Norwegian pianist Rune Alver carefully unfolded the brittle sheet music and began caressing the keys of the baby grand. He had found the classical piece buried in an archive and believed it hadn’t been heard in maybe a century. But as he delved into the second section, Cantando, he felt a shiver run down his spine. The melody wasn’t just reminiscent of something he’d heard before — it was iconic. He instantly recognized the unforgettable, yearning opening notes of “Over the Rainbow,” the Academy Award-winning anthem Judy Garland performed in The Wizard of Oz, perhaps the most famous song to come out of Hollywood. How could this be? The sheet music was dated 1910, and The Wizard of Oz premiered nearly 30 years later. But the melody hung there (“Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high …”). It was hauntingly similar. Too similar, he thought.

For every movie that has never been made, Hollywood history has countless individual movie moments that almost never existed. These moments are sometimes small touches in a movie's production. For example, on the set of the opening scene for "The Godfather," Director Francis Ford Coppola spotted a cat by chance that he placed in Marlon Brando's lap and that would become a hallmark of the character Don Corleone. Unplanned but lasting moments can also manifest from improvised acting, such as when Spider-Man actor Tom Holland improvised the repeated line "I don't want to go" while shooting his final appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War."
In other cases, legendary scenes have nearly been cut, such as when the producers of "The Wizard of Oz" considered removing "Over the Rainbow." When moments like this, which define a film's cultural footprint were at risk of being removed entirely, it's interesting to imagine the...

Charlotte Church has become the latest popstar linked to BBC reality show The Voice. The Voice of an Angel singer, who previously appeared as a judge on Andrew Lloyd Webber's Over The Rainbow, has been approached by the BBC. Church has not signed yet, but the broadcaster is hopeful it can land her before the series starts in 2012, reports The Sun. Her appointment is likely to rule out a spot on the judging panel for Cheryl Cole as they once famously had a war of words in the press. "Cheryl won't be pleased to learn that Charlotte is up for The Voice," a source told the newspaper. "She's keen on doing it as it will be a sensational return to UK telly after her humiliation on The X Factor. "But there's way too much bad blood between her and Charlotte, they'd just end up arguing all the time." (more...

Nicole Scherzinger has admitted that she would rather work with the ‘legend’ that is Andrew Lloyd Webber than X Factor boss Simon Cowell.
The former Pussycat Dolls star had been hotly tipped as likely to land a judging role on the new American version of the TV talent show, however in an interview with The Mirror she made that seem quite unlikely by admitting that she’d rather be affiliated with musical genius Lloyd Webber on one of his BBC theatre shows.
Nicole said:

“If there’s any way I can have a working and creative relationship with Andrew that would be my greatest honour.

Charlotte Church has hit out at the X Factor and it’s boss Simon Cowell, saying the show is ‘killing music.’
The Over The Rainbow judge made the comments during an interview with Esquire magazine and went on to blast the panel, saying none of them are good enough to judge on the show.
Charlotte raved:
“I’m a so much better singer than either Dannii Minogue or Cheryl Cole.
“The X Factor is killing music.
“That show doesn’t have an interest in true craftsmanship or skill; it’s all about your ass, and hopefully you can keep half a tune.

Charlotte Church has claimed that Simon Cowell is too scared to let her act as a guest judge on ‘The X Factor’.
The Over The Rainbow panellist said that she is much more of a vocal expert than many of last year’s stand in judges – including Pixie Lott, Geri Halliwell, Nicole Scherzinger and Katy Perry – because she knows more about the technicalities of singing than the 51-year-old music mogul himself.
She said: “I’d make a better judge than the others on that show because I know more about the technical side of singing than even Simon Cowell.
“But he wouldn’t be able to control me, so he’d never have me on.”
Charlotte – who was a judge on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC One talent search show ‘Over The Rainbow’ last year – also slammed ‘The X Factor’ as being “dreadful news” for everyone else in the music business.

Since leaving Phantom after nearly four years in the role in London, New York and Los Angeles; Crawford has become a multi-platinum recording artist and one of the world's most sought after concert and stage performers, playing to sold-out venues around the globe.
