Another good episode

Only 3 episodes in and S3 is easily becoming my favorite season. Every single character is important so far and none are being left out or insignificant side characters. I like that. They all have a role to play, an important one looks like. Also the two main ships are being established and that's Max/Liz and Michael/Alex no more unnecessary drama. Now if only they would give us a promo at the end of the episode everything would be better.

Making the plot more complex does not necessarily make it better

Warning: Spoilers
So far the long, long-awaited season 3 is here and we are being fed scripts intentionally designed to the forefront more involvement of characters heretofore relegated to minor or back-burner roles. Handled properly this can certainly enrich the series. Season 3 has shown Maria with her visions introducing a new plot line about someone's impending death, followed by Max suffering progressive heart failure after his "resurrection" via Rosa and this brings Dr. Kyle's greater involvement in trying to help him, eventually tying in Liz as she reappears from California to Roswell after her research time in California. Michael, the perpetually misunderstood, angst-ridden alien of the original pod trio is now faced with being told he is the direct descendant of the big bad evil dictator from their planet or realm of origin, as if to falsely interpret the sins of the father pass to the heirs. Of course the latter prediction for poor Michael is provide by Max's clone/twin/whatever they have imprisoned in this super-fake (come on props get it together!) confinement cage which everyone goes to and talks to him about a myriad of topics. He looks just like Max with a full beard, like Max spent a year on History Channels' Mountain Men or similar.

Break away to Isobel, who now is exploring her new Empath skills to help solve Maria's vision and everything else save choosing between what to order at the Crashdown Cafe, all while prancing around in a Czarist-era long black whatever it is that would be ridiculous for anything else besides hunting in Siberia. And why is she suddenly gifted empath capabilities anyway since that fights against her characteristic usual cynical, sarcastic and generally just non-empathetic personality from the previous two seasons.

Now wrap this all up, together with Max's bearded clone escaping from his stupid-looking prison and now on the run to mischief unknown, serve it to the loyal fans who waited VERY patiently for season 3 and ask them to figure it out. Read the reasons given for the original series cancelation and you will find it populated with commentary on how the writers just plain lost their way in their season 3.

What should be creative science fiction with a whole realm of potential is now somewhere lost in a group of writers mental spin cycle.
