Mad party
nightroses29 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It started off promising. Molly the apex predator was really scary with her expressions and red clothes, that you know is a killer from the very start. She was convincing and so charming to everyone that she pulled wool over their eyes. Then it went downhill, and the film didn't stick to the sensible and went for the nonsensical. She had this clever magical ability to appear anywhere, follows her prey like a vampire, without being caught. Then the murdered people left in her trail never seemed to alert authorities or appear on the news. The fact the "heroine" mother and business woman Denise wasn't in the least suspicious of Molly's background, but sacked her employee for trying to warn her about Molly. And Molly was able to do all this work before any paperwork appeared, a very shoddy office or script writing. There are too many mistakes and unrealistic things going on. The final scene was just comical. It was like a burst balloon!!!

Another gullible LMN woman who trusts too much
hoops-5343620 May 2022
Denise is someone who throws all of her trust in a woman she has known for, what, a week? She trusts this Molly more than she trusts her sister-in-law, her husband, a trusted employee. IMHO, she gets what she deserves. We like our LMN movies with at least a touch of reality. An extra star or two for Nicolette Langley.

A terrible headache!

Warning: Spoilers
These movies are a complete headache, hell a migraine! Where do I even start?? All I want to know is that did she even rehire ole boy after falsely firing him? If so, I hope he said F you and that she ought to be lucky he didn't sue her for false allegations leading to termination. Also, I can't stress how aggravating it is knowing that whenever you disarm the bad guy, you either watch them or you make sure that they are out cold before turning your backs on them .. so stupid!!! Don't even waste your time!

Disappointing, unless you like stupid.

Warning: Spoilers
Party From Hell is so impressive. You'll be so impressed with the snappy dialogue and superb acting and brilliant plot. Well, maybe not. In fact, not at all. It started out slow but that turned out to be the best part. Was this a first draft? This was kind of like a car accident. And speaking of car accidents, be sure to pay attention to the idiotic fender bender scene. "Tee hee, I was texting too...hardy harr harr". Although it is always fun to see Eric Roberts, it's a shame he had only two scenes. Peanut allergy?....how many times does that have to be written into a movie script? A bit hackneyed by now I'd say. What was the point of whole Rutledge thing? It was totally unnecessary to the plot. At the unveiling, the way the people stood around gasping at the dead woman, that was kind of stiff. Haha. Molly's soliloquy at the end was stupid. The knife scene was really stupid. Parts were even out of focus. Maybe it was better that way. "Molly's gone, it's ok.." what a stupid line.

Did someone actually give this script a green light?

typical lifetime script

Warning: Spoilers
The usual formula. Psycho is on a killing spree, and there are so many of them I lost count. And the protagonist is totally oblivious to everything and is quick to judge those closest to him. I.e. Accusing her husband of cheating. Blaming her sister-in-law for things that have gone wrong and being totally responsible for the poor woman's death, because after all it was Denise herself who insisted on hiring psycho party planner. And at the end as usual the psycho who's been stabbed in the gut, magically gets up and disappears as the cops enter the room, and in the final scene there she is interviewing her next and final victim. If you suffer from bouts of rage or high blood pressure I suggest not watching thiis, because there are plenty of scenes where you want to just throw an object at your LCD screen!

Movie from Hell
pumping_iron-121 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First, I don't understand why Molly (Jackie Moore) was killing her clients. She was given full control of the party. Also, why did she choose the people she chose to kill. It didn't make sense.

Secondly, for an intelligent woman, Denise (April Martucci) is as dumb as a box of rocks in life events. She hires a party planner who sabotages the food and almost kills the billionaire (Eric Roberts) who is funding one of her projects. The party planner blames Denise's sister-in-law Ashley (Veronika Issa). Denise accepts the word of the party planner she's known for maybe a week over her sister-in-law's and does not even attempt to investigate what happened. She also finds lipstick on her husband's (Matthew Pohlkamp) collar, assumes he's cheating on her during his out of town business meetings, kicks him out of the house and refuses to even discuss the incident with him. Another time, she finds a company credit card in a trusted employee's (DeShaude Barner) bag. She looks at the company's finances and finds thousands of dollars charged on the card the night before. She refuses to hear any explanation from the employee, does no research, and just fires him. Lastly, Denise is almost as psychotic as Molly. The movie ends like many of these movies end. These kind of endings are so annoying.

A very generic thriller...
paul_haakonsen27 September 2022
Initially when I sat down to watch this 2021 thriller titled "Party from Hell", from writer John Burd and director Jared Cohn, I must admit that I wasn't really harboring much of any expectations. Sure, I hadn't heard about the movie prior to watching it, but there was just something that felt generic about the movie's synopsis.

However, as this was a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and give "Party from Hell" a fair chance.

While the movie was sort of watchable enough, the storyline and script from writer John Burd was just tremendously generic, even for a thriller. I mean, you just could foresee what would happen a mile away.

And it is also one of those movies where the psychotic individual just is capable of doing things that makes little sense as to why she would do it, how she would know where and when to be at the exact right moment, and it felt like it was something that would just require a lot of preliminary planning well ahead of executing the plan. But hey, it was meant for entertainment, so common sense was right out of the window.

The acting performances in "Party from Hell" were adequate enough. I was only familiar with Eric Roberts on the cast list, and thankfully he was only there in a minor support role. As for the rest of the cast, I was not familiar with them, but they actually performed well enough to make an otherwise generic and predictable script stay afloat for 90 minutes.

If you enjoy thrillers, then there are far better choices readily available out there in comparison to director Jared Cohn's 2021 "Party from Hell".

My rating of "Party from Hell" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

VIEWS ON FILM review of Party from Hell
burlesonjesse59 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"I love party games". Uh-oh. Someone's gone a little cray cray. That someone is Molly Cole and she is played by New Jersey native Jackie Moore. Moore is a decent actress who does a lot of mugging with her eyes. Man, dem some creepy eyes.

Jackie Moore co-stars as the manipulative and unscrupulous villain in 2021's Party from Hell. "Party" is a nasty Lifetime flick that borders on sterile exploitation with enough camp value to pitch a tent. It's the type of film where Lifetime studio execs salivate with a green-light and become hot and bothered at the same time.

So yeah, Party from Hell is Lifetime network fare that checks all the merited boxes. You got the unseen cop characters who are never around when someone gets murdered (check). You got the protagonist (Denise Allen played by April Martucci) who is oblivious to all the evil shenanigans that's going on (check). You got the cliche ending where the antagonist gets away scot-free (check). You got the hammy acting (check). Finally, you got the low production values and sparse locations (Czechoslovakia!). Jared Cohn directed Party from Hell but you just know that the hand of David DeCoteau did a little bit of the guiding.

Released in the US via this month and featuring Eric Roberts in a small role as a rich investor (Roberts and Vivica A. Fox sure have been getting their Lifetime on), Party from Hell is about a wife and mother who hires a party planner only to have said party planner try to ruin her life.

Bottom line: If you like your Lifetime movies free of integrity and cogency, then "Party" will be consistent viewing in that arena. If you're a snooty critic like myself, then you'll be stuck in stranded "purgatory" trying to come up with a recommendation. Party "pooper".

Psycho Party Planner!
Chartreuse16 September 2021
Having a party for a large group? Don't book Molly whatever you do! This movie's acting and tight script makes it a winner! Denise is looking for a party planner to celebrate the relaunch of her web app and Molly is taking care of all of the arrangements - including the ones that NO ONE planned on.....Very good movie and would definitely recommend!

Excellent and Wicked Villainess!
kyleallencole918 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This lifetime movie was pretty good. Actress Jackie Moore stole the show by playing the wonderful and elegant villainess perfectly.

She plays a disturbed woman who poses as a party planner in order to seek revenge on a group of girls from her past who have all forgotten about her, even though she changed her looks.

She manipulates her way into her number one targets life in order to destroy it and anyone else who stands in her way. You can see how crazy she is in the very beginning when she kills a couple who just renewed their vows. She even has a picture of all of the girls together that she crosses off each time she has killed one and saves her former best friend Denise for last or so we think.

Unfortunately this one ends in similar fashion to many others, with the villain escaping at the end and then shown picking out her next target, which surprisingly turns out to be one of the last girls in her picture from her past.

I love thrillers where someone has a personal vendetta, it makes them scarier and more dangerous.

Overall this was a fun lifetime thriller.
