- When Kelsey's magazine approves her pitch about a sceptic's take on love and horoscopes, she is teamed up with Astrology guru, Carter. Clearly from opposite worlds, they put their competing perspectives aside to work the story around a local meteor shower festival. Through both fact and fate, they soon unearth that love really can be written in the stars.
- It's one month until Kelsey Graham's self-imposed ten year deadline to become a full-fledged writer, not achieving that goal which will make her pursue a totally different although not nearly as fulfilling a career of an undecided nature. A copy editor with San Diego-based The Vine, the largest online lifestyle magazine in the country, she plans to approach the magazine's editor-in-chief, Max Chisholm, to pitch ideas for her own stories. The response to her pitches is negative, Max believing her ideas both retreads of what has been done before and/or not personal to her, that is until she makes an off the cuff comment about a discussion she and her best friend, fellow copy editor Molly, had about astrology, something in which Kelsey admits that she does not believe. The pitch that Max approves, with the article to be written in a week's time, is a profile of astrology guru, press-shy Carter Bowman, and his business, an astrology/dating app called Star Stories, from a skeptic's point of view. With Molly in tow for support, Kelsey heads upstate to the town of Jupiter where Molly discovered Carter will be spending the week at the town's annual festival to watch the meteor shower. Kelsey is surprised to learn that Carter is the man she has recently encountered several times back in San Diego. Despite the coy sexual tension evident in those previous encounters, Carter is initially reluctant to the interview in being burned by someone in the media he trusted before, until he both begins to trust her to take that chance a second time and that she agrees to some preset conditions. Kelsey is already pulled in two directions in vowing to Carter that the article will fair and balanced, while knowing Max is pushing for something more of an expose debunking Carter and all on which his business is based. The situation gets even more complicated when it looks like Kelsey and Carter are mutually falling for each other, she not abiding to Max's wishes in favor of a fluff piece which could mean her job and her writing career before it even gets off the ground.—Huggo
