kevin 'Wordy' Wordsworth: Boss needs to think.
- Mike Scarlatti: Copy that, boss needs to think.
