As House pokes fun at Foreman for firing Thirteen, he says, "I just ran into Thirteen while she was clearing out her locker. My condolences, although it's not like she's the hottest woman in the world." However, in 2009, Olivia Wilde, who plays Thirteen, was voted number one on Maxim's Hottest Women List.
During the episode's intro, the bridge that Dibala is driving across is the same one seen in the House title intro in all episodes. Princeton-Plainsboro hospital can be seen in the background.
One of the most controversial episodes, it is often used as a lesson piece for moral theology classes at private Catholic schools.
As House comes home after his first day back at work at Princeton-Plainsboro and comments on Wilson's lack of garlic in his dinner (and shoes on his feet), Wilson replies, "Yes, I am a vampire, Sookie." Sookie is a character from True Blood (2008). Robert Sean Leonard played a vampire in My Best Friend Is a Vampire (1987)
When Thirteen comes into the hospital to tell Foreman that she has an interview at Princeton General and Foreman explains that he called in a favor from Douglas, Thirteen says that most people would send chocolates. Foreman then says that he would have stood outside her apartment with a boom box, but he knows she hates 80s music. This is a reference to the movie Say Anything where Lloyd holds up a boom box playing Peter Gabriel's song In Your Eyes in an attempt to woo back his love interest Diane.
