Mary Alice tells us about women of the suburbs who wait for the bus in their robe or shop in sweatpants. They are housewives who don't bother trying to be beautiful. As she says this Gaby gets food thrown at her in a restaurant by a poorly aiming Juanita.
The Solis' are out to dinner and John Rowland shows up. Carlos isn't happy. He thinks John's a waiter. He's the owner and he's divorced. Gaby perks up at this and Carlos notices that. John flirts lightly with Anna. Carlos grumps about the lack of bread as Gaby tries to make her appearance better also to Carlos' consternation.
We see each house getting their coffee in the morning and Mary Alice tells us about each person's coffee ritual.
As Lynette, Gaby, and Susan share a cup outside one of their homes they talk about Danny and how he had them fooled. Susan's just happy Julie's safe and they caught the guy. Just then Danny rides up with Bob, who's representing him. Susan confronts him asking how he sleeps at night. Angie comes out to defend her son and Susan loudly accuses Danny of the attack on the street in front of the neighbors.
Karl and Bree are finishing up a fling at the motor lodge. They try to make plans for their next rendezvous and he suggests Las Vegas. She says she doesn't see doing romantic getaways with him since that's the sort of thing a woman does with a man she has those feelings for and he's more of a pleasant diversion. He seems a bit grumpy about it.
Lynette tells the kids she's pregnant with twins. They stare at her. Preston berates them for being irresponsible for not using birth control. They're all grossed out Tom and Lynette are still doing it. None are excited.
Bob tries to counsel the Bolens, asking them what they're background is. They're evasive and unhelpful. He says they need character witnesses for Danny and should call old teachers and friends. They disabuse him of these notions. Danny blurts out they can't tell him anything because the family has big dark secrets. Nick yells at him to knock it off. Angie asks Bob if the conversation was privileged.
Susan is talking to neighbors about the release of Danny Bolen saying everyone should feel unsafe. Mike overhears and is annoyed saying the police don't know if Danny' the guy. She's clinging to the idea that since he lied about his alibi he did it. Mike says it would be easier if the police had some proof. Susan thinks they should give them some.
John goes to visit Carlos at his office. He wanted to ask Carlos in person, given their history, if it would be okay for him to hire Anna for a hostessing job at his restaurant. Carlos says he hasn't forgiven him. John says it's just as well since Gaby probably wouldn't have liked her hot niece working with him, given their history. Carlos gets an idea from this. He goes home and says Anna will be taking the job. Gaby predictably freaks out. He says the affair was years ago and that they should be past it. He thinks she's jealous and that she still has the hots for John and points out how he saw her trying to improve her appearance when he arrived. She denies it.
Bree and Orson show up to a dinner dance and Bree is surprised to see Karl there. She's even more surprised he has a very young date named Candice. They all end up sititng together and Bree makes snippy comments at Candice all night. Orson, who used to be Candice's dentist, says she's a nice girl and it's a pity she's taken up with a dog like Karl.
Lynette comes home and sees Susan taking pictures from her car. She says she's conducting surveillance on Danny Bolen. Lynette gently reminds her that everyone thought Porter burned down that nightclub and they were wrong. Susan says she's not wrong.
At the party the quartet chats. Candice is a dancer. Bree snips at her. Orson and Candice dance. As they do Bree gripes that Karl is cheating on her. He hits right back that she said he was a mere diversion and she has no say over what he does after their dalliances. Karl gets up to attend to something and Bree steals an oil carafe and pours some on the floor. Orson and Candice trip and fall and Candice breaks her nose and has to go to the ER.
Carlos comes in to talk to Lynette. She's about to tell him she's pregnant when he offers her a job as his new senior VP complete with company car, expense account, and 50 percent salary bump. She tries to decline until the salary bump. She says she'll do it but wonders why he isn't giving it to Judy. Carlos overheard that she's pregnant. Lynette points out that's illegal. He says only if she finds out and he knows his new senior VP won't tell. He says they have to wine and dine a big client that night and to bring Tom.
Orson visits Bree in her office. He says he has it figured out, Bree was jealous because Candice was dancing with him and that's why she poured oil on the floor. He thinks this means she still cares for him and that there's hope for them yet since a woman doesn't pull a stunt like that for a man she's not in love with. This makes Bree realize perhaps she's in love with Karl. Orson leaves and she calls Karl and says she's ready for that weekend in Vegas.
Eddie from school comes to visit Danny. Eddie needs his brakes looked at. Danny tries to beg off but Angie makes him go. As Angie watches them out the window in the driveway Nick says it's time to get out of the Bolen business. She says they can't change their names and run every time they run into a little trouble. She says until she says otherwise they are Nick and Angie Bolen.
Susan is washing dishes as she sees Danny and Eddie working on Eddie's car. She goes over and confronts him. He apologizes about what happened to Julie but says he didn't hurt her. She asks what the fight McCluskey saw was about. He says he shouldn't talk to her on advice of his lawyer. She says she knew Julie thought she was pregnant. He says he didn't know that. She says he's lying. She starts lowering the car on him Angie comes out with a bat and scares her off.
For the client meeting Carlos and Tom and Lynette go to John's restaurant. Tom is nervous about the job and how Lynette will handle it and how Carlos will handle thenews when he eventually obviously finds out. She says by the time Carlos finds out she will be kiling it on the job. The client owns a vineyard and goes to pour some wine. She demures, he's offended, Carlos makes her drink. She says a little wouldn't hurt. Tom switches the glasses. Gaby shows up looking frumpy. Carlos is mad. She says she didn't want to be pretty and make Carlos mad. He tells her to go change and since she made her point. She reads him the riot act about testing her with the Anna business since she stood by him blind and poor and that she wasn't making herself pretty for John. He accepts this and she goes to change.
The Bolens start getting crank calls. Danny is worried that the threats aren't empty. Angie tells him where they keep the gun. In a box in the second drawer of her dresser. She apologizes for raising him "on the run." He says she doesn't have to apologize.
Tom and Lynette keep switching glasses. So Tom is wasted and babbling, mispronouncing dog names and telling Gaby how great her boobs look. The client is impressed that Lynette is holding her own so well and offers one more glass, Tom stops him saying if she has one more he'll puke.
Mike returns to the Delfino homestead and sits with Susan. He talked to Bob and found out that the police have evidence that clears Danny Bolen. A camera at liqour store caught him during the time of attack. Susan is upset both that the attacker is still out there and she's been badmouthing Danny Bolen. She says she's so sorry about being a madwoman of late. He reminds her he said for better or worse.
Carlos and Gaby return home. Carlos heads up to bed and Gaby pulls out an old modeling scrapbook in which she's secreted a photo of her of John Rowland in it, from back in the day. She looks at it wistfully.
Mary Alice returns to tells us about folks and their coffee in the morning and what each one does as they have it: one thinks about a lover they once cared for (Gaby); another the boss they must lie to (Lynette); another contemplates a man they might be in love with (Bree). But she says for one woman on this particular morning that cup of coffee has to wait since she has to help a neighbor and we see Susan head over to the Bolens. Someone has thrown trash in their yard and spray painted "leave" on the house. Susan has brought a trash bag and Angie silently accepts her apology and help.
