No Dumber than Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Etc.
bkkaz8 September 2022
This isn't a bad show. Sometimes it's genuinely funny. All the hate is misplaced because there are tons of shows with white casts that are dumber than this. AND THEY STAY ON FOREVER AND EVER.

The lead character, Phoebe, is cute and smart -- and funny. No, all the jokes don't land, but be honest. If you watch garbage like Friends or How I Met Your Mother or any of that trash starring Charlie Sheen or Tim Allen, 75% of the jokes are stupid and unfunny, too.

So, give "Everything's Trash" a chance. It hasn't quite found it's way yet, which, but then Norah from Queens took a little time to find itself, too. If you're still going into fits, ask yourself if this show starred white actors, would you hold it to the same standard.

Who wrote this mess?

Aa a black woman I tried...Lord knows I tried...but this show is TRASH! The format is like that of the Peacock show Grand Crew - they tried so hard to make an "original" black comedy show...but failed miserably!!!!

The lead character is absolutely obnoxious and the kinda of chick I know would NOT be in my circle...she is trifflin...and not the funny kind, the annoying kind. Don't waste your time.

Everything is Trash

I love supporting black creatives and I Love this show. Every episode takes us down a sarcastic path where we realize that life is flawed. Finding the beauty in the story that each episode tells is what this show is about. I've been a Phoebe fan since 2 Dope Queens and will continue to support her in whatever she does because she's very talented.

What in the Actual **** was this?
kinkeaddeven27 July 2022
I don't even know how to write this review. It was so bad.

I've watched the first three episodes released and between the absolutely horrible, fifth grade English project writing style and the acting...I just can't.

It's almost like witers, creators, and producers think that the black audience doesn't deserve great TV and they should just be satisfied with the crumbs offered to them.

The mere fact that Rotten Tomatoes gave this an 89% proves that no one cares about the quality of TV as long as there is black representation. Equality doesn't just mean representation (who was this show an actual representation of?) - it also means equal in value. Equal in quality.

I'd be so ashamed to put this show out there for my brothers and sisters. Do better for POC. They deserve better than crumbs.

Don't question the show... question the bad reviews
fullfiguredgal11 August 2022
I honestly like this show and look forward to watching new episodes every Thursday. I'm not sure why folks have given it a bad review but a lack of a sense of humor could be to blame. Clearly some people are reading too much into it instead of just taking it for what it is. It has its corny moments but it is humorous (in my opinion) and it makes me feel a bit joyous when I watch it. The world is trash and with so much going on it's nice to have a show like this to look forward to. It allows me to escape just for a little bit. Watch it for yourself and see how you like it. I really hope it's renewed for a second season.

Flamingly awful.
slimgig21 July 2022
Unfunny, hammy, corny and cliche. The character doesn't work. None of it does. It's trying to be other shows but failing because it's too awkwardly full of itself.

The name is going to be used against the show.

Realistic and Comfortingly Honest

The first two episodes were hillarious. Can't wait for them to release more. If you like short, laugh out loud episodes, this one is perfect. I cried, laughed and reflected by the end. Love shows that bring podcasts to life.

Give it a listen, promise!!

Everything's Trash, including this show
boah-217 July 2022
I wanted to like this but I cannot.

The show has bad acting, ridiculous writing (that at its core tries to paint white folks as weirdos and odd, which could be funny it it was written well), and forced situations. I've seen the brother in other shows and he's been great. Here they have him doing some over the top Jim Carey acting.

The plot seems to be that every week this narcissist does something self centered and ignores how it will effect others and then when it does she gaslights the hell out of them and uses some weird justification as to why they shouldn't be mad at her. It also features reactions from characters that is in no way believable.

Honestly I will keep watching it to laugh at all the things the writers and actors don't want you laughing at. It's that bad that it becomes a Plan 9 from Outer Space of sitcoms. If you don't have time to waste then avoid it. If you like train wrecks this is the show for you.

Curious there were a bunch of bad reviews for this show and they keep getting taken down. Why?

Imagine thinking this was a good idea
Braidlance22 July 2022
Fake harpy laughing really loud doesn't mean what you said was actually funny.

Literally nothing gets said the entire time. Just word salad unfunny nonsense and then loud laughing to let everyone know "this is funny".

I have to admit. I was laughing. Just for totally different reasons.

The show is funny, I don't understand the hate
vegeta-oh18 August 2022
If you like Phoebe, you're going to like this show.

The character she plays is annoying but well written, and it gets a little better with each episode.

Normally I'd rate this show a 6 or 7, but I'm rating it 8 to counter all the 1s I'm seeing here. It's not the best sitcom I've seen, but it's fun and competent. It doesn't deserve to be rated in the 4s.

It's worth the watch

I have no clue why I like this show. It has a real feel to it. At the end of the episode, I feel like I know these characters. The subject material is relevant and they way it is presented is how a segment of the current culture operates. The success of this show will depend heavily on the ability of the writers to create an interesting and dynamic perspective. I do say watch it. Those who can relate will enjoy it and if you can't relate maybe you learn another perspective.

Hilarious and honest
katflaherty18 August 2022
Phoebe Robinson's comedy style is offbeat and honest. The way her character hilariously handles all the hot messes she finds herself in is so real yet fresh. If you can't laugh at life, then why bother. Also, the podcast segments are just like listening to Black Frasier (which needs to come back tbh). Watching the other characters develop over the course of the series is equally entertaining. I can't wait for more of Phoebe Robinson in my life.

Everything is trash including this show
marissa_turner25 August 2022
At least they got the title right. You can clearly tell that lead actress this is not her persona. Jokes are terrible.

I don't fully get the purpose of this show.

Pure hot fun
leoprinceaugust8 September 2022
I find it amusing and fresh, it's eating on the old shows, but the way it's done is silly and galore; Female characters are stereotypically funny and males do not lack individuality, however unattractive they are. The twists be twisting and the end of the season really gives me hope the writers may work the script through to make a really yummy second. It's exaggerated and over the top; if you do love OVAH-ish ones, you're going to Ga Ga. I'm giving the show my tens!

P. S. Please don't expect to learn astrophysics directly from the mouths of the cast, because this is truly about being messy and playing the game of life for the gods of the future.

This show is about a mentally ill person
justinurraopg7 August 2022
So is this about a woman who CLEARLY has BPD and narcissism in a really bad way, this could have played out well if it was written better, the writing and acting is terrible.

Everything's trash on Hamilton's head
mr1121217 August 2022
Those uneven locs are unbearable. This show is about black people that are rarely around black people. Every episode has multiple trash outfits and hairstyles and conversations. The lil girl is funny tho.

Hilarious, heartfelt, and a little goofy!
kerrycyge21 September 2022
This show is great. I don't get the low rating at all. The characters are likeable and Phoebe is hilarious. I swear people watch things for 5 minutes and then rate them. Solid 8/10!

This is a classic situational coMedy where the lead gets herself into something in each episode. I literally laughed out loud multiple times.

Some characters are a little annoying at times but they are meant to me. The writing is solid and I hope this show doesn't get cancelled because it's really enjoyable!!!

Give this show a try. I'm already halfway through the episode 4 and it's the best one yet! Ea h episode is better than the last!

Just Watch It!
parismom-964746 August 2022
This is one of the most funny, smart, authentic shows I have seen this year. The awesome friendship between Phoebe & Malika, is worth a tuning in.

I also like the budding romance of Phoebe & Hamilton. This show is excellent!

Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 Spin-off
alisoncomedian10 August 2022
This show has an audience and I hope it is not too late for them to discover this gem. If Apartment 23 broke your heart when you discovered it only has 2 seasons and went off the air years ago, I have a gift for you. Phoebe Robinson is Krysten Ritter's Chloe, if Chloe had a closer relationship with her family instead of creating a found one. Like 23, the editing feels like someone worked in animation involved in the production- visually dynamic poppy layers of fast-paced comedy.

It is the first time I have seen an accurate portrayal of a woman with a large romantic appetite on TV that has just desensitized her family to her antics and can just exist honestly in judgement free-ish purgatory. Usually the archetype for this character is estranged from her family but the closeness of the family is a more interesting place for comedy to exist and is more honest to the times we are living in.

If this show gets a second season, it would be fun to have Chloe exist in this universe and be a guest on her podcast as a warning of the ghost of Christmas future since they are both owned by ABC. A crossover episode would be amazing.

Empowered Black Women
jaszmyne881 September 2022
I LOVE this show. Why? Because it's nice to see Black women take control of their sexuality and not be called everything but a child of god. We can have hook ups, we can have messy relationship dynamics, we can have the space to learn and grow freely. This is a right white women have had for quite some time. It's our turn now. To experience our bodies, sexuality, and enjoy that. I really hopes this speaks to a young woman who might feel shamed in the company if a few men. I hope it helps women still feel value in their womanhood no matter what. I hope this helps women feel like it's okay to learn even if that means a few mess ups and failures along the way.

A good time
martin-parkeer31 December 2022
It's hillarious, but it's also a show that has a certain implied audience, and it might not be for the males +45, allthough i'm sure there are exceptions. But as any sitcom, it has to make you laugh. If it doesn't during the first episode, it's not gonna be worth your time. The show doesn't really go into new territory, but it does, in a hilarious and unceremonious way, adress themes such as gentrification, privilege, beeing single in your thirties, and other themes that's usually handled in a more serious manner. Like good stand-up-comedy, it allows the viewer to reflect on serious stuff while also beeing hillarious.
