- TriviaSince this premise of this program was about college football, there are lots of education jokes in Red's opening monologue. The main sketch, titled "Clem Goes to College", features Clem Kadiddlehopper leaving the farm and Maw and Paw Kadiddlehopper after being awarded a scholarship to Klobber University to play football. The Redettes perform a production number as college cheerleaders. Guest Martha Stewart plays the daughter of the football coach and, during a malt shop segment, sings "Zing! Went the Strings to my Heart." In a surprise ending, considering his previous clumsy hillbilly persona, Clem actually scores the winning touchdown.
