It is already well-known in media circles that ‘Black Panther’, a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character. Is set for release on February 16, 2018. Avid Marvel fans and movie enthusiasts are also aware of this and are awaiting the release date with anticipation. What fewer people know is that this is not the only ‘Black Panther’ movie planned for release next year. Cort Lane, Marvel’s Vice President of animation, made a big announcement at the New York Comic Con. He wanted to let everyone know that Lego is currently working on an animated version of this character

Over the weekend, during New York Comic Con, it was announced by Marvel's VP of Animation Cort Lane that Marvel Animation would be teaming up with the Lego Group to make an animated Black Panther Lego Movie. The movie will be called Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda.
There are no other details than that, but I seriously doubt it will be up to the level of what Warner Bros. is doing with their Lego movies. This will probably just end up being a silly direct-to-Blu-ray/digital release.
Marvel Animation really isn't doing anything impressive with their projects these days, which is why I'm not expecting much. But, it might be something that will be fun for the kids to watch and it will certainly help them learn more about the character and who he is.
Anyone looking forward to seeing a Black Panther Lego movie?

It’s the end of an Avengers Era as we know it… And in the team’s final days, a change has come to the Marvel Universe in the form of an all-new Weekly epic – which starts this January!
Debuting in the pages of Avengers #675, the Avengers-verse changing Avengers: No Surrender storyline is a weekly saga that unites the casts and creative teams of three titles into an epic tale of heroic action, jaw-dropping cliffhangers, and drastic adventures! The Avengers, Uncanny Avengers and U.S. Avengers come together in a powerhouse of an event that will be unleashed in a story as, and I quote: “spectacular and epic as the Marvel Universe itself”. Hmmm, where have we heard That before?
Featuring one of Marvel’s biggest collaborations to date, each issue will be co-written by superstar writers Mark Waid, Al Ewing and Jim Zub with art by Pepe Larraz for the first month,...

As I was watching the 2017 Emmy Awards last Sunday, I thought about how much the television industry has changed. It’s a cliché to say that this is the Golden Age of Television, but, in many ways, that is true.
However, that is not what I want to talk about.
Women and people of color won an unusually high percentage of awards. I mean, women always win in the “Best Actress” categories, but there were women (and people of color) (and queer people) winning in the writing and directing categories as well. This didn’t go unnoticed. To quote from Master of None writer Lena Waithe’s acceptance speech “And last, but certainly not least, my L.G.B.T.Q.I.A. family. I see each and every one of you. The things that make us different, those are our superpowers. Every day, when you walk out the door...

Now that we’re past the halfway point when it comes to Marvel’s currently unfolding major crossover event, Secret Empire, we fully expect Nick Spencer and company to kick things into high gear. And, for your own safety, it’s recommended that you not take a drink any time the word “secret” is used by either us or the publisher from here on out.
As you know by now, the limited series was granted an extension by one issue not long ago, forcing many readers to question how this book is being paced. Well, according to Marvel themselves, Steve Rogers’ secret – whatever it may be – will be revealed within the pages of Secret Empire #9 later this summer. Needless to say, that gives the creative team plenty of time to explore the fallout in the finale.
In fact, let’s read their teaser before proceeding any further:

Marvel has just announced two new roles in the Luke Cage Netflix Series. Moreover, they are they got a couple of solid actors to play them.
Mustafa Shakir (The Night Of) has been cast as Bushmaster aka John McIver. He is described as "a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance." The other role Nighthawk, will be played by Gabrielle Dennis (Rosewood).
Tilda Johnson a.k.a. Nighthawk a.k.a. Nightshade is described as "a brilliant holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to say far from trouble, it seems to always find her."
This is very interesting, especially considering Marvel's Black Panther movie also has Tilda Johnson in it and they have a different actress playing her. That actress is Nabiyah Be. Two different actresses playing the same role in the same universe? This, in a way,...

It’s not just Marvel and DC characters who we can look forward to seeing in theatres over the next few years, as independent comics company Valiant Entertainment is also working to get in on the lucrative superhero cinematic universe game. In fact, they’ve just taken another giant step forward today, as Shadowman, one of several projects of theirs that are currently in development, has now found its director.
The Hollywood Reporter is telling us that Reginald Hudlin, who’s set to make his directorial debut on upcoming thriller Marshall, has signed on to helm the movie. The filmmaker will be most well known to comic book fans for his four year stint writing Black Panther for Marvel from 2005 to 2008. Valiant continues their march to the big screen with comics veteran Reginald Hudlin directing Shadowman.
Reginald Hudlin, a veteran of just about everything entertainment related, has been brought in to direct Valiant Comics' Shadowman movie according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter.
Hudlin joins Salem showrunner Adam Simon, brought in to rework a script from J Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, among other things), on the project. Valiant is working with Sony Pictures to bring their comics universe to the big screen, with Harbinger and Bloodshot movies already on the slate.
Shadowman is the gateway to Valiant's magical side: Jack Boniface is a New Orleans musician who gains the power to influence the Deadside, a supernatural realm just askance of normal reality. He's currently starring in Valiant Comics' annual summer crossover, Rapture, alongside Ninjak, the Geomancer (the living spirit and guardian of Earth), and Punk Mambo.

Best Drama Series
Nominees:
“The Crown” (Netflix)
“Game of Thrones” (HBO)
“Stranger Things” (Netflix)
“This Is Us” (NBC)
“Westworld” (HBO)
Will Win: “The Crown”
Could Win: “This Is Us”
Should Win: “The Crown”
A new champion will be crowned, and we’re betting on Netflix royalty. After the 2016 winner, “Mr. Robot,” missed the cut in 2017, the doors were thrown open, as four freshman dramas stepped in for their shot at Best Drama Series. The two HBO entries may split the vote, considering they appeal to an identical demographic, and “This Is Us” feels a bit too sentimental for the dark taste of the HFPA. Though “Stranger Things” has the buzz, Netflix made “The Crown” to bring home the gold. So odds are the network’s weight is behind its prestige period piece.

For years now I have been on the internet talking comic books and sparing minds with some of the most creative and intelligent people out here, you know very knowledgeable folks whose wisdom stretch way beyond pop culture such as music, film, and movies etc. When we talk Black Panther there are two names that always seem to pop up, Christopher Priest and Reginald Hudlin. Neither one of these guys created The Black Panther or it's fabulous characters such as T'Challa or Ulyesses Klaw, nor are they the first writers of the Bp, hell I'm not even saying they are the best writers of the Bp especially the way the new series is taking off, but today my focus is between these two extraordinary storytellers who have a completely different background but share the same passion for the same character. ...

The following essay was written by a participant in the 2016 New York Film Festival Critics Academy, a workshop for aspiring critics co-produced by IndieWire, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Film Comment.
We exist in a world of cycles. Perhaps nowhere else in society are these cycles as prevalent as they are in the entertainment industry. When I grew up in the ‘90s, there were a plethora of black faces on the big and small screens. From Will Smith’s “Fresh Prince” to “Living Single” (aka the original “Sex and the City”), I could turn to any network television station to see myself, or the people closest to me, represented in some way on screen.
Though diverse programming was rich and plentiful in that first decade of my life, the second decade ushered in a near complete erasure of brown faces. While megastars like Will Smith and Denzel Washington...

Captain America: Civil War trailer 2 is here! Check out all the Easter Eggs, References, Things Missed (not six but ten!), as well as a closer look at Spider-Man and which Avengers he’ll side with! Plus, there’s details on what turns Black Panther against Bucky, how many people were killed in The Avengers in 2012, Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014 and Avengers Age Of Ultron in 2015. Not the mention the Billions of dollars in property damage caused. There’s also a mystery Marvel character lurking in the background of a few shots and confirmation that Hydra will be heavily involved in the plot with the inclusion of Crossbones and a logo. We also get Ant-Man (also rumoured to become Giant Man)leaping off a Hawkeye arrow and confirmation that Scarlett Witch is powerful enough to subdue The Vision - which makes sense considering both of their powers stem from the same Infinity Stone.

It has been less than 24 hours since Marvel and Disney blew our minds with the second jaw-dropping Captain America: Civil War theatrical trailer, which has since garnered over 16 million views on Youtube. And considering there were so many great moments packed in the 2-and-a-half-minute teaser― from Ant-Man riding one of Hawkeye’s arrows and bullets bouncing off of Black Panther’s vibranium-equipped suit, to the long-awaited first look at the third cinematic Spider-Man― we’ve compiled all of those great moments in Gif format. Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team.

Have you got your breath back yet?
With a little under two months to go until the release of Captain America: Civil War, Marvel have gone big with their second full trailer (widely assumed to be the last, though that’s unlikely), unveiling Spider-Man, Crossbones, an unmasked Black Panther and all manner of story details. If you look hard enough, there’s a very definite shape forming of exactly how this plot is going to play out. And impressively, there’s still a lot more that will remain undiscovered until the film’s release.
If you’re feeling some pangs of familiarity, it might be because there’s another tent-pole superhero movie coming that deals with the aftermath of intervention and collateral damage, a shady villain pulling strings behind the scenes and dead best buds. You might have heard of it.
However you want to spin the Marvel v DC battle,...

I'm sure by now you've seen the new Captain America: Civil War trailer. I've watched it about 15 times already and went through it frame-by-frame because...well, why wouldn't I!? This trailer was completely badass! This movie is going to be freakin' incredible, and on top of that we finally got our first look at Spider-Man! A lot of fans don't seem very happy with the new look for Spider-Man, but as a long-time fan of the character, who grew up reading the comics, I freakin' love it! They gave him an awesome classic retro look that we have never seen before in the films, and he even has eye movement, which is so damn cool.
You can go through the collection of screenshots below. I included some commentary, too. Everything else is pretty easy to follow. Enjoy, and let us know what you think about some of the questions I raise!

Welcome to Outrage Watch, HitFix's semi-regular rundown of entertainment-related kerfuffles. Not feeling anxious enough already? Get your fix of righteous indignation below, and stay posted for outrage updates throughout the week. Breaking news: "family values" types hated, hated, hated Beyonce's portion of this year's Coldplay-"headlined" Super Bowl halftime show. Luckily, many of them emailed the FCC with their complaints -- and thanks to an Open Records Request by Sb Nation we now have full access to their delicious rants. The majority of complaints take issue with the so-called "racist" undertones of the Black Panther and Black Lives Matter-referencing performance, which many claim promoted violence against police officers and white people at a "family-friendly" annual event where large men inflict traumatic brain injuries on each other for our entertainment. This very measured, cool-headed response from one concerned citizen in Fenton, Michigan is typical: "After that half time show i would...

Say hello to your new friendly neighbourhood Spider-man in the second trailer for 'Captain America: Civil War.' Wow what a costume, he looks like he jumped out of the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko comic.

Finally! This is what the fans have been waiting to see.
Disney and Marvel have just released a brand new trailer for Captain America: Civil War, and the most important bit of new footage involves the official unveiling of Spider-Man. Check out the trailer at the bottom of the page, then hop back up here for some quick analysis.
There are so many cool shots in this trailer, starting with the one of Sebastian Stan's Bucky/Winter Soldier in that containment facility and finishing with the Spider-Man reveal at the very end. General Ross shows the new Avengers lineup footage of all the destruction they've been a part of in recent years, which is hard for them to watch — especially Scarlet Witch, who experienced the effects of that level of destruction firsthand.

“I love when he gets to have conflict, there’s a lot of struggle for him to try and keep whatever sense of family he has,” Chris Evans told USA Today about returning in the title role in "Captain America: Civil War." If your movie is crammed to the brim with popular franchise characters, it’s going to be a long one – and in that respect, it is unsurprising to hear that cinema listings have begun to appear, suggesting that the run-time of Captain America: Civil War will be 2 hours and 26 minutes. This information has not been officially confirmed, but if these listings are accurate, this run-time would make Captain America: Civil War a Marvel record-breaker, before it even gets near a cinema screen.
Stacked against its franchise predecessors, a 146 minute-long Captain America: Civil War would be the longest instalment of Steve Rogers’ story yet, with Captain America: The First Avenger clocking in at 2 hours and 4 minutes, while Captain America: The Winter Soldier was delivered at 2 hours and 16 minutes. "Take Shelter" and "Mud" filmmaker Jeff Nichols, out doing promotional rounds for his new film "Midnight Special," has spoken about that time when he was in serious consideration to helm the standalone "Aquaman" movie at Warner Bros. Pictures.
"Saw" and "Furious 7" director James Wan ultimately landed the gig, but back in late 2014 the hack of Sony Pictures led to the news that Nichols was in talks to direct the Jason Momoa-led DC Comics adaptation. Speaking with ScreenCrush this week, Nichols revealed why he ultimately didn't want to be a part of the DC Extended Universe:
"But, you know [sighs] the trick with 'Midnight Special' is even though it was made at the studio [Warner Bros.], they gave me a lot of control over the process. And I don't just mean control over final cut, but it felt like we were making one of my movies. I had my team.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to be the launching point for the future of the entire DC Cinematic universe. The Los Angeles Times recently had the opportunity to attend Disney shareholder meeting where they showed off their upcoming movies. Included in the clips shown was a sequence we haven't yet seen from Marvel's Captain America: Civil War. The scene offers a hint as to how the plot plays out, and how the characters interact with one another as tensions mount.
Beware, this is all a *Spoiler* for the film. Only read on if you don't mind knowing how things unfold:
The clip started off with a car chase featuring a motorcycle and a black Audi SUV. The chase involved Captain America, Black Panther, Bucky Barnes, and Falcon. They pursued each other through a tunnel, which became engulfed in explosions generated by the skirmish.Eventually, the characters emerged from the tunnel, only to be met by War Machine. It appeared as though he was on the scene to detain Captain America.
