The story follows three young men at the beginning of their adult lives. Joey returns home to Portland from Los Angeles, where he has been living as a struggling actor. He has just received word that his childhood friend Gavin, a serious drug addict, has died, apparently from an overdose. He reunites with his other lifelong friends, Jonah, a recovering addict struggling to stay sober, and Christian, a veteran of the War in Iraq. Jonah, possessing first-person knowledge of Gavins addiction, shares with Joey his belief that their friend may have been murdered. The pair agrees to keep the knowledge from Christian, knowing he will take matters into his own hands. Yet, as the friends mourn Gavin, their guilt and anger begin to take hold, and standing by becomes too much to bear.
