- Orson asks incredulous Angie to keep an eye on rightly adultery-suspected Bree. Still curious, she discovers it's true but informs Bree, so Karl can be defenestrated 'timely' in the buff. Mike is treated to more sex then his horniest dreams can give him stamina for after Katherine's bed athletics-bragging makes Susan jealous while their big mouths got both of them condemned to forced litter picker-labor. Lynette planned to tell Carlos she's pregnant only after landing the firm's biggest-ever account would make promising colleague Terrence Henderson an acceptable replacement. - "Desperate Housewives" - "The Coffee Cup" - Nov. 15, 2009
Susan is sentenced to community service commensurate with her crime. She trashed Katherine around the neighborhood so she has to pick up trash by the side of the road. Katherine comes to visit, Big Gulp in hand, to gloat and taunt Susan. Susan says she can gloat all she wants because at the end of the day she gets to go home with Mike so she won. Katherine, annoyed then tosses her cup onto the ground. Susan calls the supervisor's attention to this however, and Katherine winds up right alongside Susan in an orange jumpsuit of her own.
As they spear trash Katheine seemingly breaks down and admits that Susan has won. Susan tries to soften a bit saying she lost the man she loves. And Katherine agrees saying she and Mike connected on so many levels, especially sexually, recounting the time they once made love five times in one day. Susan can't believe this. Katherine says it's true and realizes she still has something on Susan and gloats again.
Of course, Susan is now determined to prove that she and Mike have as much passion so she continues to throw herself at him over the course of a day. When she tries for time number four he pleads basic biology. Susan melts down and admits what Katherine told her. Mike says that's simply because he and Katherine were snowed in on a ski trip once and since they had nothing to talk about they had sex all day. In other words, he says, all he and Katherine had was sex while he and Susan have a rich full life in which they finish each other's sentences.
Karl and Bree go to see "Madame Butterfly" and he is, predictably, underwhelmed. He tries to kiss her but she reminds them of their promise to keep their hands off each other until they determine if they're actually a match outside the bedroom. She goes home to discover Orson listening to a new recording of "Madame Butterfly" and is touched by how much he feels it.
Later that week Angie drops by to talk business with Bree but she's out, so she chats with Orson who is still listening to "Madame Butterfly" all mopey. Orson admits that he thinks that Bree is having an affair. Angie doesn't believe it given that Bree is a woman who makes her own croutons. Orson is going away for the weekend and asks Angie to spy on Bree. She says she can't.
The next day as she comes into the test kitchen she tells Bree what Orson said and she's understandably freaked. She goes outside to call Karl to speed up the divorce proceedings saying they shouldn't see each other again until it's final. Angie takes note of the call.
While Orson is away Karl stops by with a brilliant plan. Since Orson is sitll on parole they just need to get photos of him hanging out with a known felon. When he objects to the divorce they can pull out the photos to make him acquiesce. Bree is pleased with this and acquiesces to his wish that they celebrate by getting it on since Oson is away. Angie, who saw Karl arrives, sneaks over and peeks through the window. She is aghast that Bree is indeed cheating and thinks fast when she sees Orson drive up unexpectedly. She calls to warn Bree. Orson comes upstairs and Bree appears to just be sitting in bed. He opens the closet door. She asks what he's doing. He says she knows full well and that there were two glasses downstairs, one filled with wine. Angie, who has been listening on Bree's still connected phone, thinks fast again and appears in the doorway with the wine glass saying she can't believe she popped home for five minutes to put clothes in the dryer and Bree has got a man in her room. Orson, deflated, leaves. Angie hands Karl, who is standing naked on the balcony, his clothes and asks Bree what's going on. Bree thanks her. Angie says she didn't do it for Bree, she did it for Orson and Bree needs to make a choice. Bree explains that Orson is blackmailing her and all she and Karl have is sex. Angie says then Bree should get a divorce and make a life with Karl. Bree says it's not that easy and then says "Orson loves opera."
Angie's having her own problems. At the beginning of the ep she's going to meet Nick at the coffee shop and notices through the window that the waitress is brushing crumbs off the front of his shirt in a rather familiar fashion. She enters, annoyed. He apologizes again and says he doesn't know what else to do. He offers to go to couples counseling. She says this would be great, they could go tell a stranger all their problems and then kill him. He again says he doesn't know what she wants. She says she wants him to be the man he used to be.
She also runs into Julie at the coffee shop at a different time and Julie, clueless, tries to make small talk with her. Angie tells her she knows she slept with her husband so small talk is out and averted gazes are in. Julie apologizes. Angie isn't having it. When the barista asks Angie to pay, she says it's on Julie, "she owes me."
Later, again at the coffee shop the waitress is closing up while simultaneously trying to let a suitor down on the phone. After she gives him the "you're a nice guy" speech and he hangs up on her, Nick, the last customer in the cafe tells her that ladies think that's supposed to soften the blow but it doesn't. The waitress heads out back to take care of business and Nick pulls out a disposable cell to make a call. He tells an Agent Padilla that he's considering "coming in" on the condition that Angie gets a pass. Before the call can be traced he tells him when he calls back he wants a yes to his condition and they'll talk more. As he hangs up he notices the waitress has returned. He asks if she was eavesdropping and she says she wasn't. We cut to an outside POV as someone watches the waitress put a hand on his shoulder and lean over and clean the counter. Nick bids adieu and takes off. A few moments later, after she's turned out the lights, the waitress goes to lock the door when it opens. She says to whoever it is "did you forget something" and the person chokes her, perhaps to death.
Tonight's Solis and Scavo stories are intertwined.
Gaby, in her desperation to get Juanita into a Catholic school with a two year waiting list, goes to confession. To bribe Father Crowley. He won't accept the money and says he might be able to get her to the top of the list if he saw the Solis family at Mass a little more often but even then he would need another student to drop out for Juanita to get in. Gaby interprets this to mean that Father Crowley wants his bribe in the collection plate and goes to work.
Meanwhile Lynette is trying to hide her pregnancy for just a few more days so she can close on a big deal at work so she's taken to wearing Tom's clothes, going for a kind of "Annie Hall" look with vest, shirt, and tie. (Tom, oddly, finds this sexy.) She tells him that she's trained her protege Terrence so well that once the deal is closed she can tell Carlos since there will be a great substitute for her.
Carlos, Lynette, and Terrence close the deal, which means a branch will be opened in Miami. Gaby who has come to the office to prevail upon Carlos to write a big check to the church gets wind of this and convinces Carlos to promote Terrence to be the manager of that branch, which means that his daughter, who is the same age as Juanita, will be leaving the Catholic school.
Perfect! Except of course this throws a wrench in Lynette's plans. So when she gets wind of Terrence's promotion - she doesn't know why- she and Tom invite him and his wife over for a "celebratory" dinner in which they poison them against Miami with tales of bad weather and the previous Chicago branch manager who was fired, became an alcoholic, and lost his wife.
When Gaby hears Terrence doesn't want to go to Miami after talking to Lynette, she goes to talk to Lynette. Lynette, who is literally eating pickles and ice cream, is wearing just a tank top and rushes around to put something on before answering the door. She chooses a parka. Gaby explains the dilemma and Lynette gets very emotional saying she needs Terrence here. Gaby goes to hug her, wondering why she's so upset and is alarmed when Lynette's stomach kicks her. Lynette unveils her tummy and her secret, explaining she wanted to prove how great she could be before she told him. Gaby is bitterly disappointed saying Carlos is just starting this company and he needed people he could count on. Lynette asks her not to tell him saying it should come from her. "Better late than never," asks Gaby?
The next day Carlos comes into Lynette's office and she asks if he spoke to Gaby. He says no but since Terrence isn't going to Miami he's going to need Lynette to go. She doesn't believe him and tells him she's pregnant. He says that's great but he needs her in Miami and who knows, maybe in a couple of years she can come back and telecommute. She says no and that he can't fire her for being pregnant. He says he's not, he's offering her a promotion and if she quits because she doesn't want it well that's that, isn't it. He wishes her luck in Miami and congratulations on the baby.
