The crew of Starbase 80 wear the style of combadges with the gold oval behind the delta emblem. At the time this episode is set, those badges were more than a decade out-of-date, in keeping with Starbase 80's reputation of deficiency.
Victoria arrives aboard the Cerritos in a type 6A shuttle with the registry NCC-77567. This same shuttle was seen near spacedock in season 1's Veritas (2020), though its name was not legible and it was unknown what ship is was attached to. Here, its name is revealed to be "Red Wood," which, based on the naming convention of the Cerritos' shuttles, would indicate that it also comes from a California-class ship.
When Captain Freeman calls Starbase 80 to talk to Mariner, the crewman who answers looks up Mariner on a 1980s-era Rolodex card holder, instead of something electronic. This further show how backwater that Starbase 80 is.
When Admiral Buenamigo introduces the USS Aledo - a fully-automated ship - to the Ceritos's bridge crew, an LCARS screen fills the Ceritos's viewscreen. One of the display panels has random vertical and horizontal line segments strobing on and off slowly. This is similar to the M-5 computer's display; that computer was once tested on the USS Enterprise to see how it could control a starship automatically.
During Captain Freeman's transmission with Starbase 80, an unused 'Genesis Device' (c. 2284) can be seen in storage behind the comm officer. This suggests one particular function of the facility is long-term storage of outdated/decommissioned equipment - essentially Star Fleet's "junkyard".
