1star for Laverne Cox performance...just embarassing.

Reddington is so much better without Liz in an episode.

ENJOYABLE.

Not a big fan of torture scenes, and Blacklist has used torture too much. But aside from that, and the fact that this episode felt a little bare and cheaply made, I enjoyed. I LOVED Dembe's major role, and I would love to see more of his major involvement; he's a great actor and he adds A LOT to the show. Red's and Dembe's acting were OUTSTANDING!

Please kill off Elizabeth!!!!
scubafiend9 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I totally disagree with the petulant child reviews about Laverne Cox. She is an excellent actress but apparently beyond the appreciation of immature viewers who can't discern subtlety.

My only complaint is the continuing storyline where these men continue to believe Elizabeth isn't stone cold psycho - she really needs to die- sooner rather than later! Not sure how much more I can take of their wide eyed denial of how far from redeemable she is. Her hypocrisy is intolerable and it is ruining what started as an original and compelling series which has become annoying. I'm only pushing through to see her get killed off.

Confusing nonetheless

Warning: Spoilers
The storyline is improving; A fearsome blacklister - not the best though or anywhere close to that - , some unexpected developments Ruddiger's betrayal, Red's and Dembe's abduction and interrogation as well as a more in-depth view of Townsend's character. The episode also featured as well a badass Red looking for Dembe, causing panic and trying to shoot his way to his bodyguard. Even though there was little storyline progress, it was still a very interesting episode and included some great acting. What I personally find odd is the abscence of Liz. I've come to hate her character, but the writters' choice of just hiding her from the viewers is just lazy. I can put up with her presence for shake of the excellent acting of James Spader, and I certaintly won;t be annoyed if she was killed off. Her just being nowhere to be seen and yet participating in the progress of the story is frustrating. Townsend though, that guy is a formidable adversary with his punching skills...

Getting better

Warning: Spoilers
This show is getting back to a must watch. The absence of the second billed star is definitely an improvement. Just kill Keene and then the show will be great.

Decent Episode
lfinchamwells31 May 2021
Interesting episode and premise. Was surprised to see poor reviews prior to watching, especially when the episode didn't involve Keen. After watching and seeing the discussion between Laverne and Hisham's characters, it's easy to dismiss the 1 star reviews as snowflakes who think discussions about racism are 'woke culture.' The episode is still missing the Blacklist spark of old, but it's markedly improved from some of the earlier episodes of this season.

Only halfway through
m-rugen14 March 2021
But still giving it a 1 based solely on Laverne Cox's performance. Horrible acting. In no way menacing for someone who tortures and murders people. Felt like she was reading cue cards offscreen.

God I miss when this show was good.

Any episode without Liz is a good one
alonabalt8 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Blacklist was a wonderful show but then the weird twist in the plot, the ridiculous Liz character,it started at the 6th season and got worst with the story of her mother , someone ,that a 5 years old child, will not trust and someone that supposed to be a professional profiler buy any crup that she said, in the mean time other person risked his life for her more than once but she believes to the one that never did anything good for her, sorry all around Liz,the way her Colleagues still try to defend her behavior, her childish approach that she deserves everything and still someone try hard to convince us that she is very smart, obviously it doesn't work,on the other hand james spader as Raymond Reddington do an amazing job,so sad you ruined such a wonderful Series.

It doesn't get much better than a complete episode focused on Reddington and Dembe! Bad guys found and the "good guys" win? Ha ha ha...

Another novelty
nemesis-8823 March 2021
NBC keeps experimenting with new types of characters. Remember the gun violence activists who murdered gun manufacturers? This time it's a WOKE torturer! A woman who decries pain treatment in black Americans while torturing... a black American!!!

Talented actress. Great episode because of her. General storyline is bland and transparent. She brought light to the episode. Can't wait to see more of her work!

On the same "longeur d'onde"
cjonesas14 February 2022
Episode 10: A nice thrilling, though a little generic B. L. episode, with suspenseful drama and good acting.

Overall losing steam, but still holding up, thanks to episodes like this one.

P. S. Laverne Cox acting wasn't bad at all as some reviewers say. It's a matter of taste I guess, and maybe, just maybe, whoever is in cross with Megan Boone and hating the character of Liz so much could hate L. Cox too. For them, Liz and Laken are on the same "longeur d'onde" !

Not sure what's really happening here
ravmeltt19 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In my review of the previous episode (S.8 ep9), I was harsh as I did not like it. This one (ep 10) was a bit of improvement, only because it did not follow the ridiculous storyline of ep 9.

Laverne Cox guest starred in this episode, and while it was interesting enough to hold my attention, there were some loopholes which I would state and hereby put spoiler alert.

Dr Laken Perillos is a torture specialist. Her reasoning or rationale for her torture regime is, her nother was treated very badly during some surgery or other, so now she is taking it out on others. And her mother was tortured by white doctors I believe. Now, first of all, if your mother suffered so much, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that you would go in the opposite direction and try to help people in their pain?

Secondly, she stated that white people hurt her mother. Then why would you kidnap Dembe who is black like you and suffer him through that torture? It made no sense to me.

Thirdly, when she eventually was captured by the FBI, she crumbled worse than a crusty pastry. The fear in her eyes, her trembling, gone immediately was this fierce, scary torturer and instead was this weak, frightened person. It was ridiculous.

I don't know who directed this one, but I don't blame Laverne for how she played that; I blame the writer/director.

Something extremely wrong is going on at The Blacklist writers' table and they need to get their act together or they're going to be losing fans. I can't believe James Spader isn't saying something about all this. Get your act together guys.

It's Laverne Cox as Dr. Laken Perillos- in case you were wondering S 8 epi. 10 Blacklist
juliemcmillian3 November 2022
I love the Blacklist been watching since it started years ago. After getting various streaming services I have binged watched every episode starting with season 1 episode 1, and enjoy the new ones that come out still. I have to rate this show 10/10-it keeps your attention, never get's boring, and wouldn't you like to be Raymond Reddington-minus all the killings...lol. This episode was one I watched today. The doctor was with (Hisham Tawfiq)-Dembe and I knew I recognized her from something but couldn't put my finger on it. It was the tv show Orange is the new Black and she played the character of Sophia. I loved her in that also. She is a really good actress. Just thought I would throw that out there for anyone else that saw her guest starring appearance on the show Blacklist.....Dr. Laken Perillos in the show.

What happened to this show?
jon-2264313 March 2021
It used to be one of the best, I mean the first few seasons, now it's like an old 90s series, so predictable and sloppy and the plot is such a mass with so many holes in it... can't think of anything positive, that sad. The script is just so bad to the level I simply don't get how the producers don't see it and are ready to accept this level of work and release it. The only reason it's still exist is because of the fans, people who feel connection to the characters and stay like with family, because other then that it's simply an embarrassing TV show. I still hope it will get better as it's hard to see how it can get any lower.

I miss the old Blacklist

Warning: Spoilers
Another subpar episode.

Pros: No Elizabeth. Megan is not a good actor and it affects the show. In her absence, it has been enjoyable. James Spader - excellent as usual

Negatives: Laverne Cox - HORRIBLE actress. Absolutely horrible. It was distracting. Again with the Hollywood "black versus white" crap. Might be done watching this series

Absolutely horrible acting in this episode. And the storyline is borderline intolerable.....laughable at times while being an absolute mess! I may not watch any future episodes. Which is sad since I've watched it since the beginning.
