This is not exactly a table read. It is a production that probably only makes sense during the pandemic, with everybody doing their parts from zoom. They basically reenact Ed Wood's Plan Nine From Outer Space, with some actors playing multiple parts, cutting the dull stretches that make Plan Nine hard to sit through in its entirety, with Laraine Newman doing additional narration that is particularly humorous if you have seen the actual Plan Nine.
This is why TCM is such a jewel. They are showing this virtual presentation as part of their TCM Virtual Classic Film Festival, which they have had to improvise a second time because the pandemic makes the traditional in person event impossible. TCM takes chances, which I really can't say about any other entertainment venue at present.
