At the end of the episode, when Nandor announces, "Ladies and gentlemen... we got him," it is a direct re-quote/spoof on U.S. diplomat Paul Bremer (at the time the United States Administrator in Iraq) announcing Saddam Hussein's capture at a Baghdad press conference.
The gargoyles are animated at a low frame rate, simulating the stop-motion technique that was prevalent before CGI. The stop-motion possessed gargoyles may be a nod to Ghostbusters (1984).
Colin Robinson says the line "That's what she said," stating he just learned it. The quote is from "The Office", said multiple time by Michael Scott (Steve Carell's character), becoming a true catchphrase of the series. Mark Proksch (who plays Colin Robinson) also starred in "The Office" as minor character Nate.
