Angela Bassett hit a special golden hue carpet on Thursday to celebrate the docuseries “Queens.” Bassett serves as executive producer and narrator of the show, which explores female leaders in wildlife species.
From the beginning of pre-production, the project was entirely led by women.
“I said ‘no,’ initially, because I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, to be in a booth so we can do these voiceovers [is] many, many hours.’ And then they came back again. And they told me more,” Bassett related. “And when I heard that the crew – the entire crew – behind the scenes, behind the characters, was made up of women and that the production team from around the world and the crew went through leaps and measures to photograph these animals – wow! That spoke to my heart – just the resilience and the spirit of that.”

Exclusive: Bravo is taking a victory lap for its 2023 performance.
According to 35-day Nielsen data, nearly every returning season of a Bravo-first series that premiered last year saw season-over-season growth among total viewers. That includes the second season of Below Deck: Down Under, which grew by 110%. Vanderpump Rules Season 10 saw 109% growth.
Among others were The Real Housewives of Miami Season 5 (+81% growth), Southern Hospitality Season 2 (+44% growth), and Married to Medicine Season 10 (+37% growth).
The NBCUniversal-owned network is also touting another interesting metric: viewer loyalty. Nielsen data shows that, on average, Bravo viewers tuned into the network on more days of the year than viewers of any other cable network.
It will likely not come as a surprise that Vanderpump Rules saw series’ most-watched season — a fairly big accomplishment for the show in its tenth installment. The season saw a sizable spike in viewership in the wake of Scandoval. You know, when...

Plot: A three-part documentary series chronicling the iconic forefathers of hip-hop, Run Dmc. This unique series will take you back to the 1980s, when Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, Darryl “Dmc” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell cultivated a one-of-a-kind sound that took not only Queens, but the world, by storm.

I was shocked when I became engrossed by the series and began appreciating jazz as never before. Chris Hemsworth Once Thought Marvel Would Fire Him From The Role Of Thor ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Chris Hemsworth might return for a fifth installment in his Thor franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there was a time when he was apprehensive of himself in the character. He thought he might lose his job and get kicked out by Marvel. At that time, Natalie Portman was already an accomplished star in Hollywood, while this 2011 movie was one of Chris’ first big jobs.
Hemsworth is a tall and handsome man who fits the bill perfectly to portray a demigod on screen. After watching him as the God of Thunder in the MCU, his fans are convinced it was one of the best decisions Marvel ever made. The Ghostbusters: Afterlife (watch it Here) sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (which, of course, also serves as a sequel to the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II) is set to reach theatres on March 22nd – and during an interview with Empire magazine, director/co-writer Gil Kenan revealed that the film draws inspiration from the 1986 – 1991 animated series The Real Ghostbusters‘ willingness to be weird and wild.
Kenan said he appreciated The Real Ghostbusters‘ “wild, original and weird-as-fuck villains. We wanted to bring that show’s looseness and fearlessness to this movie. I think it’s going to surprise people just how big this film is.“
As Empire pointed out, The Real Ghostbusters “unleashed such oddities as a werechicken, a boogeyman, and an alternate reality with ‘Peoplebusters’.” As for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the main villain is something known as the Death Chill, and it also features a giant creature known as the Sewer Dragon.

Gearing up for the holidays, Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses” has dropped the trailer for its second season.
Set after the events of “The Santa Clause” films, the Christmas television series has Tim Allen reprising his role as Scott Calvin/Santa, who decides to retire from the “Santa” position in season one and find a new replacement. However, the end of the first season saw Scott fail to find an individual worthy of the “Santa” title. This time around, Scott is determined to train his son, Cal (Austin Kane), to be the perfect Santa successor.
“The best part of Christmas is spending time with your loved ones,” Scott says in the new trailer. “Which is why I’m so geeked to turn Santa into a family business.”
All doesn’t go smoothly for the Calvin family, though, and there’s a new “Mad Santa” (Eric Stonestreet) who was previously exiled...

The King of Queens wasn’t a rating juggernaut. Still, the series was popular for CBS in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The show followed the lives of a married couple, Carrie and Doug Heffernan, as they adjusted to life with Carrie’s father, Arthur Spooner, living with them. While the series focused on the trials and tribulations of married life, there was one aspect of matrimony that the show did not explore. Carrie and Doug didn’t have children during the show’s initial run. The production team opted not to give the couple children partly for syndication purposes.

After nearly five months, the historic Hollywood writers' strike is officially over. "What we have won in this contract - most particularly, everything we have gained since May 2nd - is due to the willingness of this membership to exercise its power, to demonstrate its solidarity, to walk side-by-side, to endure the pain and uncertainty of the past 146 days," the union wrote in a bulletin shared with its members on Sept. 24. Queens (Malkot) is an Israeli crime drama set in Tel Aviv. The basic premise is that all the ranking members of a crime family are assassinated, leaving the wives and girlfriends to run the business. This could be spun into a gripping, fast paced yarn. It could be taken in a number of interesting directions. Unfortunately it falls down in the execution.
During a drug fueled bachelor party on a yacht, Jacob Malka, his son and most of his men are gunned down. The only survivor, the only witness, is his nine year old grandson Ido (Benjamin Schwabe). The matriarch of the family, Dori Malka, played by the former Eurovision contestant Rita (Yahan-Farouz), has to take charge. The plot lurches from left to right with twists, big reveals, and unbelievable contrivances. With enough speed and panache, Queens could run roughshod over disbelief. It certainly has the momentum, but it can't avoid.

The cast of the Israeli TV series “Queens,” Season 1, on MHz Choice
The extent to which you may enjoy the Israeli TV series “Queens: Season 1″ depends on expectations from its Mafia-esque premise. All the men in one of the country’s crime families are killed at the beginning, except for one overlooked child, who may or may not have seen the shooter(s). The wives and daughters find themselves on the brink of losing all the wealth and power their husbands oversaw when rival families swoop in claiming debts to be honored and businesses to snatch from them. The women decide to defend their turf and family honor by trying to do what their men had done in running their illegal businesses.
For American audiences, the first analog that comes to mind is “The Sopranos,” with infighting among competing families and ambitious underlings. The closer comparison might be with “Queen of the South,...

The opposite-people-coming-together-in-a-crisis comedy has a good tradition in Hollywood cinema (and perhaps there is a more succinct term for it that I can't think of). Certainly with siblings especially, it provides relatable complex relationships for a broad audience to connect with. But there's no reason it has to be dull, and no reason it can't also stretch some boundaries and have some fun pocking fun at stereotypes. A film that does both of those is Quiz Lady. Oscar-winning filmmaker and veteran TV director Jessica Yu has a great deal of fun with the story of two sisters who need to win big to save the family dog. With Canada's sweetheart Sandra Oh and Awkwafina as the...

Jennifer Esposito shocked Blue Bloods fans when she appeared in the season 13 finale. Esposito reprised her role as Jackie Curatola for the first time in 10 years. The sudden appearance of the familiar face has fans wondering what it means for the show’s future. Will Jackie return to the Blue Bloods universe for good? While seeing Danny Reagan’s old partner return for good would be nice, it seems unlikely that Jennifer Esposito will be rejoining the Blue Bloods cast.
Jennifer Esposito’s exit from the ‘Blue Bloods’ cast was full of bad blood
Because of her controversial exit, Esposito’s return to Blue Bloods was a huge shock to fans. Esposito was written out of the series in season 3 when her Celiac Disease diagnosis led her to ask the network to consider a part-time schedule. They declined the request and suspended her instead.

While in production for Theater Camp, costume designer Michelle J. Li took a trip down memory lane to visit her high school theater department to figure out what kids were really wearing these days.
“I wanted to gain a sense of authenticity,” Li tells The Hollywood Reporter. With a background in theater that led her to the Carnegie Mellon drama school, along with a lifetime of attending Broadway shows with her family, Li, the daughter of Chinese immigrants, always knew she would end up in a creative field.
“The stereotype is that many Asian immigrant parents dissuade their children from pursuing entertainment or careers that are less financially stable, and it makes total sense,” she explains. “However, my parents did encourage me to pursue art, and so I always knew that I was going to land in something creative.”
Since, Li has worked on starry comedies including the likes of...

Bowen Yang is trying to get back on the horse after a production mishap.
The “SNL” star detailed how while filming “Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens” Season 3, he “almost died” after a horse he was riding was spooked at the sight of a drone.
“Actually, [it’s] not fun to be on a horse,” Yang said during his “Las Culturistas” podcast. “[I’ve] ridden a horse for camera. Guess what? This crew, and I love this crew, but this crew decided to have a drone, and of course the horse don’t know what the fuck that is, and then I almost died.”
He continued, “I almost died in Iceland! Even hundreds of yards away, these horses can clock. They were spooked and then I almost [fell off]. I almost got bucked, and there was part of me, though, that was like, ‘This is a good way to go.'”

It’s not hard to see how reality is often stranger than fiction on this big blue marble we live on. On social media, on new sites, and on communal forums, it’s merely a stone’s throw to the next unbelievably real story that’s happened in the world of today’s culture. The people who have already brought the hyper realities of shows like Rick and Morty and Community now present an AppleTV+ animated series that challenges our strange world. The new trailer for Strange Planet is unleashed and gives us a look at the new show that is set to debut globally with the first three episodes on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
The official synopsis from AppleTV+ reads,
Based on the New York Times #1 bestselling graphic novel and social media phenomenon of the same name, Strange Planet is a hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own.

“What if our world isn’t the only one where existence is absurd?” It’s a fair question, and this new Apple TV+ is brave enough to ask.
Based on viral sensation Nathan W. Pyle‘s best-selling graphic novel, Strange Planet is described as a “hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own. Set in a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples, relatable blue beings explore the absurdity of everyday human traditions.”

As one franchise’s final adventure craters, another thrives as Insidious: The Red Door opened to a healthy $32.6 million knocking Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny off its perch to second place with just $26.5 million, representing a 56% decline.
Let’s start with the good, Insidious: The Red Door flew past expectations (including our own) to achieve the second best opening weekend in the franchise’s history (after insidious: Chapter 2’s opening of $40.2 million). Not just that, but now star Patrick Wilson can claim a number one finish for his directorial debut, something not all directors can do. What’s even more impressive is that this is the fifth film in a horror franchise proving Insidious is immune to the law of diminishing returns. To add even more praise to the film and its box office: the budget was a modest $16 million, meaning that in just its opening...
