SO much more than the zombie-crap out being made.

Short and to the point, Not Even Death tells the tale from what happens before the film to present clearly, emotionally, and smoothly.

The acting in this original take on the genre flows naturally from the cast. Yes, zombie flicks have been done to death before ad nauseaum, no pun intended. This film is the standard of quality future films of the same nature should aspire to, scrap what they have done, and aspire higher yet.

The special effects on the zombie are wonderful, frightening without being B-movie gore, while still allowing just a touch of the woman beneath to come through. The big scene at the end (you'll know it to see it) does surprise and make you jump, then follows through with a hair raising stunningly suspenseful last minute thrill.

If movie shorts got the attention they deserved, Not Even Death would be a Halloween season classic for years to come.

Not your father's horror script

I was surprised by this five minute short for a couple of reasons. First, it is not a zombie/horror script but more of a drama, or even a tragic love story. David keeps his zombie wife tied up in the basement, waiting for a cure. Her zombie-ism could easily represent any sickness or condition that a person may have. His love for her is so great that he goes to extreme measures to save her. For a five minute short, this film packed in a lot of emotion. Kudos to the writer for bringing us into a world so quickly.

Production on this short was very professional. Make-up, lighting, sound, editing were all professional. From start to finish, you would have to nit-pick to find a fault with Not Even Death.

A short piece, this is one of the first refreshingly different zombie pics (short or otherwise) that I've seen in awhile.

Well made, the makeup effects are very good - but it doesn't rely on gore and guts.

Instead, the story is character driven, focused on loyalty of a man whose wife has been infected with the zombie virus....and yet continues to have faith that somehow, he'll get her back. Interesting - wish it'd been longer.

I've seen lots of zombie stuff, and I'm generally unimpressed. With the exception of maybe Shawn of the Dead, most of it relies on the gross out factor instead of actual plot or character. Nice to see something with a little heart in it, too.

While there is a zombie in this short, it's not a zombie film. It's a dramatic piece that contains a zombie. A man keeps his undead wife alive, hoping for a cure and hoping there's something left to be cured.

While all six minutes of this film takes place in a basement, what goes on in the outside world is told in a subtle and informative way. A lot is revealed in six minutes, both in the world and in one man's life

The acting was good between the two actors, Treva Tegtmeier and Joseph Will, Treva being under all the decayed-face make up. The make up, itself, as well as the production as a whole, was very professional-looking and not something from a film student.

Not Even Death is an original story in an otherwise tired genre.
