You guys, we did it. It’s the end of the year, and if you’re reading this right now, it means you still have an appetite for television. And not just any television, mind you, but the best new TV shows on the market. After the year we’ve had, that’s an accomplishment. It means you made it through “Ahsoka” and “Secret Invasion,” “Citadel” and “The Continental.” Heck, you survived “The Idol,” — aka the greatest threat to HBO’s sterling reputation since David Zaslav — and you still want to watch Hollywood’s attempts at serialized TV. I salute you.
Try not to read too much into the fact that none of the aforementioned titles were Netflix originals. The de facto winner of the streaming wars still had a pretty rough year when it came to creating quality TV — or, to use the company’s preferred analogy, its “gourmet cheeseburgers” were pretty damn dry.

Even though Rockstar Games had to release the first trailer for GTA 6 earlier than planned due to an incredibly unfortunate leak, it is finally here. With it comes more confirmed details about the upcoming game than we’ve received in the last 10+ years. However, few of those details are more important than the reveal that GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida: the GTA universe stand-in for the state of Florida.
That means that GTA 6 will feature an updated version of Vice City as so many rumors about the game have previously suggested. However, the distinction between Vice City and Leonida is already proving to be significant. Not only will GTA 6‘s in-game world be so much bigger than one city, but the game’s entire spirit and style seem to be derived from the Florida-like nature of Leonida rather than the Miami-like culture of Vice City. Based on what I’ve seen,...

Beef, starring Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, drew 1.59 billion minutes of viewing time for the week, up 65 percent from its premiere week. The series also sparked controversy when past remarks about sexual assault by co-star David Choe resurfaced. Choe later said he made up the story, and Wong and Yeun said in an April 21 statement that they “do not condone this story in any way” while adding they have seen Choe seek support “to better himself and learn from his mistakes.”
The Night Agent (1.17 billion minutes) slipped to second but recorded its fourth straight week over the billion-minute mark. Love Is Blind (1.09 billion) and Disney+’s The Mandalorian (1.03 billion) also topped a billion minutes.
Netflix’s Florida Man was the highest charting premiere for the week with 649 million minutes of watch time.

“Succession” climbed up the ranks in this week’s Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10. During the April 10-16 viewing window, the series saw a 50% viewership spike due in part to that shocking death that took place in Episode 3. This week marked the first full week of availability for the episode on HBO Max, scoring 638 million viewing minutes and landing in No. 6 on the Acquired Programs chart.
According to Nielsen, “Succession” continued to draw on a broad group of demographics from 18-64 all fairly equally represented.
Taking the top place on Nielsen’s Overall chart is “Beef,” which also saw a 62% jump from its opening week to 1.6 billion viewing minutes. The dark comedy ended “The Night Agent’s” No. 1 run. Though, the political thriller still managed to pull in a strong 1.2 billion viewing minutes in its third week of availability.

In a sign of ongoing interest to experiment with both release and format models, Netflix’s decision to bring Uhtred, played by Alexander Dreymon, and team back for a feature-length film has delivered another hit for the streamer with more than one million homes tuning into the premiere, driving the film to the No. 2 spot on the streaming charts, according to the latest Wrap Report for the week of April 12-18.
The report tracks the most-watched programs across linear TV and streaming, according to viewership trends collected from Samba TV’s panel of more than 3 million households drawn from over 25 million connected TVs, balanced to the U.S. Census.

Well these are a lot of fun, and they popped up online mere minutes after this column was published last week. Better late than never. Florida Man appears to be a kind of Midnight Run caper, set in the craziness of the Sunshine State. Netflix's in-house graphic-design team have whipped up this series of hand-drawn posters in the style of 20th-century pulp-novel series. Not all of them are winners (See "Corn") but there is a kind of assembly-line, lowest-common-denominator aspect of these designs (with a side of naughtiness) that just hits the of nostalgic sweet spot. To these eyes, at least -- simpler days,...

Netflix Top 10: ‘Beef’ Climbs to No. 2 on English-Language TV List With Over 70 Million Hours Viewed
During the April 10-16 viewing window, Netflix’s latest dark dramedy “Beef” climbed in the rankings to land the No. 2 spot with 70.38 million hours viewed — that’s more than double the prior week’s figure. The show also reached the Top 10 in 87 countries.
Starring Ali Wong and Stephen Yeun, the series follows Danny (Yeun), a contractor with a chip on his shoulder, and Amy (Wong), an unfulfilled entrepreneur — two people whose lives become inseparable after a seemingly random road rage incident. Young Mazino, Joseph Lee, Maria Bello and Ashley Park also star.
The jump comes at a time of controversy for the series as one of its stars, David Choe, has come under fire online for his appeared attempt to scrub the internet of resurfaced footage from 2014 where he details his own “rapey behavior” toward a massage therapist.

The Night Agent is still sneaking its way up Netflix‘s list of Most Popular TV.
The series racked up another 90.04M hours viewed for the week of April 10 to April 16, reigning over the week’s English-language series and soaring to No. 6 on the all-time list. With 605M hours viewed since release, The Night Agent took the place of Stranger Things 3, bumping it down the list along with Lucifer Season 5 and Season 1 of The Witcher.
There is still a few days left before the series’ 28-day measurement window ends, meaning it could easily climb into the Top 5. The No. 5 spot is currently held by Season 1 of Bridgerton with 625M hours viewed.
Second place on this week’s Top 10 went to another thriller: Beef. Word of mouth has certainly helped the series starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong more than double its audience from the previous week with 70.38M hours viewed.

Netflix’s live Love Is Blind reunion special was supposed to be a massive hit for the streaming service…if only it wasn’t actually blind for its fans. Unfortunately for those looking to see Tiffany and Brett, Zack and Bliss, and more, the special ran into some technical difficulties, with viewers being met with the dreaded “We’re having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title.” This forced Netflix to issue an apology.
Shortly after the Love Is Blind reunion was set to stream live on Sunday night, Netflix took to Twitter with the following: “To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up their Sunday afternoon…we are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion did not turn out as we had planned. We’re filming it now and we’ll have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible.

There are plenty of stories about criminals, their paths to salvation, and being mired in a cycle of poor decisions. “Florida Man” recounts the same narrative in a more humorous and pulpy tone. With excellent performances and an intricate plotline, the series pulls off the feat of providing an entertaining show to a specific sort of audience that is always craving crime thrillers. However, too many subplots, turns, and twists in “Florida Man” final episode feel unnecessary and seem to have been inserted simply to extend the story rather than bring it to a satisfying conclusion. From the very start of the series, the several subplots didn’t bore us, but at the ending, it felt predictable and didn’t really surprise us. However, let’s explore the ending to know better where the story of “Florida Man ” actually headed.

However, Mike was in a lot of trouble in Florida, as everyone from Moss Yankov’s guy to Kaitlin Fox, the news reporter, was looking for him. Moss dispatched Dutch to find Mike, but after capturing him, Dutch failed to carry out his task. Instead, on Sonny’s orders, his most loyal friend, Ray-Ray, arrived in town to murder Dutch. Previously, in “Florida Man” episode 3, it was revealed that Mike had successfully located the lake and the Colonial where the truck had sunk. Unfortunately, Delly had already informed Sonny about the gold coins; therefore, Mike was forced to bring his father and his buddies along with him to the truck rescue operation. Mike and his crew created a distraction with Delly’s help and dove into the lake to retrieve the truck. However, the crane driver they hired wanted gold in lieu of payment, so Sonny’s friend Buzz had to shoot him to death. Mike and Sonny had to exit the water without the truck because Buzz was unable to hold the chain necessary to bring it out of the water.

Florida Man is a Netflix series created and directed by Donald Todd and starring Édgar Ramírez and Abadía Lee, is a drama in the world of mobsters full of entanglements.
An “American-style” thriller that leaves us the best and the least good of the entertainment industry: the system knows how to create a great production without risking the slightest.
Without being salient, it has all the elements of an 80’s thriller, those that didn’t go down in history and didn’t pretend to, but that gave us so many good moments.
About the Series
A film that does not want to stand out and that, full of desires to achieve in the cinematographic aspect, is born without the taste needed to be outstanding, but as a perfect television product in which good professionals get, without too much effort, “just another day at the office”.

That task kicks off a set of comedic turns in Florida Man, a seven-episode series peppered with mighty shady characters. Ah, April. The weather is slowly shifting from unseasonably cold to unseasonably warm. Baseball is underway. The end of the school year is in sight. Yes, spring is in the air, which means it’s time to stay inside and enjoy way, way, way too much TV. You have no choice. Not really. There’s an absolute onslaught of television releases this month, which can only mean one thing: Emmy season is here. The TV Academy still uses the crazy outdated network calendar — this season’s eligibility window runs from June 2022 through May 2023 — so networks and streamers have until May 31 to put out their best new shows for all to see. For Netflix, it’s still a little early to debut its top Emmy darlings.
But April is still an awards game. “Beef” hopes to get a head-start with voters by premiering first at SXSW before an early-April wide release on Netflix.
