Struggling to find a modern designer show replacement
carineddionne24 January 2023
I used to watch HGTV constantly, but since Leanne has moved on I don't. I tried so many shows trying to find that modern spirit, and I have not. She was a rule breaker in the traditional sense. If anyone can recommend..please do.

Both of her design shows were so inspiring to me. It was not more of the same, her take was fresh, modern, exciting and clean.

I would love some design shows that showcase japandi, nordic, danish etc.

I love lime wash, plaster, natural stone, clean and white. Wood tones, microcement.

I know she is on to better things, but there has to be other modern designers?

My 2 cents.

I'm here for The Fords

As a person who loves home renovations I was never impressed by the shows HGTV had to offer until LeeAnn & Steve Ford were brought on. I absolutely love this show, their banter & her style is always completely up my alley. I have gotten so many incredible ideas from this show & cannot wait for more, each and every week! Keeps me coming back for more and I couldn't be more satisfied with a renovation show!

Don't have the words to express what I just watched. First time viewing the show. I'm a regular viewer of HGTV and this by is the worst show I have seen. I don't if awkward can explain the dynamic relationship among the cast?? Felt like the sister was a little off her rocker and all over the place most of the time. Her design ideas if that's what you want to call them were bizarre. I would have fired her day one. Felt sorry for the brother, felt like he was just there dealing with her every whim and manic episode. It felt like it was more about what she wanted and really didn't care about what the client or what the home needed. Nothing is more dangerous than a designer who is self-absorbed. Please don't make any more shows like this. I was so irritated that I had to write a review. Again I really don't know what to say except WTF HGTV???

Watch only if you're bored.

This show is mind numbingly boring. Home reno shows revolve around the stars and I could host a more fun show than these two. Dude seems like he's high about 98% of the time. Ben and Erin have set the standard. These two are a joke. If you need something to make you fall asleep, this should do it.

Terrible & boring

Leanne has terrible taste, Steve tries to stop her. I wouldn't hire her on take any designing or decorating suggestions from her. I won't be continuing to watch this show. It's just another TV show.

Different but Still Disappointing
greg-beaulieu5 March 2021
The Pittsburgh brother/sister duo of Steve and Leanne Ford have pivoted away from their former restoration theme, which seemed to involve painting everything white, to a new premise of renovating family homes for a younger generation of owners, which still seems to involve painting everything white, while doing more ambitious renovations at a much higher budget. Unfortunately the end results are only slightly more impressive.

While they are spending the client budgets on more expensive materials and fixtures, the outcomes somehow seem less than impressive given the budgets. Leanne is just as annoyingly spacey as before, but Steve seems a bit more grounded and doesn't come across as quite so out of it as he did on the previous show. The final rooms still seem thrown together and filled with assorted junk. I just don't see the appeal. It's difficult for me to understand how another series with the pair got to go ahead. It just isn't good.

Even worse than the first year
jeffdstockton10 March 2021
This the the worst of HGTV's programs. This is the show for white economic elitists; the Fords' and their clients reek of the same privilege, assumptions and lack of concern for money, and terrible 'taste'.

Each episode of this new iteration has made me more disgusted, as the weird creepiness of the Fords' dynamic is paraded in the 'banter' and camera-facing narratives. Also, Lee Ann is unable to see and hear beyond her own narrow ideas & palate (if white and black can called 'palate'). The Fords' have no appreciation for the character of homes they come to. Lee Ann first destroys whatever is in place - obliterates it, then she paints everything white with high gloss black accents. In the latest "Paris in Pittsburgh" episode, the Fords tear out beautiful brick walls and VERY high-quality and beautiful floors, and she paints large swaths of interior brick walls & fireplace white - which cannot be reversed. The result of this episode is a less functional house for a family with two small children, and reduces the value of the home. Of course the WASPy young entilted couple gushes in bemusement & befuddlement. They have little individual identity or taste, so they just reflect the irreality (not surreality) of Lee Ann's 'design' with generic platitudes from any typical issue of Architectural Digest.

HGTV needs to terminate this experiment, this creepy contrivance. Lee Ann Ford is the worst on the network, which is tough to do when they're also broadcasting Tamara Day and 'Bargain Mansions'.

Liked the old one better

Hate the new music with vocals. Hate the rap music. Really? Rap music? These guys are so far from rap I can't believe it. I only tolerate the show now because my wife likes it. Lose the music and you might get me back.

Home for relatives
caughron-6038417 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Fords renovate a cottage for California relatives. It is the worst renovation we have ever seen. Which is worse, the coffee stains, the ugly green bathroom, the patched floors, the covered up brick, or the patchy wallpaper? I forgot the dead plants. The really sad part the people can't change it because they are family😬

So very awful
xdeau18 March 2021
I enjoyed restored by the Fords so was looking forward to this. This show didn't even come close to their prior show. There was very little reno/design/decor content in episode 1. Instead, lots of clips of the fords being cute and much too much family interaction, including crafts with kids, interviews with grandparents, interviews with homeowners all very boring. This show looks and sounds identical to Studio McGee's new home show and just about ever other home show on HGTV now. Is the HGTV production crew a one trick pony? Does everything they produce need to be a "down home folksie" formula that is so predictable one feels like they are watching the same programming over and over. Plus Leanne painted in beige!!!! Has she sold out to the latest trend? like what is going on? this is a sad and disappointing production. Restored by the Fords was unique, interesting, quirky and fun. A little success and HGTV ruined it.

I might have hired her a while back but ...
jmariani-5979917 May 2021
This show easily talked me out of it. Designs are always the same (even JoJo's have some personality) and often ruin what could have been great. Besides, Leann is a little too passive aggressive for me. People who refuse to listen to others bug me.

Not too bad

Warning: Spoilers
I watched a couple of episodes and they were good, and than the sister decided to paint a cottage with coffee. That episode made me cringe, the walls looked like someone urinated on it. She did other crazy stuff too, and her brother could have said no but he agreed with everything. This show have potential but the brother has to speak up.
