The last two episodes of the new series about the iconic New York Yankee Derek Jeter is now available to stream online. “The Captain” arrived on ESPN+ last month with new episodes airing on a weekly basis.
The docuseries, directed by Randy Wilkins and executive produced by Spike Lee and Mike Tollin, features dozens of intimate interviews with Jeter, alongside those in the athlete’s inner circle, such as his parents Dorothy and Dr. Charles Jeter, his sister Sharlee Jeter and his wife Hannah Jeter. Alex Rodriguez, Daryl Strawberry, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, manager Joe Torre and Dave Winfield also make appearances.
Through these conversations, viewers learn more about Jeter’s meteoric rise to success and the particular hurdles Jeter had to jump over as a biracial athlete. Exclusive: Rtg Features (Alaskan Nets) and Msm (The Last Dance) have tapped David Charles Rodrigues (Neymar: The Perfect Chao) to direct a new feature doc about the high-scoring NBA trio of Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin—collectively known as Run Tmc—and how they set the stage for the present-day dynasty of the world-champion Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Led by Hall of Fame coach Don Nelson, Run Tmc showcased “Nellie Ball” and ushered in the modern NBA. While the two brief seasons that Hardaway, Richmond and Mullin played together from 1989-1991 didn’t yield any championships, they birthed life-long friendships. Billed as “the most fun fun sports doc of all time”, the as-yet-untitled feature will be a three-man weave combining basketball, hip-hop, the Bay Area and late-’80s/early-’90s nostalgia.
Mason Gordon will produce for Msm, with Rtg Features acting as the studio.

Photo: ‘The Captain' On the Record in his Own Words As a lifelong die-hard Boston Red Sox fan, the last thing in the entire world I want to do is heap praise onto a player who single-handedly ripped my heart out more times than I can possibly put into words. However, in the purest form of objectivity and unbiased journalism possible, I have to give credit where it is due. ‘The Captain,’ the documentary series just released by ESPN films that follows retired Yankee great Derek Jeter’s life and career, is absolutely delightful. I, along with I’m sure many other baseball fans, was excited when this documentary was announced for the sheer purpose of getting to actually know the story of Derek Jeter on a deeper level. He has long been considered an enigma of a modern-day athlete, by somehow finding a way to keep most of...

The Kid Mero, otherwise known as Joel Martinez, has addressed the end of Desus & Mero, declaring that the pair have wanted to pursue separate interests for over a year.
It comes after he split with his late-night partner Desus Nice, otherwise known as Daniel Baker, and ended their Showtime series.
There have been reports that the pair separated over issues relating to their manager Victor Lopez and his involvement with their Showtime series.
Mero says the move has been in the works for some time and they signed separate overall agreements to allow them to work on their own projects. He didn’t, however, specify who the overall deals were with.
Speaking on the SiriusXM Basic! podcast, co-hosted by former MTV exec Doug Herzog and Jen Chaney, he said, “Desus and I had discussed pursuing separate interests over a year prior to the show coming to an end and that...

Derek Jeter shared that those rumors about a long-standing rivalry between him and Alex Rodriguez are way off base. While promoting his new ESPN docuseries The Captain, Derek, 48, explained that he and his former teammate, 47, are on good terms. "No, there is no wedge. Everything's good," he told Good Day New York on July 28. "I know people to this day, when I go places, that's one of the first things that they ask me about, but there are no issues between Alex and I at all." Rumors of a feud have followed the Yankees players for decades. But, as it turns out, Derek was simply more focused on playing baseball than any other kind of mind games at...
