Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers out there that cared for sons.
kmkevinn-6473313 May 2024
Shawnee Smith (SAW FRANCHISE) her role as a mother reminds people that mothers in horror films do appreciate their sons very much. The premise is intriguing, with the killer's identity and motivations revealed early on as well as the sister shows up, stripping away the mystery that could have propelled the narrative. While the performances, particularly by Taryn Manning as Sam Marrin and James Gaudioso as Connor Cole, are commendable, they're not enough to elevate the predictable plot. The film's pacing is inconsistent, with a setup that takes too long to unfold and a climax that, despite its potential for excitement, is marred by dim lighting that leaves viewers squinting rather than shrieking. The twist of focusing on male victims is a refreshing change from the genre's norms, but it feels like a missed opportunity to delve deeper into the characters' psyches. "Bloodline Killer" tries to pay homage to classics like "Halloween," but it falls short of delivering the suspense and terror of its predecessors. The script's lack of subtlety and the film's over-reliance on clichés make it a forgettable addition to the horror roster. Is a film that might appeal to die-hard fans of the genre looking for a casual watch, but it won't leave a lasting impression. It's a middle-of-the-road effort that neither fully disappoints nor excites.

A complete let down...!!!
PANDIAN12062110 May 2024
A different kind of slasher film, one that digs into what it means to be a survivor...Bloodline Killer has a decent enough cast and a solid premise, but it gets lost in a plot that never really goes anywhere...

The pacing was dreadful. Everything dragged so much felt like watching this for hours. It was really tough time get through... The dialogue was AWFUL. There were a few noteble actors yet no one really shined & can't really blame them though because this film didn't give them a lot to work with, but this was so disappointing...

The fight scenes and kills were ridiculous of not gory they could have tried to make them at least a little bit scary and inventive... Also hoping for an explosive ending to redeem this film, but it didn't come close to achieving that...

Halloween Rip off, kinda.
hiramthreets10 May 2024
This movie was painstakingly boring and the writing was ridiculously stupid. Actress Shawnee Smith plays the Matriarch of the Cole family, she tries to rebuild her shattered life after the murder of a family member by her deranged and obsessed cousin. Dont ask me why, I was trying my best to pay attention but I couldn't grasp the reason for the murderous rampage. I hope this film doesn't do a sequel because I didn't care about the characters, they seemed to flawed. The actress Tarryn Manning played a nurse in the film also, she's been doing a lot of grade B movies lately. Overall, I'll give it a 4 rating.

Bland, generic and ultimately forgettable slasher...
paul_haakonsen11 May 2024
Given my love of the horror genre, of course I had to sit down and watch this 2024 movie titled "Bloodline Killer", as I happened to come across it by random chance. In fact, I didn't even know that the movie existed, so I wasn't sure what I was in for here. But I figured that a movie with another masked slasher couldn't possibly be all bad.

Writers Anthony Gaudioso and James Gaudioso, however, put together a script and storyline that I found to be somewhat bland and generic. It wasn't a particularly innovative or overly interesting story and narrative. Sure, if you're a newcomer to the horror genre, then you would perhaps get a kick out of watching "Bloodline Killer", but having been watching horror movies for 40+ years, this movie just really didn't impress me.

Sure, it was a watchable movie, but nothing outstanding or memorable. It was suitable for a single viewing, but hardly a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would be expecting a sequel to.

The acting performances in the movie were fair, but the actors and actresses were somewhat held back by an interior script that was lacking in the story and character department. There were a couple of familiar faces and names on the cast list, to help make it a bit more bearable to sit through, with the likes of Shawnee Smith, Taryn Manning, Tyrese Gibson and Bruce Dern.

The killer in "Bloodline Killer" was insanely generic and devoid of anything to make him interesting or scary. And the movie suffered terribly from that, because the killer was essentially just another random guy with a mask bought off of Wish. So writers Anthony Gaudioso and James Gaudioso sort of dropped the ball here, especially since there are so many other slasher movies out there with masked killers that shine in comparison to "Bloodline Killer".

Would I recommend you to sit down and watch "Bloodline Killer"? No, not really, especially not if you have seen a fair share of slasher flicks, then "Bloodline Killer" just simply doesn't cut it - pardon the pun.

My rating of director Ante Novakovic's 2024 movie "Bloodline Killer" lands on a very generous four out of ten stars.

"Bloodline Killer" might hold some appeal for die-hard fans of the genre looking for a familiar formula.
nERDbOX_Dave11 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Bloodline Killer" stumbles out of the gate with a promising premise: a survivor of a childhood massacre forced to confront her past when the killer returns. But much like the film's uninspired skull mask, the scares and thrills are sorely lacking.

Shawnee Smith delivers a valiant effort as Moira Cole, the traumatized protagonist. However, the script fails to give her character the depth she deserves. The central conflict between Moira and her deranged cousin feels underdeveloped, leaving us with a shallow understanding of their motivations.

The film leans heavily on clichés, borrowing plot points from better-known slashers like Halloween. This lack of originality makes the story predictable and dull. The attempts to heighten tension fall flat, resulting in more eye rolls than screams.

The biggest missed opportunity lies in the killer themself. The aforementioned skull mask is generic and forgettable, failing to evoke any real fear. This extends to the kills themselves, which lack creativity and brutality. For a slasher film, this is a cardinal sin.

"Bloodline Killer" might hold some appeal for die-hard fans of the genre looking for a familiar formula. But for anyone seeking a truly chilling experience, this film is a forgettable entry in the overpopulated slasher subgenre.

Doesn't deserve your attention
mitzthemage20 May 2024
Poorly written, poorly acted and the ending is just plain stupid. The "main villain" is a bullet proof copy of Jason Voorhees from Wish and everybody else is a one dimensional caricature made out of cardboard. People seem to trip and faint at the slightest gust of wind so that the plot can happen, if there was an actual plot.

They kept flashbacking to something that didn't connect to anything else except on the writer's head. What was the deal with the flashbacks and why were they relevant, we'll never know. The script was probably written in 10 minutes on a napkin by someone on their way to their work. Would not recommend to anyone.

Warning: Spoilers
Horrible acting horrible script everything about it horrible. The two scenes that made me laugh on how stupid it was the scene where a girl gets out her car to see if everything's ok and witness a cop murdered then ran to her car instead of immediately driving off she tries to shut the door. The other scene was bad acting plus stupid script because when the two brothers are in the hospital their reaction so unrealistic and stupid they start fighting and the actor who played the mad actor was not good. The actress Tarryn manning that played a nurse did a good job but she should not have taken the role of this horrible movie tbh. I give this movie a 3 only reason i watched this was because no good scary movies out and its not to scary that id be scared to watch alone and sleep after.

This is the worst movie i have ever watched (i have watched over 2500 movies)
masrorabdulhakeem19 May 2024
I watched this movie just because i (for some reason) wanted to update my worst-movies-ever list, and Goddamn this movie made its way to be the top1(top worst movie i have ever watched)

And it's obvious that all the 10/10 ratings are from the production team and the actors, if only another 100 people watch this piece of garbage, its rating can't even surpass 2/10.

The moral of the story is, just don't waste your time and money on this trash (i can't even call it a movie), the title might be interesting but the movie is just soo bad i don't even know from where to start, bad acting, bad performance, a lot of unnecessary boring scenes, it just feels like it's written and directed by a 13-year-old

I can never take my 1hour and 45 minutes back.......

Close the Door
nogodnomasters22 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The film takes place on Halloween. The Cole family is handing out candy. Dillon Cole (Sal Rendino) eats as much candy as he hands out. He is the father. He is murdered by a man in a "Skulleton" mask, based on a film about a serial killer. Moira (Shawnee Smith) his wife manages to shoot the axe murderer before he can kill her grown son Connor (James Gaudioso) who still lives at home with his grown brother Michael (Drew Moerlein). The killer is named Lee Morris (Adam Shippey). He is discovered shot in the woods by his sister Samantha (Taryn Manning) a nurse who cares for his wound and binds him. He stays that way until next Halloween. We get the back story that Lee is Moria's cousin who knows he is mentally ill. Bruce Dern plays her psychologist which was not his best role.

This film takes place in the early eighties. The story doesn't make much sense and it appears they left off some backstory about the detectives. Not well directed or edited.

Guide: F-word. Near sex, no nudity.

Worth a Watch
metlifedirect12 May 2024
I rented this movie on Prime. Was wanting a good old fashion scary/slasher movie to enjoy. Boy, I was not disappointed . Plenty of jump scares and scary moments, but the underlying theme of this film centers around a family dealing with thw loss of a husband and father. The family dynamic between Damien Maffei, Drew Moerlein and Shawnee Smith is tense, loving and well written . The writer managed to give us what we wanted and some elements we didnt know we needed. A well written and acted film. It doesn't hurt that the two lead male actors are hot as hell. No spoilers here but I encourage you to give it a go and see what you think. Did I mention it was scary :)

A niche film that couldn't escape cliches but had decent writing and decent horror elements
beefcakeyey16 May 2024
It's pretty neat and has a couple plot twists that I'd mark down as remarkable, nothing groundbreaking but it is worth a watch if you're rather new to the horror genre. The acting is pretty good for the main cast with a few mediocre moments here and there with a couple moments where you could scream at the screen and say "don't do that, that's idiotic!" which is pretty much a staple in horror at this point. It will not rile you up this much if you're a horror veteran and you'll be leaving the theatre thinking the movie left some feelings to be desired. Nevertheless I'd say it's worth a watch as it does involve a few creative sparks here and there.

New Horror Icon to Have Nightmares About
cardonaerik13 May 2024
If you like spilling your popcorn every time an uncomfortable suspense builds into an explosive jump scare or wicked kill, this is the movie for you. The setting is its own beautifully troubled character, the kind of small suburbia we both reminisce over and are simultaneously haunted by. Brilliant decision to start the film in a Jordan Peele - esque prologue where the safety of a hometown turns bleak in a heartbeat. Don't be surprised if the movie makes you pause in the middle to check your windows and lock your doors :) I can't wait for the sequel and I hope the franchise continues to top itself each time out.

Stalker Slasher
bettyshields-4328910 May 2024
I went into this hopeful there was a slasher I wanted, a slasher I needed. What I got was a mixed bag of delayed promises and a look at the potential of a slasher rising. What pulled me in was Shawnee Smith, she's in her element in the horror genre and she delivers. The rest of the cast , Tyrese Gibson, Taryn Manning and Bruce Dern are solid in their roles. There's a bit of predictability with the storyline and a lack of cohesion from time to time but the feeling of unease helps make up for it. There's a sense of foreboding that creeps in and it does, but not as often as I'd like it to. When we do meet the slasher it's a welcome sight and more of it would be better.

Slasher horror fun!
hholt-8632313 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If you love a slasher film Bloodline Killer won't disappoint. It pays homage to the slasher films that have come before it, especially Halloween. It is well cast and the opening scene will have you hooked. It follows the story of Moira, played by Shawnee Smith from the Saw franchise, and her cousin who is the Skulleton aka Bloodline Killer. The film opens with him coming back for her family and her husband is brutally murdered in front of her son, Connor, played by the exceptional James Gaudioso (who also wrote the film). As most horror films goes, you know the road they're headed down, and it's filled with suspense. Additionally, Taryn is exceptional as Sam Merton, the nurse, who has an obsession with the the killer. Grab the popcorn and enjoy the ride!

Axe Man
Vigstunsipia11 May 2024
Indie horror with an old school style that pulls from other more prominent films in the genre. What gives this film it's center is Shawnee Smith in the role of Moira Cole, she does her best with dialogue that can a bit messy as is the script but prevails to deliver a believable Matriarch riddled by the past and ready to face what evil is yet to come. Tyrese Gibson is the other half of this mission in the role of Detective Cyphers and does grounded work with what he is given and at his best when he shares the screen with Shawnee. I really needed more of the slasher and more often but went along with the paranoid and growing threat Moira was sensing.

Slash the night away
lexinmayshayna10 May 2024
A slasher with a mask forged from hellfire is front and center on the poster and is cloaked in the shadows, jut waiting to strike in a small quaint suburban town. With every kill the slasher makes its mark leaving a paranoid and consumed matriarch in Moira Cole (Shawnee Smith) all the more unravelled. She carries the burden and haunting secrets of the past that follow and linger like a chill in the fall air that surrounds this horror thriller. The build is slow and eerie and the inevitable outcome is a welcome entry into this genre. Will they survive and what will be left if they do hangs in the balance as the journey of Moira and her family fight for their lives.

Get in Line for Bloodline
diegelj-6383710 May 2024
There's a past in all of this slashing but it's muttled by a storyline that's not clear at first. It took me a while to catch up and get into the idea that a slasher preoccupies the minds and residents of a small town under the threat of so said killer on the loose. I needed to see more of the resident slasher and more of what he could do but Shawnee Smith made up for anything in-between. It felt like she kept the secret of what was to come just behind her eyes, always watching and telling without speaking. There's a haunting reminder in the killers wake and it feels like there's more to come.

Written to Be a Franchise
lauralabarbato15 May 2024
This is a modern day horror film, in the sense that we actually take the time to meet the Cole family. We see, from the outside in, a 3-Dimensional family that is trying to figure out how to move on with their lives after life changing tragedy, where each member of the family reacts differently to the past trauma. After we meet the Coles, several ugly family secrets from the past are revealed and resurface midway through the film to the very end, leaving us on the edge of our seats and filled with many different emotions. Just when you think everything is looking brighter, it gets dark real quick. I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel!

Dear Slasher
benbestyet19 May 2024
I'm admittedly a Shawnee Smith fan, she delivers in this slasher shaped storyline. I put it more in the thriller, horror, slasher category because there are elements of all of them are in here. At some points the thriller, horror and slasher elements fight against each other making for a bit of an incongruous through line but not distracting enough to take attention away from the lead - Shawnee Smith. There are a lot of moments where the story really works to give background and development to the slasher/killer. It's the psychological and action pieces that make this shine enough to keep it relevant and unique enough to be a good watch.
