- Brother Bear: [as Sister pins the tail on the donkey just right] Terrific! Way to go! Yea, Sister!
- Sister Bear: [removing her blindfold] Oh goody, I won, I won!
- Papa Q. Bear: [presenting one of the guests with the prize] Good work, sonny, here's your prize.
- Sister Bear: But Mama, I won fair and square.
- Mama Bear: Of course you won, sweetie, but you can't get the prize because it's your party. That wouldn't be polite.
- Papa Q. Bear: [eating the last of Sister's birthday cake; last lines] You're absolutely right, Mama.
- [gulps]
- Papa Q. Bear: There *is* such a thing as too much birthday - *and*, too much birthday cake.
- [chuckles nervously, then the cubs chuckle along with him]
- Sister Bear: I want to thank you for my birthday party, Papa. You and Mama.
- Papa Q. Bear: Parties *are* exciting, sweetie, and presents *are* lovely, but your mama is right. Getting to be six years old is pretty important. You're going to be six for a whole year, and it's up to you to make the most of it. To learn, to have fun, to grow in every way.
- Mama Bear: [after the guests sing "Happy Birthday" to Sister, she cries] Sweetie, what's the matter? It's your birthday. Why are you so upset?
- Sister Bear: It isn't fair. I was the first one out in musical chairs, I didn't get my donkey game prize, I got bounced on the pony, and sick on the merry-go-round. And I don't *wanna* have six cubs, I only wanna have three.
- [sobs as Mama hugs her]
- Brother Bear: Gee, Sis, what about your presents? You haven't opened them yet.
- Papa Q. Bear: And cake and ice cream. You haven't had them yet, either.
- Papa Q. Bear: [as Mama presents Sister with her birthday cake] Okay gang, when I give the signal, Sister's gonna blow out the candles, then we're all gonna sing "Happy Birthday, Sister Bear".
- [to Sister]
- Papa Q. Bear: Okay sweetie, get set - *blow*!
- Papa Q. Bear: All right, our first game will be everybody's favorite: musical chairs.
- [the guests rush to the chairs, then we fade to them standing around the chairs, awaiting Papa's instructions]
- Papa Q. Bear: Okay, you march, and when the music stops, the one caught off the chair is out. Start the music... march!
- Sister Bear: Do we have them, Papa?
- Papa Q. Bear: Do we have what?
- Sister Bear: Annual rings.
- Papa Q. Bear: [laughing] No, my dear. We have something better: *birthdays* and birthday *parties*. And it seems to me that you're going to be having a birthday pretty soon.
- Sister Bear: A party? Am I going to have a birthday party?
- [dancing excitedly]
- Sister Bear: A real birthday party with all the trimmings?
- Papa Q. Bear: I don't see why not.
- Papa Q. Bear: Oh, good. The ponies and the merry-go-round are here.
- Mama Bear: The what?
- Papa Q. Bear: Oh, didn't I tell you? I rented ponies and a merry-go-round for the party. It just wouldn't be a party without ponies and a merry-go-round.
- Mama Bear: [sighing as she piles that season's pumpkins in a wheelbarrow] I do hope Papa is being careful. He's taking down that big tree today, and...
- Papa Q. Bear: Tim-berrrrrrrrrrrr!
- Mama Bear: [talking to her neighbor] Well, Papa does tend to get a little carried away, sometimes. But he's a *wonderful* husband and father, and he's always very careful with his work.
